Well...this will probably be my first Hiby purchase. You convinced me to pull the trigger on one cute not so little unit🙂 Unlike others I love the design and I heard many great things about their software. So can't wait to get my hands on one. Great detailed review, as always, what would I do without you? My old FiiO needed retirement and this review arrived at the perfect time. Thank you👍🤗
I’ve just bought this dap in purple. As I got it for a killer price I took the plunge as I really wanted a good streaming dap as my old Astell and kern sr15 has strangely stopped connecting to wifi or Bluetooth (if anyone has a fix for this let me know). Anyway as I decided to make it a Christmas present to myself apart from checking it works and plays ok I’m not getting it out of the box until Christmas (restraint). My opinion on it on the small preview I gave it is it is nowhere close to the open holographic sound of the sr15. I still love it though as it looks amazing, it’s purple, it has all the crazy eq stuff. It streams, it has a great screen, and a lovely case. Not sure if my brain will burn in to increase my opinion of the sound but I’m still very happy to have it and start playing with it on Christmas Day🙂
there is no correlation between price and performance when it comes to audio. i was going to get this dap but decided on the m1s as its more pocket sized. good review drum bro!! ✌😎👍
I recently got this second hand as an upgrade to the tempotec v6 which I actually love and use as a source for my home hifi system. However, whilst the r6pro2 sounds definitely much better than the v6 using headphones, the line out performance somehow just sounds veiled and even harsh compared to the tempotec v6, (I suspect mostly above 3-4khz range as I could somewhat fix it with mseb and increased the LHF Sibilencd, Air), I don't know if this is normal or if my unit has problem or needs to burn in more, also V6 actually let me use high gain on LineOut which is great since I use it as a source for my 300b tube amp... How would a desktop dac like topping e70 velvet compare to a dap like the r6pro2 in sound quality? Would a desktop DAC be much better to be used for home hifi system because of the internal components?
G5 is more powerful and could drive much harder loads. They are more or less as detailed and clean sounding, the difference is mostly happening in the tonality department and in the way the music flows. G5 sounds like a traditional D/S design, nothing wrong about that, but Hiby's unit has a better flow with acoustic music and a more organic midrange that isn't there on the G5. G5 is mostly ultra-linear and clean sounding, while R6 PRO has a "warm-ish" tint that adds more weight in the midrange and removes grain and digitus from the treble.
Im looking for a dap that can drive headphones like hd800s, hifiman planar and other over headphones, do you think this dap have the power to drive them? Or maybe fiio m23 or m6 ultra? Thanks a lot
Got my unit last week - only using PlexAmp on it for music - live the unit but man it's battery does suck - however.... That seems mostly wifi, and turning on idle power off, battery saver seems like an idea I'm investigating. Interestingly - your comment about the bezels - it looks bezel-less but the screen is still not to the edges, and there's a big display gap at the bottom of the display.
If you need to drive IEMs only, I would get the R6 Pro II, if you need to drive harder loads, including desktop headphones, then M7 would do that better
Hey man great videos, please help me, between this DAP and shanling m6 ultra, which one should i choose? I care about the warmth of the sound and smoothness of the os, I already have sony wm1am2 which I LOVE its sound and fiio m15s which is way too neutral, please help me here
@@theodorezurla496 I just returned R6 III. Amazing DAP but the volume wheel is annoying. So, I was between Astell&Kern 35, Sony Zx707 Japanese and HiBy Pro II.
@@Soundnews The Topping D90 displays the sampling rate of the incoming signal. The reason I asked is that I use my DAP as a streaming source at my desk , feeding my D90, then analog to my Keces E40 amp. Occasionally I'll use it with my 7Hz Timeless IEMs. My current DAP is the Shanling M3X, I'm looking to upgrade in the next few months. The R6 Pro II might be overkill for my use cases, I will probably go with the R6 Gen III. Thanks for your response.
@@Soundnews oddly using Plexamp playing some 24/96 I have going thru the 3.5mm I see 48khz in the status bar - will try that with USB when I get home from this gig. Not sure if that's Plexamp tho so will install Tidal or something as well.
Excellent review as always! I always come away from your reviews feeling like I have a pretty good understanding about a product! Reviews on this hiby have been few so far, so you’ve provided a welcomed service to the community, thank you! I have the Hiby R6 pro i, it has sounded good overall, especially the balanced output. I had trouble getting v1 hiby pro to sync with dacs except my chord mojo. Have you tried using the vii hiby pro as a dac source? Also, I might have missed this, but can you play and charge simultaneously? Thanks
Can this unit power the FiiO FT5 planar? You said in the FT5 review that most portable DAPs were too "underpowered" for this headphone to really shine and the FT5 sounded underwhelming. Please let me know what you think and if there is another portable DAP which actually suits the FT5? Thanks a lot in advance! You got a new subscriber 💪🤘👍
This DAP has a PD mode that allows it to charge at a maximum power of 18 watts. I didn't notice that the device was consuming more than 15 watts while charging with the 100-watt Baseus charger.
guys, I'm a newbee, I have a question: purchased Sennheiser IE 600 today, they are still being delivered, and I have a $100 Volt 2 interface, will it carry the EI 600? Should I purchase anything else to gain full power from IE?
Design is always subjective, and I subjectively dislike it🙂 But I know software and components are the strongest arguments of Hiby. Still far from being interested to get one, but I trust the company to change my mind in the future.
Software and components are the strongest arguments of Hiby Getting such recognition, even if we doesn't make you our customer, is already very worthwhile❤
Did you even watch this review? If you had you would have seen this was actually spoken to. Yes, battery and power are less than desired. Made up for in other categories, at least for the reviewer. Your conclusions of course could be different.
Hello, please help and guide me. So I was waiting for R6 Pro II, it would have been out of my budget, however, it's battery life is making me give up on it. I have two other options HiBy R6 III (Gen 3) or Shanling M3 Ultra, they are in a similar price range. Could you help me with one of these two, or suggest a third option. My music choices are classic rock, or some modern bands, etc. Thank You.
Hi! What do you think between this, the AK SR35 (which just came out a few months ago), and the Mojo 2? Sounds quality wise (with Mojo 2 connected to an Android phone), what is your best pick? Would really love your opinions to help with my purchase 😊😊

Better than Fiio M15S?
great video, would you still rate this over the ibasso dx180?

Thank you for great review ❗️ ❤️Wonder how does it soundwise compare to ibasso 320...❓🙋♂️
Sadly, I never tried an iBasso unit. I should try my luck again :)

It's not entirely bezel less like a modern smartphone, but it looks like that when I'm comparing it to other DAPs I have around me.
Hello, how does it compare to Shanling M8? I know M8 is a flagship, but it can be bought now around 800 bucks ;)
Thanks for this informative video. I am trying to decide between this Hiby r6 pro II and the Shanling M7. Anybody's opinion is sought after.

Hiby R6 Pro II or ibasso dx240 amp8 mk2? What's better?
Are replacement batteries available?
The R6 Pro II is definitely one of the best mid-range DAP. However, I prefer Sony's ZX-707 (uncapped, Japanese version) for its better battery life.
How would you define 707's sound? I am in a similar spot, I am considering even HiBy R6 III (Gen 3) or Shanling M3 Ultra

That I was looking for. Some feedback between Zx707 and Pro 2. Any more advice?

Does this bypass android audio system resampling to 48 kHz on the USB digital output?
Hiby says so, but there is no way to check that out

Is an iPhone charger (20w) suitable to charge the Hiby r6 pro II?
I see no reason, why it shouldn't. I tried a 45 and then a 65 watt charger, both of which worked fanstastic.
