For 2001 and up, with the key removed from the ignition, keep pressing the odometer button. Insert the key in ignition directly to POS II. When the yellow triangle appears and starts flashing, release the button then turn the ignition off. May help if the trip odometer is set to T1 (not sure if it's really needed).
This exact procedure didn’t work to reset my Service Maintenance indicator light in my 08 S60 2.5T. What I did differently to get it to work was, put key to position 1, press and hold trip odometer, turn key to position 2, when the Orange triangle on the bottom center of the cluster starts to blink then release the odometer bottom. Turn engine off and then restart car and the light finally went off.. hopefully this helps others that may have been having the same issues as me.
Steve: Thanks so much. I tried to follow the instructions on the video to no avail. Anyway I guess I was holding the odometer button too long. I tried your method and it worked perfectly. Happy motoring.
This worked for my 06 V70 R. Thank you! Also worth mentioning that following your directions the car will chime/ding once to help confirm it's been reset.
This did not work for my 2005 Volvo S60. I had to press the trip reset button and immediately turn the key to position II and wait for the exclamation mark in the triangle to blink and sound before releasing. THEN it reset!!
Do these come on when the mileage is reached for each interval? Or do these Volvos have "smart" intervals like Honda that track time engine has run, amount of starts, etc (not just mileage). I got picked up a 2005 V70R with 85k miles and know the next scheduled maintenance is 90k. Wondering if it will pop up right at 90k or potentially before or after that depending on last reset. (All prior scheduled maintenance was performed).
why cant this be turned off with my scantool , every 2years this annoying "service" light comes on, and i have to start the car multiple times trying to clear it.
This procedure didn't work on a 2012 S40. Thanks to other commenters: 1) hold the button down without the key in the contact 2) put in the key and turn it immediately into in position 2, while still pressing down the button 3) wait for the indicator lamp to blink 4) release the button. There's a chime, and the service message will disappear. Now it has been reset.
The procedure didn't work on my car. On my C70 2004 model - I found that I had to press & hold trip button - Ignition on - Wait for the service light to flash and then immediately start the engine without releasing the trip button. That slight variation worked on my car. Hope this helps someone.
