Are these units (Headunit / ICM ) plug and play or do they have to be programmed by the dealer if purchased used? i have an 'Volvo v70, 2012. Around a year ago the radio and infotainment system started to fail. and wondering if the problem is the ICM unit? . I was recently given the car and I have started to diagnose and try to fix this issue. The symptoms of this issue are the screen for the infotainment system not working but its turn on and hanging on and on, all of the lower lights and buttons work such as the heated seats and or the defroster and fan control. They all work . Up till this point when I turned the car on I would receive no light from the screen and none of the audio buttons such as FM, AM, and or volume not either, about 6 mounts ago the rear park sensor failed to show on screen. grateful for every answers

Awesome video. I hope I don't have to remove it. I have a 11 xc90 and the number 10 fuse keeps blowing on the CEM. it controls the DIM, climate control, OWS, and a few other things. I'm trying to chase down the problem but I just can't seem to find it. 02-03 dims were bad. I don't think that's it. the car warms up after awhile and I hit a bump and pops. doesn't pop before it warms? ever hear of anything like this? thanks for the videos. I'll look for a blend door video next just incase
Hi Ted. I spoke to our tech and he said you should unplug the other modules on the circuit to see if the problem still persists. First unplug the ICM and perform a test drive. Then unplug the DIM and perform another test drive. This will help you figure out which module is causing the issue. If the fuse still pops after you have tested all of the modules, he said that is an indicator you may have a problem with your wiring.

I have 05 XC90 2.5 and have had a ton of issues, car would lose power, die, would start again, totally at random. Changed fuel pump, filter, MAP, fuel regulator, checked fuses and replaced relays, so with no change, I pulled out CEM as water did get on floor, cleaned out sunroof drains, but I could see water spots on top of CEM, so pulled it out with help of your excellent video, thank you. I saw corrosion on PC board, the usual white residual, so I cleaned it all up with 99% alcohol, came right off, blew it dry, reinstalled and now won't start at all, turned over, started, stumbled and died, no fuel to rail? So can CEM cause no fuel to rail. And if so, what are your charges to test unit. Thanks.

I spoke to our tech and he said there was a service bulletin from Volvo regarding a cem modification for a plenum lid part number #30728860 that includes a service grommet part number #30775689. Our tech said that is basically the only protection available. You will have to check at your local shop if those part numbers match your vehicle as the design changed for later models. Hope this helps!

I've got a position lights general warning on the IP shortly after washing my xc90 and the front parklight won't light up anymore. Rear ones still do. As it seems, the front bulb feed directly into the CEM, no fuse , no relay. I'm guessing there's a bucket of water in the CEM. And yes, it's a 2005 model , so it's prone to water ingress. If so, I'm considering buying a CEM from the scrapheap. Is the CEM part of the immobilizer system? Does it store mileage ? I'd hate to replace it and find out the car won't start anymore or the IP reading a ludicrous mileage .Thanks !
+Claudiu Octavian Hi Claudiu. I spoke to our tech and he said that the CEM is programmed to your vehicle. You cannot install a used CEM into your vehicle without first transferring the data from your original CEM to the used unit. We recommend sending your CEM to us for inspection and repair. If you would like to place an order, give us a call toll-free at 1-888-712-2525 and ask to speak to a Sales Rep. They will walk you through the process. Thank you!

If the VIDA diagnostic tool shows that there are 0 keys stored in the CEM, then yes. Sometimes the attempts to add keys back through VIDA’s key application fail. In this case we would have to wipe-out the corrupted key registry in your CEM when we do a Program Transfer procedure which will make it possible to add all keys back to the CEM again using VIDA.
Hi Nuj. Common symptoms of a faulty CEM relates to low speed issues such as power windows, power seats, etc. 2005 and newer CEM also suffer from a variety of failures from communication issues to total shutdowns. They are also prone to water damage, resulting in an even broader range of failures. I spoke to our tech and he said if you suspect that your CEM is faulty, you should take your vehicle in to a volvo specialty shop to get diagnosed and read for DTC codes. Once you get these codes, give us a call toll-free at 1-888-712-2525 and we can provide you with a solution for your CEM. Thank you.

Con la transmicion esta bloqueada😢😢😢
Thanks.
Hello! I spoke to our tech and he said you should send us your CEM for testing to determine the fault. We charge $75 for testing the unit. Call us toll-free at 1-888-712-2525 and ask to speak to our sales department or you can e-mail us info(at)xemodex.com.

i had water belowe driver seat, and then after that, had bunch of error codes...servo, parking sensors, parking brake, dstc even sometimes collant level...etc
Fantastic video, like it, very good, easy to use for learning, thanks👍
Absolutely wonderful video! How much is the repair cost for CEM & TCM for 2013 Volvo xc90 3.2?
Great video.. On my 2005 S80 auto transmission goes into limp mode and lights on the selector go off and the dash indicator is blank. All codes were cleared by workshop then went for a short drive. 3 new codes appeared (Modules with faults) 1/ 3F03 shift signal too low. 2/ 1A61 Communication with TCM control module signal missing. 3/3F83 immobiliser signal too low. Mechanic says CEM is the fault with my transmission. Any suggestions? Thanks very much

You're welcome, Dawn. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video.
Is there any plastic cover in the market for protection of CEM for future from rain water.
Thanks.
+sreviz Thanks for watching our video! Hope this helps!
can u tell me iv got Volvo s60 d5 185 b 2006 .the e.c.m has 2 delay. what or them for ?
My question to you is ,
it glows orange triangle current flushing beam headlamps may be because if someone fuse has been burned .
elchileno2006 If your question is that your headlights do not operate and you have a general warning, then yes the fuse may be blown.

Did you find problem and fix ?... My wife 2004 S80 won't start
Thank you!

Please call us toll-free at 1-888-712-2525 (US & Canada) or send an email to info@xemodex.com. Very ,very ,good video!!!
Thank you!
THIS is the one I have!!!
Thank you!
Fixed my immobilizer code and reprogrammed key transponder.
Will a bad throttle body keep the car from starting ?
Do you need to reprogram the keys when you change the CEM?
If the VIDA diagnostic tool shows that there are 0 keys stored in the CEM, then yes. Sometimes the attempts to add keys back through VIDA’s key application fail. In this case we would have to wipe-out the corrupted key registry in your CEM when we do a Program Transfer procedure which will make it possible to add all keys back to the CEM again using VIDA.
Very good video . Removing my cem next week .. what a shit place to this there. thank you volvo
Back by popular demand! Here's another Central Electronic Module #CEM #removal video for 2005 - 2013 #Volvo S60, S80, V70, XC70, XC90.
Hi i would like to ask how do i know if my CEM is faulty.? Thanks!
Thank you.
