      Are you saved? Where will you go when you die? Heaven or hell?
      The Gospel, which means the Good News is the news that God Almighty, the Creator came in the flesh as Jesus Christ to take away the sin of the world. The one God is a trinity of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The Son came and laid down his own life to save ours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for our redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. Although God's creation was created perfect, having no death, sickness and disease, the creation became corrupted through Adam and Eve in them disobeying God. In this rebellion the creation became fallen through the curse of sin and mankind became separated from God. This world is fallen, but God offers reconciliation to him through his provision at the cross. Ultimately God will restore his creation to perfection when he returns but those that who reject his offer of redemption will remain condemned by their sins and go to hell.
      John 1:1,14
      In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and THE WORD WAS GOD. [14] And THE WORD WAS MADE FLESH, and dwelt among us,
      1 John 3:8 KJV
      He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
      Isaiah 9:6
      For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty GOD, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
      John 1:10
      He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and THE WORLD KNEW HIM NOT.

    • @frasergibson5763
      @frasergibson5763 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @Gene Connor care to elaborate on that? In a profession where words, actions and emotions are paramount, the eyes don’t get paid as much attention as those other three traits. So what was wrong with my explanation, or indeed that word? It just seems like you have a personal hatred of that word

    • @frasergibson5763
      @frasergibson5763 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Gene Connor a lot of emotion can be conveyed in eyes. If somebody is smiling for example, you can tell from their eyes if they are truly happy or not. What I meant by “underrated”, is that emotions conveyed in the eyes can be often be overlooked by other emotions expressed by facial expressions.
      Your disagreement with my comment seems to come from a personal hatred of the word “underrated” which has no basis to the overall point of the comment

    • @solidghost1337
      @solidghost1337 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@frasergibson5763 idk he was a bit harsh but I kind of agree with him. Like havent you heard in a movie something like "he had dead eyes" or " his smile didn't reach his eyes"? Those phrases exist because it's well known that emotion is shown in the eyes. Even the phrase "the eyes are the window to the soul" shows this, the phrase literally means that even if the rest of your face doesn't show it, your eyes will show how you really feel. It's a pretty well known phenomenon that a lot of emotion comes from the eyes, I really don't think it's overlooked at all. I think this may be just you finding too much importance in your own observation.

      SJMJ91 this whole scene is pretty creepy, and when Lecter turns to face Clarice, whoa!
      Between his voice and how he describes B B abusive past, this whole scene and many others just gave me the creeps!
      Considering Anthony

      SJMJ91 I wish this whole scene from Chilton doing the ' turn key' line with Starling, perfect comeback from her, but still stop just before B b's
      scene with Katherine.
      The quid pro quo doesn't seem like a simple mind game to him
      imo. Some family members have even said He considered he a friend and did truly care about her. Why do you guys think he taunted Miggs to death? I also heard he/ Lecter doesn't like rudeness, doesn't mind kids company.
      And none of his victims in Hannibal were exactly innocent. Remember all this anyone?

    • @therevolvingmonk
      @therevolvingmonk 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That sequence is a masterpiece within a masterpiece. Demme uses one of my favorite techniques with the switch to the close-up of Chilton. By making that switch, he engages the viewer's imagination to fill in the blank of what Lecter's expression would have looked like as his voice slightly trembles towards the end as he delivers the line about Buffalo Bill's "terrifying" pathology. There's a deleted scene where Lecter is shown delivering those lines and he's got tears in his eyes. That would have been very out of place with Lecter so instead of being obvious about it, Demme goes to the close up of Chilton listening in and Lecter's lines become a voiceover. One of the best things a great movie does is leave out little bits and pieces at the right time to engage the viewer's imagination. It makes what you're watching so much more personal. Another great example of it is in There Will Be Blood after Daniel falls down the mineshaft then has to climb out and get to town. The whole thing isn't shown but you picture Daniel in agony, slowly hobbling into town using a stick as a crutch.

      Hopkins seems to overshadow Foster - and yet she is a bit like Katniss 1.0 - a survivor and a hunter (the opening scene of her running in the VA forest/FBI training center is her "hero's montage").. Yet unlike Katniss, she is willing to use her vulnerability as a kind of weapon when dealing with Lecter - she lets him get closer than was safe, so she could save others - or even in dealing with Jack Crawford. This is a film about "empowerment" done right (in a sense Clarise doesn't need "empowering" - she already is quite strong).

      He's a lost soul trying on different suits of identity, hoping for happiness & learning who he is.
      Admittedly it's very light on the subject, but my reading tells me transsexuals can be very unhappy with who they are. This would certainly have applied to some when the book was written in 1989. I'd have to assume some self-hate is involved.

    • @gaycowboy3402
      @gaycowboy3402 3 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      Basically, while they do say he isn't trans, there is the issue of the public still thinking he is, mainly because of how he dresses in women's clothing, etc. It's a shame, but many trans women still get called Buffalo Bill when they don't pass as a woman because for a lot of people Buffalo Bill is just who comes to mind when they think of a trans woman. It's more of an issue of the film contributing to misconceptions of trans women such as "all trans women are predators". That is statistically incorrect, but media has a huge influence on people's thinking and there aren't enough positive portrayals to reverse the harm done by more negative portrayals.
      Although, I do love the film despite this. It's a product of its time, I suppose. I don't think it's transphobic, or that the director had any transphobic intentions. More like people used it to fuel their transphobia.

There were multiple characters insisting Buffalo Bill was not trans and there was even the doctor who was like "we've been fighting for so long to persuade the public that trans women are not aggressive" or whatever. I liked that aspect. Harris really took his time to fully explain, whereas the film had limited time to do so. But people are assholes and will still weaponize a fictional character against trans people.

    • @codymays9943
      @codymays9943 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Luke Jones That’s why I believe that Tom Harris is objectively one of the greatest writers ever. He writes his villains like no other person can. Dolarhyde and Gumb are so sympathetic that it’s hard to hate them in spite of the crimes they commit. You can also have some pity for Verger, but he’s also the most sinister and outwardly villainous. Dr. Lecter is just a supporting character in Red Dragon and Silence and I think that’s why he works so well. He shines more in Hannibal and his ending with Clarice is just perfect to me.

      @@newnamestillhumanthough576 EXACTLY!!!!! That is exactly how I feel on that topic. People like that are the ones who think women's sports are snoozefests, unimportant, no-one cares, and inferior anyways. And if not just that, for sexy-time appeal at the very least, or added to the other reasons. (maybe they think trans women are getting in the way of their "sexy sports whammens vision" because they themselves don't like trans-women??? I dunno).
      Why do they care about our "honor" now? Thank you! That is EXACTLY how I feel about that. Pure lol, so thanks for bringing it up, because I just got new comments on this. Hey, I am certainly not in the anti-trans camp, I'm all for all womens/fems/feminine folk, so I dunno what Malice was talking about. Was a huge, "uhhhhhhh...." moment and it's a shame it's polluting a comment I made. The most insulting thing is that they try to get us cis women on the hate train as if the trans women are "stealing" from us, and we should be hopping mad and out for blood. (which the anti-trans folks wouldn't mind). It's double insulting because it's still sexist as frick while claiming to be on behalf of cis women. No. I'm friends with lots of trans people, thus trans women. I'm athletic and play against and exercise with trans women and all kinds of people, so I know first hand, it's down to the individual. I'm stronger/faster than some trans women, and some trans women are stronger and faster than me. Some cis women are stronger and faster than me, and I'm stronger and faster than some cis women. Heck, I'm even stronger and faster than some cis men. So what? A few weeks ago, I was accused of being trans because I have big-medium hands, size ten women's feet, work on my muscle definition, can bench a lot, and I have very quick reflexes. (They were really on the reflexes like that was a totally 100% man-thing for some reason). Like I know I'm not as physically strong as a lot of cis men/put on as much muscle as they can, or many folks on testosterone, but that was insulting like I have some kind of cap of expectations, and if I pass them, then I'm "sus." Get that mess outta here.
      I think it's sick how they are trying to get cis women to turn on trans women by using the "sporting events" card. These right-wing, Faux News folk KNOW cis women can be a huge ally for trans women and the right want to tear that down. At first, it was the "the trans women are trying to make a costume of you and replace you." (As if such guys weren't already talking about se-x bots "replacing" us soon already because we weren't "obeying", being compliant "real whammens", smiling at every single one of them in public on site like the forever-happy smiling-borg (for approachability with the known main end goal), and bowing to every little demand, or because too many rejections). XD
      Now it's the sporting events card because they know it will get to some women's self-esteem (negging by proxy?)...esteem which such people bash anyways when it comes to women as you said, so I don't know what the deal or "trump" card is supposed to be there. Only three movies have ever "swept" the Oscars, winning all 5 main categories (picture, actor, actress, director, and screenplay). This scene shows why Silence of the Lambs was one of them!

    This movie truly is ahead of its time.

    0:27 - I wonder if the late Jonathan Demme instructed him that Lecter already KNEW about Gumb and his obsession with moths and butterflies. At around 0:30, you can see Lecter already raising his eyes in acknowledgement.
