Doing it right 👍. Hitting up the local spots. Do show some of the food journey as well. Theres soo many dishes in kerala to try. I wanna see you try appam and ishtu , and keralan fish curry and meen polichathu, and fish cutlets, parotta and beef, and fish fry etc.
Sighting a tiger in Thekkady is very difficult due to the jungle terrain though there are 30 in that reserve according to last census. Bandhavgarh, Ranthambore and Tadoba-Andheri are the reserves which will guarantee one or multiple sightings. Thekkady is a haven to spot elephants and you can see them year round in the lake shore and especially during dry months.
@@TheRoamingPickels No worries. Tigers are difficult to spot in the jungle terrain and unlike lions which are pack animals, tigers are solitary hunters unless they have cubs. Nagarahole in Northern Kerala/Karnataka has better odds of spotting a tiger but even that is a hit or miss and that reserve has 100 tigers and semi jungle terrain. The dry vegetation reserves look like Bandhavgarh and Ranthambore are guaranteed sightings due to the terrain as well as high density of tigers. I grew up in Madurai and have been to Thekkady umpteen times while growing up in India and never seen a tiger. It’s a great place to spot hundreds of elephants. That walking tour though, is a doozy 😀 Best to take the boat tour which is what most people do and it’s cheap and goes around the lake and you will most definitely see herds of elephants coming for water and more during dry months. You can also see the Indian Bison, like ts of deer and other animals but tigers are really rare to spot and I hardly know anyone who has spotted it tiger in that reserve.
How exciting to see the elephants in the wild. I can just imagine how nervous you were when you saw the tiger scratching marks.
Yes it was an incredible experience! We were very nervous when we saw the tiger scratchings!

Most probably, the elephants noticed your presence before you guys even saw them. They have keen sense of hearing.
Quite possibly 😊
