This jamming can be avoided. The designers amatures and don’t understand drones completely. First don’t use DJI. Build you own with Pixhawk or APM flight computers. Then set up LTE radio as a backup link. Then get a lidar unit and set it to read heigh from ground and default to use compass if GPS fails…. These boards are open source and it’s easy to tweak the code. Now if you jam RF and GPS, it will still fly using lidar, compas, and LTE com. I have tested this with multiple units and it can’t be taken down it absolutely works. The main take away here is the compass will stabilize your direction while the LiDAR will stabilize your height allowing the controller board to give you normal control or should I say manual control of the drone while you fly over LTE data essentially cell phone data. Using LTE the radio just basically replaces the Wi-Fi radio the drone essentially doesn’t know anything is changed other than the data is going across encrypted cell phone rather than Wi-Fi. The only side effect is during this jamming the drone itself does not actually have a locked position so it’s flying manually under your control but it’s getting all the normal stabilization that a drone flying manually would anyway you essentially only lose return to home function but you have full control LTE and your video stream is coming back over LTE as well so you haven’t lost anything and you have full manual flight. The only way to jam this bird would be with high power cell phone jamming in which case they’re going to take their own phones out of service in the process as well as any other legitimate emergency or 911 system call in trying to do this. What I’m trying to say is you’re pretty safe from being jammed in this method.
I think this video is not about jamming, but hijacking. The drone didn't lost GPS signal. It get a GPS signal but a false one that the hijacker transmitted. Another point is that cell phone jammer can be made directional, so it wont disrupt cell operation in a wide area and it also require less power than an omni-directional jamming.
@@fadlya.rahman4113 good point always a work around . This video was how to make a false GPS signal to send out. Not all the countermeasures for getting the drone to a target. Although that is a realy good idea on how to counter a countermeasure.
Is it possible to build a large drone that can lift the mass of a large spool of fiberoptic cable that is connected to a smaller drone? If so the military can weaponize this system
my brother is a commercial freight pilot. lately a lot of flights get GPS-spoofed and become unable control. luckily my brother could manually enter the coordinates and override the systems, but for a few minutes the plane was unresponsive and was controlled by a third party. he was underway from johannesburg via jemen to amsterdam. we think this is 'practice' for a new kind of warfare. this is a terrifying idea. even the de-icing systems on the wings were shut down so that the flaps didn't work...
by manually enter coordinates does that means he is using autopilot giving new commands to override the spoof yet still behind the joystick of the cockpit?
"It would also be easier to control the craft directly" This assumes you know which protocol is used. It also assumes the control protocol is can be decoded and replicated. Spoofed GPS will work with any UAV which is using GPS as its main navigation input.
In a simple way,... I have heard of Chinees - Russian - Italian hackers some time ago that they where able to fly there drones in restricted zones just by letting there drones believe they where actually advanced GPS Robot cleaners via an included NorthStar Navigation Cube,... GPS MOD + SOME OTHER EXOTIC TRANSMISSION - RECEIVER MOD. LOL

LTE can be jammed, and LIDAR as well.
This likely happened to the ship that hit the fishing boat near North Korea a few years back.

What if it’s not in auto pilot?
I have a project to spoof a gps at A&M university. Any tips?
Mee too bro

i bet a 12guage would "hijack" the shit out of it...
GPS actually tracks in four dimensions not three. It would also be easier to control the craft directly rather than trough GPS>
Zorro may be mean "left right top and bottom" :) But... GPS system really operate with 3D dimensions (x,y,z) + time (3+1=4)

Last I checked, no one is planning on making dones travel through time outside it's natural speed.
IS there someone I can contact about this?
Michael Cook yeah sure inbox me david.j.schutz @gmail or david@sesp.com
