I’m actually intrigued on how well that actually fits in there, I have a 2000 forester stb that was imported from Japan. Been thinking of going this route if something happens to the original engine. Also surprised that this video hasn’t gotten a lot of attention! Definitely deserves more views

Odd no one has replied. It's because LS engines are pushrod engines and thus more compact than more "modern" OHC engines. Check out Tom's Turbo Garage on TH-cam and his Mazda Miata LS swap series called "Thunderbolt." He does a comparison between the original Mazda Miata engine and the LS he uses for the swap. If I remember correctly, the footprints are about the same. I think he had to modify the transmission tunnel a little to fit that in, but the engine just fit perfectly.

I use to build a bolt in subframe for Subarus to bolt in Ls swaps. You can make your tach and speedo work in that chassis. I've done it before.
