- Here’s a little look at what went on during finals day with Brendan Fairclough, Olly Wilkins and myself during Finals day of Redbull Rampage 2023!
We take you in for some exclusive access as to what goes on first thing in the morning before dropping in, Canyon Gaps for breakfast and crappy banter throughout here’s our finals day!

No. Brendog did not get robbed. Team UK got robbed. I am german first of all. What you guys did last week will be remembered forever. I had so much fun watching you guys. The gnarly inrun to the canyongap made my palms sweat for one week. You guys are the good spirit of freeride! Thanks for all the fun I had. Thanks for getting home in one piece. Sad you did not get rewarded by the yanks. The complete scene loves all of you ❤

everyone knows Bren got robbed. let’s face it it’s called REDBULL rampage lol. not Monster 😂. his run was epic he had every MTB fan in the U.K and further afield on the edge of there seats screaming at the TV.

You guys deserved the diggers award and Brendog deserved a podium. Judges were way off. No way was Zink a 95...
I wouldn't focus on the 95 number, thats just a number to beat based on what had been seen already, someone could have topped that score, but even Bren wasn't going bigger than Cam's flip. Bren definitely deserved a medal though, and the dig team murdered, but I do feel like Cam deserved the win, not just for the flip, the whole run was super gnarly.
Brendog is hands down the riders Red Bull champion. Screw the judges. Congratulations to all of you who put in such an amazing effort for all the riders watching.
I hate getting into things like this but, yes, he was robbed.
As you or someone else rightly pointed out, if you can do a "chill train" down a podium line is it really better than Brendans line? That is literally all that needs to be said about that I reckon!

100% , the reply by the judges after the fact was defensive and lacked any semblance of logic, I was dumber for just reading it. Just have riders themselves decide. Everyone knows he got robbed and they are right.
So right. Don’t get angry at much these days but the robbery and Berrecloths bull crap did.
They did a good job of explaining why Benvo didn't score higher but if anything they justified more why Bren should have had a higher score. It was really confusing
By Bearclaw's _own_ explanation, he definitely got robbed. I still am baffled about how Carson got on that podium.
Brendog was robbed, yourself and ollie were robbed. Redbull peoples champions with the gnarly line at the event from the battleship to jumping over another line on an in-run and the canyon gap! Well done fellas! Best line, best team, best vids!
Brendog won, simple as ... Proper Freeride line, not a groomed trick show ... Has to be said he absolutely couldNOT have done it without O-dub and Deakinator though, bloody heroes! 😜 Not a groomed train ride ....

Yes, as always. The line was top 3 with perfect execution and pure rampage spirit. Good job Brendog team! 👍
The fact Toms run got a higher score made no sense even to him he looked shock cause it wasn’t even an all out run / I don’t get it - they say fair judging but how can it be fair when you have brands and contracts on the line they’ll always pad their bikes - who is to say a particular brand made sure their bikes would win and have a few riders in the bag to take the trophy - anyways I just wish it was more clean cut it seems someone always gets robbed

The commentator at the judging booth openly discussed the fact that the judges were considering the ranks before actually submitting the result. That's a great definition of a rigged game right there. I feel like you absolutely deserved to be on the podium. New features, sketch and stoke at 11, all that. Ultimately, I will remember Bien's frontflip and this run. I honestly can't even remember Zink's run.
There's the Bois that just ride everyone else's stuff and practice their tricks and know the features like the back of their hand, and then there's the Bois that ride natural stuff blind, prefer off-piste and making up their own mad features... It's the same in every town.
Rampage started out for the off piste, crazy lads and that's the stuff I want to see. Most of those runs were boring, and I feel it's fairly obvious who were the top 3 at the end of the day. But team BrenDog is number one
Bren saying “a little close for comfort” says a lot about the gap
YOU GUYS WON! Does not matter what the judges think or thought. Does not matter what lame ass excuse the Claw gave.........The masses have spoken. Best line build by any team and the best ride out of any rider at Rampage 2023
I share the notion of many people on the web. But let's not focus on the negative, but what you have accomplished as a team. It's absolutely incredible and I loved that you took us for the ride and behind the scenes.

Absolutely, you were all robbed, the work you all put in was next level! I’d really urge you all not to go again, there’s nothing to prove at all. You’ve shown the mtb world you are the best builders and rider around, and all going again would do is increase the risk level and it’s not worth it at all. Maybe go again in 10 years and do the same run, that seems the way to do it 🙄

All 3 of you made the perfect team, well done everybody and the behind the scenes people we didnt see. I watched every video and really enjoyed them all. It really comes across in the vids how tight a bunch of friends you are. The amount of work put into preparing the drop in for the canyon was outstanding.
I saw the whole comp and Bren should definitely have been on the podium.
The Battleship and the Canyon were the stand out features of any rider for committment, risk, consequences, and just for having the biggest balls to do them.
You guys picked an original never before run line, built it, prepared it, and Bren ran it perfectly, what more could you ask for, job done. Nice. !!!!
The judges reacting to Cams line was embaressing to witness and they should be ashamed of themselves......Judges ? my arse.

In the nature of what RedBull is as a niche in the sports world, this spectacular is borderline insanity for those willing to put it all on the line. The technical and proficiency of each and every trick or obstacle being weighted should ideally fall back on risk and never done before. If Bren doesn’t clear that gap, we can say without a doubt, he will probably die or never be the same. That type of consideration should be 🔑 in the overall proposition of this event. New line with dire consequences is also 🔑 and Bren had both of these in his performance. The same can be said for the Spaniard, that front flip was insane. To place emphasis on completing the line in a desired time is absolutely ludicrous and is about time is money for the corporate aspect of this event. Again, why is a corporate sponsor the final say in these men’s lives, this is killing everything regarding the actual athletes involved with the risks. If this is what is happening to the athletes and all events, “made for TV”, you can keep it, lousy f!-ing future moving forward. Robbed! Bren and the team were clever and the line was brilliant! Cheers!

Well yes, but sadly it's something I've come to expect now. The judges have their favourites and the judging criteria doesn't reward what would be considered proper freeride any more. It's a shame, but that's the way it is. I just hope that you guys aren't disheartened by it.
yup corrupt judging or biased judging!! every year it is, they favor the vets like Zink and Straight and friends!!! I was glad to not see the crankworx judges there like Anton thelander, if so Emil would have had a 99.9!!
Yes for a few years now it"s been just a slope style event.
I thought he was robbed last time he entered and this year just cemented it.

I was there in 2019 to see him ride one of the best lines of the day, same story, not even a podium. He's not one of the judges bumchums. All you have to do to win is be old and ride to the bottom without falling off, apparantly. It was a spectacle but also a fix, again.
The comments under the replay on the redbull channel say it all.
Hell yes he did! This slopestyle shit taking higher scores over straight gnar is losing sight of what the event is about in be first place . Everyone there can do barspins and 360s and backflips . As everyone else casually rode beside the battleship brendog sent it and the canyon gap for a measley 4th place . Take the slopestyle back to crankworks and keep going bigger !

Yeah Bren should’ve won or at least 2nd. Bren, Cam and Kyle had the truest big-mountain downhill freeride runs of the lot and Bren went biggest with highest risk/consequence feature. The slopestyle trickery is obv epic but that isn’t what Rampage is sposed to be. Enough of the slopestyle crap. Rampage is big scary mountain downhill freeride. Ride the natural big features, do big drops, fly across canyons, get huge air, get down the mountain like a beast. Bren, Cam and Kyle did that.
My only thing was i didnt understand how zinks run was that far ahead of everyones, do judges really use nostalgia for points?

Brendan and others were robbed, biased judges with inadequate intellect. not only did Brendan lay down a heater he, you and ollie boosted the stock for the event with your vlogs. cheers to you guys!
Imagine going to a hot dog eating contest, eating the most dogs, and not even finishing in the Top 3. My msg to Red Bull Rampage judges: Watching you chuckleheads high fiving each other as one of your buddies lands a foam pit trick after doling out a score south of 90 for Brendan's truly innovative line was a complete insult to the sport and to the supposed spirit of Rampage. Props to Ben and Olly for being the perfect team to help Bren bring it all to fruition.
As always, you guys brought the heat. Best coverage, best dig crew, best entertainment, and the best rider.. that really got screwed from our Yank bro club judges. Hopefully they can go to a fan judged by text next year to eliminate the biased judging. Rampage wouldn’t be the same without you 3.

Yes one hundred percent. So tired of the judges at every event, not just Rampage, ruining the placings. For Brendan to not even get a fucking podium is a joke. Even when you read Berreclough's explanation about how the scoring works - IT STILL DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.
I really didn't care who won as long as the judging was fair so really had no bias but the judging was cringe worthy, did anyone notice the judges jumping for joy in the judges hut when Cam ZINK did his last run. They should not judge this event just let the riders ride or riders do the judging, Cam ZINK score was just ridiculous, Redbull rampage is just losing its appeal with the totally corrupt judging

The annoying thing is it feels more of a popularity contest than sheer skill runs. His was clearly the better run or at worst 2nd! 🤯

As always you guys, Team Dog, smashed the entire week. Your hard work was not rewarded, think Bienvenido, and you should have been 1 and 2, DEFINITELY dig team, that chute into the canyon plus the battleship are legendary features. We are so proud of what you did 🎉

The judging was terrible.... They gave someone 1st who recreated a line from years ago.... What happened to honoring progression
Not taking anything away from the runs of those who podiumed, but yeah, Bren should have been up there. His line represents exactly what a Rampage line should be: scary, technical, big - it had it all. So yeah, he did get robbed.
Brendog and you and Olly were definitely ripped off. You and Olly should have had the builders award. Brendog should have placed higher, Cam Zink run was not a winning run, he should have placed 10 -12 the at best.
Does anyone know what Godzi had planned? Was it double flip on the canyon? Such a rough off, so glad he was pretty much ok

Thing is Brendan had a fresh line with new features that were questionable. The top 3 had lines and tricks they have done in the past. Everyone knew the top 3 could do their run already seen it.
Even though Brendog was robbed, he deserved a podium place and not drop from 1st to 4th overall from both runs.
Robbed for sure. Best run by a long shot. My knees were buckling on the couch just watching it.
If it was a freeride comp he'd have won easily, although Gee would've been up there if he didn't have his crash, but Rampage isn't about freeride anymore.

Bren had the sickets rampage run in years, it was unreal, from battleship to the sui Canyon, top tier! I'm bummed that the judges scored the way they did, absolutely amazing job and huge congrats though on putting together such a spectacular line. Thanks to the whole brendog crew for the incredible content the last week and a half, it's been awesome to watch. cheers

The fact is one false move and two of bredgogs' features would have resulted in death! Also, it's funny how one of the judges felt he needed to post a video explaining himself. For sure he knew he got it wrong! Whilst some of the others swept off an old line and headed down to have a cold brewskie with there judge buddies you guys were up top making the mother of all lines smashing through a layer of jonny concrete then a layer of Muhammad I'm hard Bruce Lee rock with a pick axe, rake and a hose pipe from home bargains! Never been so proud to be British!
Love how you guys are having the best of smiles and spirit no matter the shitty judging (again). Scoring an insane FIRST PLACE and partying the whole thing off in Vegas without even bothering to be pissed at this rigged event. They go low - you go high! Thx for the swetty palms and please dont do something crazier next year. We love you in one piece ;-)
Guess that left you with a sour taste...the judges should be riders / ex-riders who aren't getting paid by the comp organisers....I knew the speed for the canon gap looked iffy when you were practising it...undoubtedly that took some serious mental prep...respect. Have you ever thought about rock climbing? The buzz is better :)
Absolutely loved all the videos you guys put out, it made me so hyped to watch Rampage live at 1am on the other side of the world. There's a lot of negative to be said about the official results, but lets just say my viewing experience of watching you guys build this insane line and then Brendog putting it down was incredible. And boy did he put it down, the entire line had you on the edge of your seat - more than can be said for 80% of the other runs I'd say.

I’ll answer the thumbnail question right away. YES, Brendog did get robbed! I’m still baffled by the scores but after reading through comments it seems the general consensus is the same. Screw the scores, you guys nailed it and Bren is a legend for smashing it. The videos tell the story 🤘🏼❤️

Between "Dwayne Johnson" drop, the previous canyon gap and the new canyon gap, the three of you built features that are keeping the Rampage freeride spirit. The rest are mostly leaning for slopestyle and bike park(ish) style of mtb.
Yes, bar the height differences, I have watched kids doing the same tricks at the bike park. BTW.. I'm an old fart and can't do any of them. 😢

So sick, I flew in a helicopter over the grand canyon a while ago, it was incredible. Anyway, you boys were the true stars of the show once again, I don't know how Bren does it and makes it look easy. Unreal.

Brendogs run was really the definition of Red Bull Rampage but they seem to have changed it to Red Bull Rip Off 2023! Kudos too to your diggers!

It seems like being creative and trying new things doesn't get you any rewards at Rampage... I understand there's criteria to their judging (apparently) but it seems to me that progression should score very highly and apparently it doesn't.
The 95 for Zink was an unbeatable score, it was pointless even going for a second try when that came through.
Absolutely he deserved the win, that run is legendary. The scoring was also disrespectful to the teams that put in all the hard work building a new line.
I honestly think Redbull need to step in after this year's event and have a pretty big review of judging standards and processes, paying special attention to nepotism.
The fact that Bienvenido won best trick, people's choice and spirit award and hands down should have taken the first podium yet didn't is all the evidence they should need. But they've also got pretty much every comment forum I've seen full of people saying both Bienvenido and Brendog got completely robbed.
This is the kind of corruption that stops the best of the best coming back and I fear if Redbull don't put in the work to review this contest in particular it's eventually going to die out with a whimper.

As soon as camera's cut to show Kaile Strait narrative I knew who win providing he didnt wash out. And the commentators dont even try and hide that they are biased, saying they are all close riding buddies. Get a global mixture of riders of different discipline's as judges. The judges look like a bunch of teenage mates looking at tits in there bedroom lol
