Rampage is the coolest event ever, the fact they just show the runs is almost silly. By far the coolest parts are the builds and when they hit things for the first time. Absolutely mental
Wow, great insights. Brendog did the Canyon gap today and it looked awesome. But I can't get my head around that battleship gap, this looks even more dangerous.
Mate! I wouldn't say this infront of Bren..... but that battleship is incredibly scary.... navigating the wind on that gap is gonna be the craziest thing. One gust and your blown off your landing and that is NOT a good result. Theres a small part of me, after watching Gee's crash, that doesn't actually want to support rampage! The risk versus pay off seems out of whack. Football players with very little risk get paid MASSIVELY but these guys get virtually nothing after all is said and done. A good convo for Ollie's channel. Is red bull taking advantage of these lunatics on bikes, will it stop when someones dead? I'm all for pushing the sport, but where do we draw the line? Madness mate!
Well it's a question of revenues really. We support our sport and athletes but there's very little money to distribute. The very fact that they get paid for doing what we can only dream about is their achievement. That said, you're right, we tend to forget the risks after a few editions without real damage. About red bull, I don't love them that much but they also support very small initiatives, we had them on a few occasions for our freeride contests.
@@AlainBoudard Racing has it's risks.... biking in itself is a risky sport with plenty of injuries. Any mountain biker knows that a broken collar bone is a very likely outcome for just being a mountain biker. But this event carries with it even bigger risks. These athletes are obviously not forced to take part, but after watching it again this year it's obvious that there's a certain level of pressure that causes athletes to not even want to do their second run. The relief when a rider simply gets to the bottom is immense and the feeling to cheat death is likely the biggest rush anyone can have. Wouldn't like to see the insurance bill that red bull pays for this event! It's actually quite stressful to even watch this event but it has a pull to it. What a conundrum..... humans like to push themselves to the limits. I'm curious how these athletes bodies will be when they're in their 60's or 70's.
@@NextLevelRiding you're right I noticed that too, and honestly if I were Bienve, seeing my notation for the risks I took, I probably would have skipped like Brendog did... Yeah you could feel the relief and sense of engagement, this was noticable.

The more videos I see about this, the more I am concerned for the riders. I love the fact that you guys always muck-in (hard). But...firstly this course seems more extreme than ever, with no additional safeguards (ok, that one's par for the course). But the big one for me is that digging all day takes its toll (especially in these types of conditions). You use different muscles which need to recover, plus the dehydration and general fatigue will be outside what the riders are used to (no disrespect intended). At the end of the day - you have spent your entire life getting to the top of a fairly well-funded sport, and you could be let-down (and much worse), because your body isn't correctly rested/prepared for what you are trained for. With that being said, I'm really looking forward to the event - and wish you all a clean, safe run.
I doubt the judges will even understand how much more difficult that canyon leap is, when one considers 20' of lead in track is missing (gap jump) as to avoid the other team's trail below........no other team has as difficult an approach.

Has this gone too far? Pushing limits, and progression to what is actually possible is undoubtedly the back bone of alternative sports. There is a stopping point however, where risk becomes absolute fatality, or chance of survival becomes zero. The battle ship feature is well past that point, there is no stoke worth a survival chance of zero, when things go wrong. Best of luck mates, OiOi. 🤙

I do think it is getting extremely dangerous like Brandons ft. Gaps Gs 30 meter drop. And other gap jumps. Is it really worth maiming yourself and even killing yourself for money and a trophy. It's to the point for me It's hard to watch anymore and I have done some crazy shit in my life. I just pray for all riders to be safe and successful.
This event is certainly going to be amazing, but I also don't know how I feel about the destruction of the canyon to make these jumps. Was there really no other way than to attack the canyon with sledgehammers and pickaxes?
Mate. There's thousands of acres of this stuff, a scratch in one little canyon doesn't even make a dent. Besides, it's nothing nature itself hasn't been doing for thousands of years - these lads just came along and sped up that process (in this one, specific area, that literally won't impact anything else around it) a touch.
