actually, no, Makarov's first appearance was technically in COD4: MW, if u played MW3 (2011) it is revealed that Makarov (and Yuri) were in the car that helped Zakhaev escape during his failed assassination attempt carried out by Lieutenant Price (his rank was Lieutenant at the time) and Captain Macmillan.
Ok, but that's not technically an appearance because they most likely did not even have Makarov in the works around the time of CoD4 MW since Zakhaev was the main villain in focus. Truthfully, the first "appearance" for audiences across the globe is "No Russian" in CoD MW2.
My theory is that because of the angle of his face at the moment of firing, the bullet didn't fully go into his head. It probably went through his skull, destroying his eye, but missing his brain.

Makarov is always the death I find the most satisfaction in. The way Price is struggling to get up, but once Yuri is down Price sees red and goes all out, killing Makarov in a way that probably could have gotten himself killed too. Of course the cherry on the cake is the iconic cigar after.
2:57 Yuri could’ve killed Makarov if he didn’t miss his shots. I always thought Makarov was a little invulnerable in this scene but rewatching this now I notice the details
I love the fact that makarov always wears gloves when he’s killing people, showing that he truly won’t get his hands dirty and always try’s to manipulate people into thinking they did.
It’s a shame about what the actor Kevin Spacey did but you can’t deny how great his performance here was. Man I just wish there were more missions where you play as an operator of Atlas and being able to side with them half way through. They’re legit my favorite faction in CoD.

Infinite Warfare is the MOST criminally underrated Call of Duty. The campaign in this game was awesome. Especially with the extra difficulty levels you get after beating it. The multiplayer was pretty good too. The movement, gunplay and hitmarkers were smooth. I don't understand why jetpacks get so much flack.
