    TRANSNET South Africa: Railfan Compilation #16:Transnet Diesels, Electrics & a Shosholoza Meyl train. In this compilation you will see the appearance of a ballast train, a steel coils train, the Shosholoza Meyl passenger train with vintage 6E1 locomotives and half a dozen Class 35 diesel locomotives stringed together to move a serious heavy load of concrete rail sleepers to the Saldanha-Sishen line.     Goeie video Piet! Ons was gister (29 Aug) by die Hopefield Fynbosskou toe kom die staal rolle daar verby op pad Saldanha toe.

      Hi Piet nee te lekker skou gehou! Het net gesien hy stop in die stasie en toe gekruis met 2 x 35s wat terug Bellville toe is ... het darem n foto van die 2 x 35s gekry by Bergrivier stasie vroeer..

    Piet you have a good spot to video the trains with a lot of varieties thankyou. Does the area you cover one of the cities. And how far do the overhead wires go to.

      Hi Ken, thanks for the view! I live in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, my home is about 200 meters from the mainline, I can hear trains passing by, but have no line of sight from my home. Many lines in South Africa are electrified, This one from Cape Town is electrified all the way to Johannesburg, 1600km distant. Many branch lines use diesel traction because these are non-electrified.
