  • It’s time to troubleshoot the front wheel assist on the tractor.
Every winter, we use my father in law’s front wheel assist tractor to feed hay. For the last few years, the front wheel assist hasn’t worked. Well this year we have snow on top of snow, and it’s near impossible to get around without those front tires helping out. So let’s go under the tractor to see what we can see.

Stan you and Pete at Just a few Acres farm are tractor repair guys now. Good job hope you find your part.
I agree about the carbon tax for essential services like home heat and power.
    Thanks

I think my journeyman ticket is probably in the mail now. Looks like the front shaft is also pretty worn, so still tearing into it some more.

Try Sexsmith Used Farm Parts. Probably your best bet to find replacement parts, or can steer you in the right path to find them. I also concur w/ Mr. Blum. What does the shaft splines look like that ground off the coupler splines? Hopefully, the coupler is made from a bit softer material, so the shaft will outlast it. I have spent the last 3 days plowing snow in preparation for the next foot of snow we get. Even plowed a trail to the feeding area for the cows.

The shaft is made of harder stuff than the coupler, but it’s still in rough shape. Going to be looking for both sides.

If the shaft is in bad shape, it most likely will strip again. First part is finding the problem. Second part is finding out why it happened.

Probably because I like to drive tractors and party.

Usually abuse, it's not going to just strip. It's Designed to use splines, as are hundreds of other tractors. So it won't most likely strip again.

Seem like a lot of BS for a 4 min video

It’s actually a 12 and 3/4 minute video. So probably more BS than you signed up for. Have a great day.
