Well, you are partially correct, baling to green to quick is part of the problem. There is a clutch assembly under the cowling on the pto shaft before the flywheel. Your clutch should be able to slip if you are wadding up. Shearing pins means your clutch is seized or worn out . Check it out.

You're welcome, we had a john deere and New holland if we were going through pins it was usually because of the clutch assembly. Best of luck 👍 hope it solves the problem.

I just put a new clutch on my PTO we are trying to make some test bales manual feeding so it wasn’t too much hay going in at one time. Should I back off on the tension before I try it again?

Yes, just a little, you want the clutch to work but not become irritating by constantly slipping. Best to check manufacturers' specs on tension for the clutch assembly.

Sorry Kathy, I should have started off saying hello first. You don't want your clutch plates or clutch under too much pressure. Like I said, best to check manual or manufacturers' recommendations. Happy baling.

We use Okbrand 14.5 gauge wire, but dad feels like the circumference of the wire is too big. We break down all the time. He wonders if the wire we are using is the problem. He lost a field of hay due to not getting it working in a time crunch. Any advice on that?

Sorry to hear about your loss. Been there before.
I would say the least likely reason for a failure is the wire. Running too fast through the field is my main cause of failure. Overloading the baler
