The Secret Thin People Understand

  • Dieting doesn't make you thin, dieting makes you a dieter.
And eating like a thin person is completely different than being a dieter.
After 25 years of copying the diet behavior of my mother, stepmother, mother-in-law, and step-mother-in-law, I realized that we had it all wrong.
And my Grandmother, who never dieted AND was thin, had it right.
What did my grandmother’s behavior teach me that my four mothers couldn’t?
Eating food when you are hungry is healthful, joyful, and slimming.
Eating food when you are not hungry is unhealthful, joyless, and will make you heavy.
Could it be this simple? Could this simple message work for you?
What about all the fructose syrup that ruins everything?? What about macro nutrients? What about Keto?
I address all of these issues.
    Bottom line:
To get and stay at your happy weight, lose your food obsession, love eating, and your body, only one thing matters:
Reconnecting with your body’s ability to guide you on what, when, and how much to eat.
Because, you have those intuitive instincts.
They are just buried under a layer of diet brain thinking.
Dig them out. If I can, so can you. And I will show you how.
After being inundated by diet culture from my four diet obsessed mothers, (mother, stepmother, mother-in-law, and step-mother-in-law,
AND YES! Intuitive Eating is compatible with weight loss, beautifully permanent weight loss.
Instead of copying dieters, copy people who were born before the diet industry normalized diet behavior.
Where are these people now? Well, sadly, in my lifetime, I have seen the almost complete extinction of these people, like my grandmother who was born in 1900.
I learned how to ignore diet messaging from her, and I am here to show you how to ignore that messaging and learn to be at your happy weight by Eating Intuitively.
As you begin to understand the value of eating intuitively, understand this:
The reason people diet is not because they work.
The reason people diet is because we have been brainwashed to believe diets work because:
    -Everyone around you diets.
-You saw thousands or tens of thousands of ads
-Before and after pictures of short term weight loss make you think that the weight loss is permanent.
The diet industry has the perfect business model- when you gain the weight back, you don't blame the the company that sold you on it, you blame yourself.
Don't fall prey to that anymore.
I stopped dieting in 2000 and instead learned how to behave like a naturally thin person. And naturally thin people eat intuitively. No diets. No rules.
    I will show you how...

Thank you thank you!! I’ve only just discovered you a little over a month ago, but you’ve helped me more than dozens of health/ED recovery coaches, therapists and dietitians ever have! ! I know your info isn’t geared towards eating disorders, but I am 40 also, and have had ED issues since about 10, and this is the very first time I am not fully consumed with thoughts about weight, restriction etc… the most free and at peace I’ve felt since being a child. And I’ve only been implementing what I’m learning from you for a few weeks or so. Please don’t stop doing what you’re doing!! Sorry this is so long but I was praying for guidance that wasn’t a strict meal plan or going all in till I was in pain and couldn’t move!! This is the balance I was looking for… dr appt yesterday was the best I’ve had -healthy bmi, labs are perfect, going out and being social, active but not compulsive workout routines….no food is “bad or good”, neither needs restricted or binged on! Ahhh life is good on the other side of dieting 💖

I understand where you're coming from and what you mean by 'thin'.
Also, letting go of diet mentality is - in my humble opinion - one of the best choices you can make for your health and happiness. And I truly appreciate your contribution to helping people do that!
That being said, focussing on weight/body size is still in direct opposition to what Initive Eating is actually about! Rather, it is an integral part of the concept to let go of fat-phobic prejudice.
My grandmother ate what she wanted and was overweight and super healthy her entire life. She gave birth to 11 healthy, chubby, children and died after a very short period of physical decline at age 94.
It really is OK, NOT to be thin!
Check out the excellent book 'Intuitive Eating, 4th edition' from the actual developers of the concept, Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch, if you are interested in the mindset behind Intuitive Eating.
Or, by all means, continue focussing on weight loss, if it brings you joy :o)
I wish you all the best.

Intuitive eating is about eating what your “body” wants within you body Boundries “hunger, balance, taste”
Most people ignore all of that and only focus on the food choices rather that their bodies, with that being said most people also miss what’s real hunger and what’s being feeling balance is

My grandma is 90 and overweight. I think... she is trying to relate to those of us who are not at a comfortable weight. I think she explains that well. Whatever your comfortable weight is....

Also, my grandma is healthy but always complains about her weight... she's also strong and active. I think this lady is more for those of us who DO want to lose weight AND how to listen to our bodies again without gaining. Other IE gurus that say I might gain.. I don't follow them.

I've lost weight dog intuitive fasting and lowish carb. I definitely definitely have insulin resistance and feel best keeping carbs lower than fat. But, I love your message! Your message makes it okay to have breakfast the days I really want it!🎉
