  • I was recently lent the new Volt 5 and Hero 2 by AirDesign. I thought an SIV style test comparing the two could be useful for people to see. I appreciate that not everything is tested, such as collapses under speed bar or A symmetric collapses - However I hope you find it useful in selecting your next two liner wing.

Disclaimer - I have not been paid to make this video and all thoughts are my own, AirDesign have had no input into making this other than lending me the wings. I am not a AirDesign team pilot. I have done video work for the company in the passed, but the following was my own test and opinions.

Your Video about the Soar helped me a lot. Iam flying it since then and Iam super happy. I still feel comfortable with the Soar and have the feeling it fits quite well to my skill level. Maybe next year the Volt will be interesting 😅

I'm still with Vivo but he convinced me that Soar might be the next :D

Hi Jake, thx a lot for this nice videos 👍👍 I notice you did it at 95 on the volt5. Did you also fly it at 95kg? How does it behave? I would be 95-96 with tent etc... I wonder if it is doable with this wing.... Thx for your help🙏

Yes that's our take off in Chamonix. You have to watch out for that!

Thanks for the video! You mentioned at the end you were hoping to do an XC flight later that day (of recording). Wondering if you ended up doing that, and if so, if there is a video coming?

what are you trying to get at at the beginning when you are pitching it back and forth? not sure if that's part of some SIV, but i really wanted to see if you could get a frontal collapse without collapse lines. I"ve heard some way you can with 2 liners and some say no.

pitching is usualy one of standard excersises to get yourself some understanding how the wing deals with energy..

what are your shoes? :D EDIT I finally could read ribelle tech? Is it a good option for flying?

Yes that's the ones. They are good summer alpine mountaineering boot. So depends what you need. I was wearing them as the walk to take off is a bit snowy right now. But I don't tend to wear them to fly unless I'm on snow. Hope that helps.

Is it easy to do a spin to backfly on Volt?
