Yeah, it don't take much for those older fans to get all woggly, I have taped flat washers and bent blades and had all kinds of fun with those over the years!

I had one of those to put up in a frends house years ago, it was brand new and after fitting it didnt work!!, i was well pissed off lol, it was one of those crimp cone connectors that held two wires together that was faultimicated. Solder and heatshrink sorted that :-)
Richard, try tire weight tape like you used to use on mags on a car to balance the fan. If you use a strobe light you can slow the fan down so you can see where you might need the weights. If this fails take the blades off and nail them on the walls of your garage so you'll have a fan club.
I love fans but I hate them as well one little alteration or change in them then you have that wobbly disaster that you got going on but if anybody can solve this problem it's rpeek I sure wish I had a fan here in Puerto Rico right now it's hot dang
That old one is an ugly fan, it would have been fine if you left it the way it was, or painted the whole thing. "Yall want to buy a new car.. Some of them run..." I almost fell off the floor, we all know how you are.

the blades look really really bent so you should probably bend them back or try getting a new fan blade brackets

The reason it still wobbles is because the brackets are bent. they are easy to bend back

Most fans are dual mount. Remove the rod and surface mount it. No more wobbling.
