    Learning to draft a basic bodice is important in garment production. The benefits of pattern drafting far outweigh the cons & as a pattern drafter I’m committed to sharing this knowledge with you. Let me know if you find these videos easy to follow.

    I think the horizontal line dividing the front an back body should not be equal because the front body is naturally bigger than the back because of our bust.

      Hey Josephine❤️… thank you for watching and for your thoughts. My pattern follows instructions from professional pattern drafters & draws influence from Joseph Helen Armstrong. Feel free to pick up a copy of his book & try yourself… also just so you know, the body is mostly symmetrical… the presence of breast doesn’t necessarily increase the surface area; that’s why it’s important to wear the right undergarments. Furthermore… when drafting a pattern, you account for that difference with the front body length (a vertical measurement) that differs & is longer (because of the bust) than the back body length.
      Feel free to use any pattern style you know & think will work for you but this has been used for ages & fits lovely, the side seam is where it’s should be ❤️❤️😁

    I decided today I was going to watch this video to draft the bodice. I took the afternoon into the evening to carefully watch the video. I did put it in slow motion to make sure I understood everything. On another day I'll take muslin to draft the bodice and see how the fit goes.

      When I was following the other video of how to join the muslin , I was thinking to myself I'm not sure if it's going to fit! Well I took a chance and my bodice fits so well with a zipper! My bodice is not tight, it's not loose, it's just made...exactly for my body shape. I'm able to move my hands up and down, bend down with no problem. I did follow your taking body measurement before drafting my bodice and shorts. The videos are easy to follow if someone sets time aside to understand the content. If I was trying to rush and stuff, there's no way I would have accomplished what I have.

      @@thaisnails7337 Exactly! When people comment that it’s difficult, I always try to explain that pattern drafting isn’t something you do in a hurry. While I’m not saying my video is the simplest, I’m not sure there are so many options out there that do real pattern & are this simplified. If you set some time aside, you’ll be able to draft it easily, I’m so so proud of you! Well done ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾

    • @SewUnique_ng
      @SewUnique_ng  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Onyi. I could do a video however to eliminate your dart you basically want to cut it off from the back shoulder. So if the back dart is 1.5 cm wide, remove 1.5cm from the back shoulder and blend
      Does this make sense?

  • @juetharampou4364

    Hi, so I just drafted this, but my bust point line is higher than the Armhole depth line. And also my top length for the front and the back is equal, so I don't have that slant line at the bottom. Is that normal? Other than that this is the best bodice I've done by far. The back and the front align perfectly

    Hi ma, good day. Please, I will like you to clarify a grey area I encountered while trying to draft. Using the method you taught for taking measurements, I have my shoulder to. Bust measurements as 26cm. My bust measurements is 97cm+ 6, that is 103 cm divided by 4 that is roughly 26 cm which is my bust point from the centre of my shoulder. Is it possible to have my under arm length the same as my sh to Bust point. How did I miss something? Also, is the sh to underarm not to low? Aside this, you explained all well to my understanding.

    • @SewUnique_ng
      @SewUnique_ng  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Toluwalase. Thank you so so much. Awesome question.
      That can happen sometimes and the reason that happens is because the individuals bust proportion is large in comparison to their measurements so it’s not strange.
      What I recommend and it works is to take the armhole line up by 2.5-3cm (above the bust line) when this happens. This doesn’t always happen so go ahead and move your shoulder line above.
      The shoulder to armhole line isn’t too low. It seems low but if you’re willing to try this out and sew it with calico, I assure you, you’ll be impressed with your fit. So long your measurements are correct. Also try not to approximate ❤️
      Thank you so much. Enjoy
