I just did this on my 2013 Mini Cooper Coupe and not only do the links all still work but the video is perfect. Thank you for teaching a first timer! The parts work great and it was as easy as you show. Subscribed!!
Hey, I did it! Thanks so much! My torque wrench only shows in/lb. and the metric numbers. Could you tell me the setting on the other side of your wrench? Thanks again!

Can you please provide the link for the other tool ypu used to remove the sparkplugs initially, i think its socket extension but which one should i get 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch or 3/8 inch for my 2011 mini coopper s n18 engine??
Thanks for the video - A lot easier than I thought. I did look up the parts on Amazon with your links and Amazon states the coils do not fit my 2008 Mini S R56 (saved s my vehicle on there) but I am thinking they may be wrong. Is there other coils that I may need? I just don't want to order and find out they are not fitting.
Between the torque wrench and the spark plug socket, I see you used a long cylindrical metal part not included in the parts to buy. without it I don't think I'll be able to reach the spark plugs. What's the name of it?
Anti-sieze typically isn't recommended for spark plugs due to the lack of moisture they come in contact with, it alters the torque results, and some plugs come with some sort of anti-sieze coating already on the threads.
I'm not an expect on spark plugs, but people argue all the time which is best. The ones I recommended in descriptions are the ones that Mini recommends.
The original coils looked like Delphi and the replacements Bosch. Would you say it doesn't make a difference? I've read the Delphi ones have that metal heat shielding over the Bosch ones or is that a so called advantage and a load of rubbish?
Bosch coils were the OEM ignition coils on these motors and that’s why I went with Bosch. They will work just as Mini designed them. However, in recent years, BMW started using Delphi coils on a lot of BMW engines. So, I would go with the ones that fit your budget best. I would go with Bosch unless you have mods and every little bit helps
I looked up the ignition coil part number you used to perform this replacement (0221504800) in the Amazon link you provided. The page says that the part number does not fit your car. What gives? Is Amazon incorrect?
Thanks for checking but this is the correct part. You can check on their website: www.boschautoparts.com/en/ymme?partId=0221504800&partName=Ignition%20Coils
Great video, many thanks. Where can i see the torque settings for everything that needs to be screwed on a R56 mini? Also... in my country, i get diff part No for the SparkPlugs and IgnitionCoils (12120034098, 12138616153) Any clue what might be the case here?
I used newTIS, but they have been shut down since then. See if you can download a BMW manual or INAP for your car. As far as different part numbers, what model and year car do you have?
@@SimpleCarGuy Roger that. Thank you for replying. Definitely loved your video and anedotal commentary. Helped me feel comfortable doing it myself. Much appreciated, friend.

Do you have any tips on getting out stuck coils?
Great video, simple explanations and to the point, well done and thank you! New subscriber here.
Awesome, thank you!
Great video, and yes, you need to have that special spark plug socket. Mine also has a magnetic ability to help pull out the spark plug.
thank god for these DIY I was so close to drop $500+ 🥸
Two of my coils came out easily as in your video….having a heck of a time pulling out the other two…..recommendations?

That’s just a socket extension. Comes in almost any tool kit I’ve ever seen. You can also buy a set of like 3 for $10
Very good tutorial

would misfires and loss of power be caused by the need for new coils and spark plugs?
Absolutely. It's not guaranteed that the issue, but 90% of the time plugs and coils will fix a misfire.
If it has oil in the spark plugs
bosch original !?!? for this car ? 🤷♂️
Yes, I believe the OEM BMW parts were made by Bosch.
Yuo don't recommend using anti-seize thread compound?
I followed the steps in BMW's manual, they don't mention any anti-seize compound. Thanks for watching!

I think they recommend every 60k miles, but I usually go until I get a first misfire and then change all of them.

As far as I’m aware it will not fit in there as it has to be thin wall socket. I haven’t tried it though and it’s only like $5-10 for the socket.
