Tired of the Mini?! Never! The Mini literally changed my life! I live in South Texas where everyone (and their mom) drives Trucks and huge SUV'S ......then there is the small group of us mini drivers! Why on earth a single person needs to drive a TANK is beyond me, for me, the mini is not only classy, it's in a world all it's own! Plus the way it handles on the road, I could go on and on but I'll just say thanks for these tips on the mini, I really appreciate it!
Has to do with balls - I guess. I am living in Germany; 15 years ago we all thought the US guys are stupid driving such huge SUVs, as there is no more place on the inside than in an estate. TODAY the most selling car category in GER is SUV (thought way smaller than an Escalate :-)). We now have the problem that people cannot handle a mini truck that cannot be overviewed, like a Golf can. Therefore people are driving like newbees. The standard argument is: Safety. As a car enthusiast knows, this is nonsens. It just gives you a "feeling" of being stronger in traffic. Note our streets are way smaller than in america, north south, us, canada.
I recently bought my Mini Clubman and so far I'm really happy. Diesel is expensive compared to the US but the Mini is cheap enough to run that I don't worry about it. Also, it's plenty sporty enough on the road. It handles well in British weather, including high winds. There is plenty of space in the boot and although I need the drivers seat almost all of the way back, it's reasonably comfortable to drive. It's certainly easier to park than my old Mitsubishi 4x4 truck although the L200 never had problems with some of the poorly maintained roads over here where I feel every bump with the Mini.
Your videos are particularly useful since those of us who bought a new mini during the pandemic could not have a demonstration of the instruments etc and are having to work it out ourselves.
Careful with #3 if you have a manual. I had the key in my pocket and stalled her out at a red light turn green in 5 o'clock traffic. Tried to start her and nothing. Had to dig the key out. The sounds of a thousand horns blaring still echoes in my head lol.
I know this thread is old, I have driven my Mini 2013 Paceman S manual with the key in my pocket since I bought it 2 years ago. NEVER a problem. If the battery starts to get low the car's computer reads it. Then it lights up an icon in your Tach Speedo display low battery Fob. All you have to do is plug your fob in once and a while to charge the battery. Around town which is 80% of my time I don't plug it in, but on longer trips if I remember I'll plug it in for the whole trip. If the battery will not hold a charge for a long time, then you have to change out the battery, which can be easily found at Walmart and how to's here on TH-cam@@SimpleCarGuy
The information about the digital speed dial is so helpful! I was getting stressed driving and having to look over at the analog dial. Thanks for the video! 🚙

The "summer feature" you mentioned that rolls down the windows also opens the sunroof and unlocks all the doors. As someone who occasionally has the problem of having the remote activate while in my pocket, I consider this feature a problem. You can't defeat it that I have found and if it happens when you're in the living room and it's raining, your wife will confiscate your keys for her mini cooper and not let you have them back...
I've had BMWs for about 7-8 years that have had this feature and I haven't found it to be an issue other than one time where i came out to my windows rolled down about 2 inches all around after a long day at work. I do agree that some features should be configurable in the car menu. Thanks for watching!
You can actually turn it on or off if you want with Bimmercode, Carly, or other coding apps on your phone with just a simple wifi/bluetooth obd2 dongle plugged in. It's how i turned on the roll up feature on mine and turned off the dumb seatbelt chime and bulb checks causing strobing on LED headlights.
There is a hidden key inside the fob, if the battery is too low to open the door. On the back of the fob push the silver button hard and use the ring to pull the key out.
I love mine! I saved some money today by installing the upper trim over the grill myself. "Chrome", which is really just plastic. I am proud of myself! If I'd had a body shop do it, it would have been much more than 35 bucks for sure!!! The trim got broken and I had it on there with some rolled up duct tape underneath lol! Because if you can't duct it, lol.....

Thanks for this 👍🏽
Where did you get that stereo. I am looking for an after market stereo to replace the oem one
That’s OEM navigation system, not aftermarket.
Any idea how I disable the beeping sound when I unlock and lock the car? The beeping bothers the neighbors. We have a 2011 Mini Cooper S.
If you have the navigation, you can turn it off in the settings. I'm not sure on the cars without as I've never had one.
Those are really good things to know..... thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

HOLY $*%# ! Thank you! I knew about the digital speedometer but nothing else! I bought it at an auction, so no book, if it ever had one🤷♀️
Since the video was a year ago, can you come back to video on Mini's! 😊
Glad you learned some stuff about your cool car! Unfortunately, I had to sell the Mini.. that was a sad day. I'm looking for a 2014+ S now.
I have a Mini Cooper 2012 from America. Navigation works in America. Question-how to delete addresses of trips from navigation memory?
If I remember correctly, you can go to last destination and select Delete Entry. I don't have the car anymore to check, unfortunately.
Hey, I have a question. Can you play music if your phone is connected to the Bluetooth? Or Bluetooth is just for calling only? Thanks
On these cars the Bluetooth is for calling only. Thanks for watching!
You can connect your phone with an auxillary cord. Works just fine for me.
