  • I know a lot of people have been asking me when I was going to do my Akaso Brave 8 review, especially since I posted that teaser video 4 months ago of the Prototype. Well in this video all will be explained and a close look at this latest action camera from Akaso. Does the Brave 8 perform as good as it's specs on paper? Let's find out !

Hey Andre, great review! Super cool comparisons at the start.
The Super EIS actually works fine - you just need to export the videos shot in this mode through the smartphone app - it asks you whether to apply the stabilization or not, similar to Insta360 One R workflow.

You do a great job on you’re reviews. It’s a lot of work and it’s appreciated. In my opinion, the Akaso brave 7LE walked all over the brave 8 in video quality. When watching the video, looking at the bricks on the wall of the building behind you clearly tells that story. As for sound, none of the Akaso’s have good sound. It was so nice to hear the Dji audio after listening to the Akaso. The Akaso cameras remind me of the days from the 60s when movie cameras had no sound, especially the brave 7 which is just inexcusably bad. I’ve been looking for a decent action cam for quite a while and it’s hard to wrap my head around the price of a decent one with good stabilization, good sound, and good picture. That said, I’ve hoped to find a more inexpensive version with those features. But I’ve concluded that the Akasos simply don’t get there. So I accepted that to get what I want, I was going to have to go up the ladder in price. I like the GoPro but it’s exorbitant price tag, especially considering it’s worst flaw of freezing up or shutting down in the middle of what could be important video is a deal breaker. Moving on to the Dji Osmo action 3 seemed promising. It didn’t freeze up, battery life was better, and the price far more reasonable. However, after watching countless videos it seems the Dji has its own flaw which is a now quite in focus issue. Different TH-camrs have shown a way to adjust its focus, however, Dji hasn’t adjusted it’s price to compensate the buyer for fixing it themselves. If that issue was resolved I would likely buy the Dji action 3. I would see that as the best bang for the buck. That said, neither the GoPro or the Dji come with hardly any accessories. Akaso, by way of including a bunch of accessories with their cameras, have at least shown that it would cost GoPro and Dji hardly anything to throw in some additional accessories which for many, would sweeten the deal enough to sway a purchaser like me. It would be nice to have a dedicated action camera, but for now I’ll use my iPhone 14 pro max for my limited videos when out and about. Thanks for another great video and all the work you put in.

Thank you for sharing. Looks kindna like DJI Osmo and the audio is as good as Osmo too. Hopefully the prize will go down in the future. I bought 2 Omsos a while back for $199 each. I love it. I got bunches of fishing videos on my youtube channel using Omso shooting at 1080/60. Videos looks great. I am a long time Akaso user myself. I own Brave 4, V50X and also 7LE. That audio sounds fantastic. But $280? Yowch.
I wonder if the price on the Osmo went back up due to the hype about the Osmo Action 2 - the camera is suddenly getting a lot of spotlight and now DJI has to justify their rumoured $400+ price on the V2. Hard to do that when V1 is so affordable.
Great review, love the editing style.

    • @WORTHITORNOT
      @WORTHITORNOT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes it’s great that Akaso finally figured out the audio situation and this one sounds very good. I think you’re correct about the Osmo Action but then again all the ones for sale now are not from DJI, it’s from 3rd party sellers and Amazon itself hence the price gouging. $280 is way too much for this camera. Thanks for watching

The osmo 1 jumped up 100 dollars on Amazon right after I ordered mine. [Was 200, now is 300].
I was thinking out waiting to see if the dji action 2 got very good reviews , , . Good thing I went with the original.
I hear of pretty much all of these action cameras overheating.
My osmo can't roll continually [more that 10 - 15 minute's] without overheating while the settings are above 2.7k / 30fps
      [Can also have HDR on]...
Which is disappointing, but in my case - isn't the worst thing ever. Seeing as I'm just using this thing as a body camera .

It doesn't get cold in Texas, just varying degrees of hot. I went for a business trip to Houston once in the winter when it was in the 50s there and I saw some lady with a little kid so piled on with clothes he looked like the stay puff marshmallow man. Everyone else also looked overdressed for the weather.
That being said it looks like the brave 8 trades audio quality for image and stabilization quality. Couldn't they have just kept the brave7 video and stabilization and fixed the mic??

I agree about fixing the audio on the Brave 7 ! This Brave 8 has some potential but the price needs to come down. Btw, it does get cold here in Ft Worth, last winter it was -2*F with a wind chill of -19* and it dips into the single digits every year :)

Hi, I love the review. I want to create outdoor videos of my garden (walk-throughs, etc.) and take photos I can use for creating digital art and really struggling to find an affordable camera with decent video and good audio. I'm in Mexico so prices are usually much higher. I can get a new XTU S3 for around $307, a new Brave 8 for about the same, an Osmo Action 2 for $348, or a USED osmo action for $230. These are all online so I have no way of checking the used model. I'm still looking for a good option, but really frustrated because I really don't want to spend more than the equivalent of $300 for this since we don't make much money here. I've seen in many reviews that most Akaso cameras have poor audio and the colors look washed out and the Go Pro cameras are very expensive and overheat (and I'm going to be moving where the highs are in the 90s most of the time next year).

It's a class action lawsuit waiting to happen when they get hacked and the hackers get that email login info for all their users. But does it continue to require your email login info long-term for each time you use the app, or for any other reason?

Now regarding dash cameras, I HATE most of their apps and refuse to use them as they ask for permission to access all your photos, microphone and phone book, WTF do they need access to that for?, so safe to say I hardly ever use dash camera apps lol

Thanks for the review. I was ready to buy this camera till I seen your review. What's with these companies that want you to activate these devices? DJI, GoPro now Akaso what's with that!! I don't want to give these companies access to my devices and cellphone that I bought and paid for with my money, do I own the product or not? My Samsung phone tells me there is an upgrade if I want to download and install but if I don't they don't block access to the use of my phone like the DJI assclowns. Well at least not yet they don't. Hey call me old fashion but I don't want a communist country or even my own country (USA) having access to my data and GoPro needs to get their act together and fix the heating issue with their expensive cameras. There is NO 'newer' sport camera out there that I desire to purchase at this time even though I would like to have one. I have a couple old original Heros (no number, first ones) 1080p still work like a champ even being around salty seawater most of the time. I have a Akaso Brave 4 that isn't half bad. I put these on a gimbal and that cures ANY stabilization problems but now I have to deal with the size and another piece of equipment. I just can't win.🤨

@@janislocis-paruskins4121 Trust me, I have been reviewing Action cameras for 6 1/2 years and reviewed hundreds of actions cameras including the Hero 5/6/7/8/9 and 10. My Hero 7 is still working great, my Hero 8 still working great, Hero 9 had audio popping issues and my Hero 10 no issues at all and I use action cameras for B-Roll and as a C camera in many documentaries. Budget action cameras will never perform as well as a GoPro or DJI action, period. For people that can't afford a GoPro then Akaso does offer some good performing products for the price.
