Why would they want to work when, a lot of people in Korea work over 50 hours a week, there is no work / life balance, employers often don’t stick to labour laws or they are poorly enforced. Plus no one can get a decent job unless they went to SKY, people are judged on their appearance before their qualifications and all the jobs are concentrated in one place, Seoul! So I don’t blame them. But at the same time many of them are living at home being a financial burden to their working middle-aged parents who will have to keep working after retirement in order to survive. Terrible system for a country that is supposed to be so advanced.
Good points and they wonder why people are not even bother trying. They have a low birth rate and now this and many other issues too. Sadly, when any country advances this fast, they will sacrifice a lot of thugs and then collapse. It is happening in China right now.

@@TrinhNguyen-sh4fj actually standard of living is decreasing. If things are becoming too expensive for people to afford even with a full-time well paying job that is not a higher standard of living.
I know in the USA that lots of companies are putting out ghost ads for jobs, and it can make the already time and energy consuming job looking process even more frustrating. Also many jobs in the USA are advertising salaries/pay rates that don’t even cover half of the costs of living. Entry level jobs are requiring x amounts of years of experience and masters degrees but are paying between $20,000 and $40,000 which is ridiculous. Entry level jobs should be entry level. If you are going to require people to have years of experience and/or masters degrees or higher then pay them appropriately.
Exactly... Not just in the US of A but I think worldwide as well even in my country. Back when I was still job hunting, I experienced the same. I sent out like around 30 resumes daily to different companies but received very few callbacks and those who called were offering unreasonable salary. It took me 5 frickin months to secure a job with reasonable pay and I'm glad I did. And yes those ghost ads were really annoying
Our state can't even keep up with working complaints and throws them out because of the lack of "Qualified" personnel...but they request more budget funds. They could use AI. And develop appropriate measures in place as well as recommend certain actions must follow. This is sad. They make people send letters out because they don't want to digitally deal with concerns.
Companies only want to hire overqualified candidates willing to work for entry-level wages. Or, they are looking to contract out, outsource, and off-shore their hiring needs so that they can pay people a third or less of local wages and not have to worry about offering benefits. The social contract is broken. Companies are not holding up their end of the bargain. They only want to reap the benefits of operating in a first-world society but do not want to share in the costs of maintaining a healthy society. So, I don't blame young people for giving up, especially if they went to school, got good grades, and got a college degree. They did everything they were supposed to, and it still isn't good enough for these greedy companies. Why contribute to a society that has little to offer you? We are entering into a cruel new chapter of capitalism, one where companies only care about short-term gains and little to nothing about their actions' long-term effects.

It’s the same in Europe. In Germany at least.
Computer science degrees paying peanut wages now. Its over.
Here's the best part. Schools don't care about the job market. They got their money and that's all that matters.

Across the world. Working hard doesnt reward you. With the internet we now can see that and dont want to waste are lifes working while the rich enjoy themselves.
Employers are extremely picky these days, and they need 37 rounds of interviews.
In 7 months I only had 12 days off and I was working 60 hours a week, every Sunday on every event like Christmas and etc.
Worst year of my life, a couple of months I worked from 9 to 9 almost double shifts and at the end of the month I got a 100 bucks as compensations, thankfully I've been unemployed for 4 months and FREEDOM HAS NO PRICE
Yup, been there, though I didn't get robbed nearly as hard.
@@yaelz6043 for the better! But still NO ONE should have to live in a job and even if you were paid better you can't exchange freedom for a bit more money, having to work more then 12 h a day should be a violation of human rights, unless you get heavy compensations for working overtime!

I live in Switzerland/Germany. It's the same problem.
The problem exists everywhere.
How bad is it in Germany?
@@shadowreflex1030 From what I know less worse then where I work (Switzerland). But the salary is lower.
Not surprising at all, just an inevitable spiral with this definite outcome. Study hard just to realize there is no job or career ladder for u to climb, some even struggles with student loans and such. Retirement age is getting push back because of aging population and most importantly inflation, so there aint no space for new joiner.
Just look at the number of humans competing for that job every year… how can everyone be employed for the same role, it’s literally impossible
People across the globe seem to be giving up and instead going their own way, particularly men.
Not only men, you're just a man so you probably don't read about women's experiences. I and my peers haven't been able to find a job.

With AI advancing, more jobs will be lost. It might be time to consider universal healthcare, housing, education, and food security. As tech replaces work, people will need better safety nets.
Because employer want a 'fresh graduate' that has 10 years experience while at the same time they want to pay for a cheap price.
All you have to do is to born rich. Unless your brain is outwardly smart or you are beautiful enough to please others.
It could be worse, in my country you can find a job, but salaries so low that you can't afford a rent, so you should choose between being homeless or hungry
Singapore re also the same
Reminded me of when I got out of school. Even though it’s the medical field and there were jobs almost all of them wanted prior experience (or were so far away that gas would’ve eaten half my pay at minimum and would’ve been nearly impossible if I didn’t have my old car). Even entry level. I was like how can I get experience if I don’t get hired? I had to take a job that wasn’t in my field and work for less than half of the entry pay for the job I should’ve been able to get out of college.
I went to college and got a degree where jobs were because it’s always “we have a shortage” and that shortage has been there for decades. I luckily had a family friend who took mercy on me and offered me a job that allowed me to gain experience but I didn’t have a stable position or income and no benefits. It took a while before I landed a full time job elsewhere and have been there for years but I’m not happy with management BUT I know it can be worse, I’m lucky to have this stability and not many places are even close to the standards where I work.
NEET should be legalized as respected job.
It is, it’s called being a coomer. And it serves society by being a laughing stock. Every society needs its clowns.
Agreed
Working jobs are not even monetarily worth it anymore
Its all over the world and rightfully so . Company's want people with medical and engineering degrees plus 10years of working experience just to work in a supermarket
Korean companies have the worst interview process i ever experienced.
To be fair, it might not be the companies fault. Korea is a nation raised on online games. People lack real life social skills. So the interview process itself might not be bad, it’s just you’re antisocial so any social interactions feels bad to you.

You can't blame them.
Look, it's gotten so bad that at some point, the government needs to step in and make some rules about hiring and enforce them. These companies will never regulate themselves, they created this problem, they hold all the cards, they have no incentive to fix it. somebody has to do something.
There's one thing that can never be messed with, and that's the ability for someone to get a real job.
Same in France...

Not young Koreans, but young people.
People work to improve their lives. That is not happening with the way the world is operating today. What incentive is there, if you are to own nothing, and cannot pass on generational wealth to your offspring. Where are the incentives that usually drive a career and the years of hard work. People can see this. Young and old.
I decide , leave my job after 11yr time last october, now helping out friend and still applying for other jobs.. to many people or no reply 🙃🏴
Jobless is a choice against the job market's absurd expectations. People will live through high tech and not care about their expectations.
stay strong my korean brothers! hold the line!!!!
This is what happens when systematically try to push these cookie cutter norms of achievement: a degree, a good 9-5 job, be high achieving highly successful so that ..... Xyz respects you not out of your own fulfillment for doing things you like.
Creativity? What that ... Trying an unconventional job ... Yeah struggle bunny go ahead.
This social brainwashing has terrible effects on our generation and overall innate purpose in life
why work if you MAKE NO FUCKING MONEYYYYYYYYY FOR WHAT????? SO THAT THE GOVERNMENT CAN BUY A NEW YACHT?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 lmao
the problem with this is, you can stop and give up on finding having a job, but sooner or later, income you have or save up will not last, and you will need money for food, and stuff, it can only last as long as how much money you have, it can get depressing at times, especially when you reach certain age.
😅That's actually a worldwide problem 😅. Not long ago, I also graduated but it's hard to find a job easily, in my country. I have gone to many interviews before but now I don't even feel like to apply for any job. 😅. I was graduated with Bsc in Applied Sciences (chemistry, physics and computer science), 😅even though it's so hard to find a job according to my degree, there are lot more odd jobs 😅😅. Even I have made my mind to do that kind of work, but my mam, doesn't like the idea 😅. What to do😅😅. Life sucks sometimes 😂
Unfortunately, even having a high degree or degrees does not guarantee a job or high paying job.
I honestly think it has to do a lot with just dumb luck to.. my wife also has a bachelor in biology and is searching for a job for more then 5 years now. I studied a bachelor in IT and when I was about the finish school I applied to 3 job places, got 3 interviews and 2 offers. Decides to go with the one close to my house, and they send me to a government agency who just happens to need somebody. I worked there for 2 years until they asked me to move to there. I work there for 5 years already mostly from home. So I did not have 1 month between school and work. My school is average, my scores were average and I live in a rural area.
@@Johanneslol11 Yeah, I also think too. Most of the people I know , who doesn't have collage degrees work fine and even earn lot and by the time they even acquire high post with experience😮💨😮💨. I guess my luck is pretty bad. 🤕🤧🤧.

Then you go online and find out more than half of the positions you're applying for don't exist or was just put there for legal reasons when they're not gonna hire online in the first place.

It's not just on S.Korea.. It is all over the world included Philippines and I'm one out of them. The root is the realization on being employed is in terms on just getting survival income (The boss is getting richer while employees always strive their best to do their jobs daily). commuting is hell.
Well well well if it isnt the consequences of:
- Poor labour laws.
- Unfair hiring process thats heavily discriminatory and biased towards the individuals looks rather then merit (Huge issue in korea).
- Having to deal with people who don't deserve to be promoted being promoted through nepotism and favouritism by bosses.
- Long and gruelling interviews even for basic jobs
- Low wages
- Everything being centred in one place (seoul)
- Requiring insane levels of education for basic jobs and offering low wages too!
I wonder why young people are fed up
