    Great review. I just bought this model tonight, and you went over things I didn't know about the car. I bought this model (SE) 2019 on 1/29/20 and paid 17,999 with the cold weather package! You can get good prices on the 19's right now. My salesman told me that the 2020's don't carry the 72mo/72,000 warranty. 2020's are 48 mo!

    One thing I love about VW is the car seat anchors. Exposed like that is great. Makes moving the seat in and out of the car a breeze. Was a total pain in the ass in my last few Camry's. Especially on the new Camry's. VW is all about simplicity. Love it.

      @Kate B - Thanks for letting me know. That's quite interesting - they are cutting back on the 6-year warranty. Initially VW said that the 6-year warranty should put to rest all past reliability concerns and makeup for the dieselgate fiasco. This move makes me wonder if they are having a bunch of quality issues and are trying to limit the financial exposure with the 6-year warranty.

    It’s not real leather 😉 I am not sure why but in the US Volkswagen sells their vehicles for less but also uses lesser quality than in Europe. For example the leatherette seats or no led lights on certain trims. Less powerful engine options also.

    • @NorthernUtahDashcam
      @NorthernUtahDashcam 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Blair Aquilia You are right they discontinued the Jetta in Germany which is a shame. They must not be a market for small sedans anymore. Only small and large SUV’s. There is still a market for Diesel engines here in the US but Volkswagen ruined it for themselves a couple years ago so they don’t offer any diesels anymore which is a shame also. Even all of the US car manufacturers do offer smaller diesels now. I also don’t understand why they discontinued the Touareg in North America. There is a market for SUV’s here and many people do not like the engine like up offered with the Atlas and the Q7 is too expensive.

      @JoesGoldenGarage 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Jones even tho I loved my golf. The issues ended my relationship with vw. But my 2014 Jetta and 15 Passat were a pleasure and never gave me trouble. Tiguans have been troubled in general. I go to the vw credit auction twice a month and all the tiguans go thru with some kind of issue. If I buy another vw it will be a basic model. No sunroof. No options. The engine in the 3 VWs I had were all the 1.8tsi and were great motors. No issues. VWs 10k oil change is bull however. Change it ever 5k. A turbo will not last long with 10k intervals. The DSG tranny can be troublesome as well. Stick with manual or the traditional 6 spd auto. This Jetta in this video is too new to know if the 8 spd is any good.

    Interesting review, is this in the same rental group as the Elantra because next year my wife has decided that we will be going to Canada on holiday. Canada seems to be a lot more expensive than the U.S as a compact ( Elantra) is the same price for what I paid for a premium car from Boston last year. However this or an Elantra seem perfectly adequate.

      @@100RentalCars '01 Golf MK4 1.6 manual and '09 Passat 1.8T DSG. (Also an MK3 back in the '90s). You appreciate a VW not from the beginning but day after day and finally you stick with them like a perfect spouse for life. Why? For two basic reasons, first they have all that you really need at daily basis if you 're a logical, sensitive, intellectual person and second if you ll starting like and appreciate the interior and comfort around you all the other cars no matter the price looks like a Playmobil or from somewhere else that you don't really understand.
      Now, I ve heard and read for unreliability etc. Don't know what happens in the states, maybe it's the mexican made of the cars. Fun fact, only in North America car buyers compare VW with Kia and BMW with Honda . If I was a resident in the US I would certainly bought the cheapest Golf with manual transmission but I think its the most expensive, the R one from Wolfsburg assembly plant. It's a pity that you don't have the choice of the T-Roc. Excellent vehicle. Sorry for my English, my Greek are worse😀😀 Hope to gave you an idea, keep on your excellent videos, I really enjoying them. Panos, Athens Greece
      PS. Currently I own also a BMW 116 and used to many other manufacturers such as Opel, Fiat, Toyota, Alfa Romeo,Ford, Lancia, so my view about VWs is not so biased but under longtime usage.

    Wow Gas here is $2.19 a gallon. Dude you have a Prius? I hear those last a lifetime. And Bro they took the Car anchor covers off because in rental world they know they would just be missing. They’re just little covers that come off. I had to laugh when you said the front looks like a Elantra and I thought it looked like it’s Big Brother the all new Arteon. My deal Breaker on this car is the lack of amenities in the rear and no dual climate. Although they may have it on the higher end trims.

      @@rickmjr9569 You must be 12 years old to make such an unnecessarily rude post. Hyundai vehicles have a much better reliability rating than Volkswagen these days. The Koreans are even doing better than Honda in that regard. Reliability aside, many people would never buy a vehicle that did not have an independent rear suspension. That is part of the reason the sales of the Mazda 3 are down.

    16:11 reliability / durability. VWs are designed to impress when new, not to last. Not durable at all. Cost cutting everywhere beneath the surface. Many components (engine periphery) made out of cheap plastic. VWs are a scam. Biggest difference between first impression and actual quality out of all cars (together with Audi). Lots of issues already on 2019 cars, and the reeal issues (engine, gearbox) will only start as they get older:

      Mine '01 Golf looks and runs like "new" . Minor issues after 18 years. Beside basic maintenance didn't spend more than a 200€ for all these years. Don't understand why owners in the US complaining so much for VW cars.

      Panos Coach I’m betting yours is a diesel. Diesel is a different story, we don’t get them here. The gas powered vw here are incredibly unreliable
