      Thanks Andrew. I was going to add Christmasy music to this and I forgot. Also, didn't realize it had to be done by midnight East Coast time, and I barely made it in time. Technically I didn't make it, because I scheduled it in TH-cam to release at midnight our time, but Sam sent me a message and I received it right away and was able to change it to Public.

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker

      My miter saw goes to 60°. 😊👍 I have seen other videos were they cut a 45° and place up against the fence and then adjust the miter from 45°, so 9° from the 45° is 54°.

    Would the angles cuts be different for a longer board lengths. The initial board length in your video was 10 3/8". I want a board length of 22" (inside dimensions) from Left tip star to right tip star. That would be 22" without the width of the board. So if the board width is 2", the overall dimensions from left tip star to right tip star would be about 27" taking into account the angles that would be a little more than 2" of width. Sorry, that's a lot, but just want to know if the angles change with the board length changes. Great video and thank you for posting.

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker
      @TheBeardedWoodworker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would think the angles would work, you just need the right ratio of both pieces that connect and make the point. I found these measurements on line, so I don't really have any other size references. Good luck with it. Perhaps try multiplying my measurements by 2 or 3?

  • @gpredd1
    @gpredd1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you, I have a question; to make the star larger do you just increase the same length on both pieces?

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker
      @TheBeardedWoodworker  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not 100% sure, but it makes sense. Apparently it was a fluke I divided the dimensions in half to make a smaller one, because I haven't been able to do it again. Let me know if you try it and it works! Good luck.

  • @tlmerwin4

    What would the measurements be for a 48" and a 24" star?

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker
      @TheBeardedWoodworker  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really wish I knew. I saw rhis specific star on line. I've tried making it using different dimensions and it just didn't work. I tried cutting it all in half and it kinda worked for the video, but then I tried it again, and it didn't work! Sorry I don't have an answer for you.

    • @TheBeardedWoodworker
      @TheBeardedWoodworker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't realize that most don't go pass 45°, sorry. My old DeWALT sliding compound miter saw goes to 60°. 🙂 There are ways to make jigs for both miter and table saws, but I don't think you can do the one piece of wood few cut method. Does that make sense? You don't need to do it my way, u was just showing how to do it with less movement of the miter saw.

      Yes. I cut one size first and then essentially cut those into the 2 different sizes. This helps with getting the correct angles on each end. Sorry, because it was such a fast video, I didn't go into depth as I should have. After cutting the first ones at the 10 3/4 (or what ever size I said) you take each of those 10 inch pieces and cut those almost in half, so the stop block at 5 3/8 (or whatever ever measurement). I did it this way, as I thought it was easier to get the one bevel on one side, and the other bevel on the other side. Does that make sense now?🙂
