I say any of the great players from the past would play great in today's game. They would just have to change their game some. However, saying they wouldn't put up with Rodman's antics/style of play today isn't fair, because you can see from the clips they didn't put up with it back then. They did for a few years when he was with the Pistons and then his three years with the Bulls because they wanted the Bulls to win. But when he was on the Spurs before going to the Bulls and after the Bulls the league clamped down on him hard. Also, there's a lot of players today who do shit and get away with it so he would learn what he could and couldn't get away with. I'll say this for Rodman. He was the master at getting into the opposing players' heads. He would get people kicked out of games, sometimes he would also get kicked out but sometimes not. Plus, he'd be the best rebounder in the league and a great defensive player and he could hit shots at times when they counted.

"In his career Rodman has paid $163000 in fines".
For the kids, in 90s currency thats over half a mil today.. easily.
    Thats
Not only a high output, but also longevity achievement.
    Surely thats a record ??

dennis existing the NBA for so long is proof of how soft today's league is.... I dont care what any fan today says. the most exciting and entertaining basketball is physical, emotional, unfriendly, and not "made-for-kids".

I miss old-school NBA. They should replace the commissioner, put the old rules back together(with the defense), and hope that LeBron retires since he's the one with the biggest contribution to all of this crap.

Rodman would be less effective in this era due to the rules and officiating changes that penalize defense.
Not saying he wouldn't be effective, just LESS so.
Also, 3 point shots bounce further out on average when missed, which would drop his rebounding some (and I'll remind folks he was only a great rebounder for HALF of his career, though that seems to have been more of a "coach wants him to focus on other stuff" issue than him "suddenly learning great rebounding" issue).

What half are you referring to? His rookie year when he barely played? After that, he played more and was a beast in rebounds per minute and was an INCREDIBLE offensive rebounder and then just got better as he got more time

@@spacelion4763 Prior to 1991-1992, he was a fairly good but not all THAT impressive rebounder.
1991-1992 his rebounds per 36 minutes jumped *3.3* rebounds per 36 in one year, and over *4* from 2 years or more before that.
Good before that point, IMPRESSIVE after.

Love the work, the power, the dedication. Hate the cheap tricks and need for attention.
I wouldn't want him on my team. It would be exhausting to bring a ticking bomb to work with you every day

The real G.O.A.T is Bill Laimbeer, he taught Rodman how to be Rodman. Laimbeer will always be Obi-Wan to Rodman being Darth Vader. 👍💯

Sorry. Rodmans game was straight 1980s to early 90s. His lack of shooting ability, especially from mid range and deep and his very physical defensive style would both negate his rebounding prowess. Hes the one who would be playing in China today.

I was never a big fan of Rodman's antics, but he could play on my team any day. The only issue with Rodman playing in today's league is he would probably be thrown out after 2 minutes in every game! Some soft ass player like Durant or LeBron would start whining to the refs, and Rodman would be gone. MJ would have never won as many rings without Rodman playing for the Bulls, that is a fact!

Dennis Rodman played to entertain the audience.
Today’s players play for money, stat padding & load management only.

I respected his game and his toughness, but IMO these lowlights are examples of how selfish and disruptive he could get in those years. I remember watching a few of these games live on TV and getting really annoyed at what a twat he was acting like, having no regard for anyone else in the building.

I don't feel like this video showed any love to my all time favorite NBA player. But you say you loved his game so I wiil go with that. And to the Rodman haters in the comment section; I feel sorry for you for missing Rodman's career and your ignorance. And oh. By the way. Rodman averaged 25.7 points and 15.7 rebounds with a field goal percentage of .637 in college so please shut up.
