Most of these comparisons forget to mention that Pixels are available only in a handful of countries in the whole world. Pixels are unavailable even in most European countries. This alone makes A54 the winner for most of us.
@@MatthewMoniz You said that Pixel 7 is way more expensive in the rest of the world. Yes, I can buy an imported Pixel 7 here in Finland (with high price) but it doesn't support 5G or VoLTE without rooting. Pixels don't have required configurations for Finnish carriers. So Pixels are not only expensive but they're also practically unavailable. Pixels aren't even an option.
I wanted to get an imported Pixel 7 but then I learnt that it one sim and the other is e-sim (a thing we don’t have in South Sudan). I’d choose the A54 because of the dual sim, the expandable memory and ease to find spare parts and accessories
Great comparison. Nice to have the choice of a discounted Pixel 7, and of course, in the US, the Pixel 7a arrives soon. As you mention, the choice is far wider here in Europe, and even last year's flagships are now edging towards the A54 launch price. IMHO, I would choose the Pixel 7 out of the two, but I would maybe get a discounted Magic 4 Pro or OPPO Find X5 Pro, both of which I have seen for about £100 extra. Thanks!
Choosing a Pixel phone could be a good option if you plan on installing custom ROMs in the future. The Pixel phone is popular among developers and enthusiasts, and there are many custom ROMs available for it.
The Pixel's UI is just so clean and polished compared to Samsung's OneUI. Definitely one of the things I've noticed when swapping from my 7 Pro to S23U. And while the hardware is better, overall l think that the software made much more of a difference in user experience. So something to keep in mind especially when buying these mid-range phones where their performance are similar.
I got on launch day the a54 and it's a pretty solid phone. I was a huge pixel guy, but since I moved to Colombia you can't get them here officially unless you're willing to import them, which adds up to the price. As for the Chinese phone I avoid them for security concerns (I work in InfoSec)
A good video and comparison... I checked out the A54 at Best buy when I was picking something else up and I agree with you. It kind of has a mid to low range. Feel to it with the speed. I think here in the States if you wait for it to go on sale which it will and drops 100 bucks it would be a good phone at $350.
It's perfect at every level man...no one needs more performance and adults don't play games...not to mention updates will improve it...but everything else you get is simply incredible
@@Bambotb hey I'm not saying it's not a good phone. I'm just saying I think it's price too high when it goes on sale it'll be a much better deal. The pixel 7 was on sale for about 450 for about a month. So if I can pair those two phones, the pics of seven isn't much better phone, so that's my thinking on that. But hey, I'm glad you're enjoying your phone and a month and in a month or two I'll be enjoying the same phone for probably 100 less
For that price, the Pixel is the "go to". I'm f****** tired of depth and macro cameras, so useless. The one thing I liked about the a54 is the micro sd slot.
I have to keep pointing this out to reviewers cuz they keep getting it wrong. As you have. Please go watch the video disassembly/breakdown of the A54. You state that it uses a lot of plastic. It does not use a lot of plastic. The A54 is made out of a one-piece aluminum internal frame. And gorilla Glass 5 on front and back. The outer bumper. Which is not the frame it's just a bumper; it is made of polycarbonate. It has eight small tabs on it that screw to the internal one-piece aluminum frame. So granted, yes; it has more plastic than the S 23. But it's not entirely plastic as You lead one to believe. And I think it's a much better looking phone than the pixel. I have always thought that all the pixels are quite hideous looking. And I find the A54 to be quite nice looking. And I think the cameras great. it's not quite as good as a pixel but it's much better than the last two phones I had and it takes just fine videos. And as I speak to you I'm coming up on almost 48 hours of use, with about 14 hours of screen on time. And I still have 47% battery. I don't care about speed. I like efficient chips where my phone lasts more than a day. This phone is the first smartphone I've had that has battery life like my old flip phone from the early 2000s. I'm sorry but the pixel doesn't hold a candle to the battery life this phone does. I recommend A54. So far it has been the best phone I've ever owned. Better than any of the Notes I've ever owned. That is all.
@@nurkeyali8325coming from a flagship it might put you off but its just one those things these reviewers like to cry about but you get used to it fairly quick overall I personally don't think its a deal breaker
@@maxchopin409 I tried a pixel 6A. Nice camera but didn't like it. Especially the camera bump. So ya don't like the pixels but if you do that's awesome enjoy.
Screen size, battery, & price matter the most to me and I got the a54 $100 cheaper. I'll take performance but I'm not shopping for it. Like the "protect battery" feature of Samsung. Works for around town and I just charge 100% for long trips.
Have ans enjoying 7 Pro since November last year and about to order Samsung M34 as a secondary phone today with One UI 5 something and OS updates for 4 years & security for 5 years. Best of both worlds IMO.
I'm using a Pixel 7 Lemon grass and got the phone with minus $200 CAD discount a few months ago. Really great deal and enjoying it so far. I was using a Galaxy S10 plus which is still working too.
@@kaylekutkind I'm not a creative. Just took to learning it during the pandy. Consumers are just looking for the best quality with the least effort. I get that. The edited quality is just interesting to me. Upscaled 1080p looks just as good as 4k scaled down for youtube. You really can't tell the difference.
The new pixel 7a is out but it has only 128gb and no expendable storage. if there was at least the option for 256gb but like this it's impossible for me to buy what would otherwise be a perfect phone
I got my Pixel 7 256GB in February - 2023 for 816.99€. I was using a Galaxy S5 before that and before that I was using the Samsung Google Nexus S. This is my 3rd ever smartphone . The Base Pixel 7 128GB, still, in stores, where I live, costs 639.00€, the 256GB is almost 200 euros more. For reference, the new Galaxy A54 128GB costs only 409.99€ and the 256GB is 478.99€. This does not make any sense! :D My only gripe with the Pixel 7 is the fingerprint scanner, it is miles ahead from my previous phone, but still, it is not 100% accurate, just like at - 2:15 :D
One UI is a better pick for me. I've used the pixel 4a before and I loved the UI until i discovered the multitasking capabilities of the Samsung. While I want the great cameras of the upcoming 7a, I do not want to give up the side panel and settings within one UI. Also, the battery life is better on Samsung.
Battery is also good on Pixel. A guy last night with a Pixel 7 showed me his battery life and he was making 1.5 days with 6 hours of screen time. The fact is that adaptive battery needs some time with every phone, even galaxy. But about the UI I can confirm (I've had before an android 11 stock device) that the UI on Samsung has waaaay more features. You just need to learn them: popup Windows is there unlike Pixels and IPhones, routines is a life changer, audio separation with Bluetooth devices (i use that to not destroy my DAC with TH-cam when Spotify/player is open), wifi diagnostic built in. The only May complain is the lack of APTX HD codec and the way SAMSNUG wants to push some of their products, but i can deal with that... I also suggest animation speed to 1.5 😅👌🏻
The One UI makes the Android ecosystem Lag and clunky. You're better off buying Pure Android Experience with a Pixel or a flagship Samsung if you can get past the ugly UI.
@@TrioLOLGamers when you put a skin on top of a OS it will eventually lag down your device. But there is noticable difference when using One U.I and Pure android Experience. One of them will always be faster.
@@thetacoguyy The S23Ultra at launch was probably one of the most stable flagships of the year esp when you look at the 7 Pro launch issues and the iOS 16 stability issues. The S23Ultra required many updates to dial in its camera, and still needs a bit more to handle hdr. System lag/stability is not the issue with 23U, and OneUI provides many features that the Pixel is lacking. As far as your 'it will eventually lag down your device,' OneUI provides lowkey auto reboots as needed when it senses that. The Pixel 7 Pro real strength is in its voice processing and related suite, and its color tone of people in cameras. 14Pro series strength is a strong ecosystem, apps, and point/shoot video. I have daily driven all three. OneUI on mid/lower tiered devices is noticeably worse though, that is where I would 100% grab a pixel (like this video) even 7 Pro used you can get for $550 USD, absolute steal.
I've been thinking about getting the Oneplus 11 but for the a54 being $400 atm and the Pixel 7 being $450 if that happens again, I don't think I want the Oneplus 11 for best bang for buck. Only wanted because it would be fast, alert slider, and fast charging. But I've been happy with my Oneplus7 other than its old poor battery, so I'm looking to upgrade and these two caught my eye. I'm really just looking for great battery like and at least 6.4 inch screen size.
Don’t even think about a54 after OP7. You would feel its lags and slowness in comparison to yours previous phone. The only advantage of a54 is its battery and OneUi, which is subjective. I guess OP11 is really great option, the only disadvantage for me is its curved display.
@@lisercool I want a the Op11 besides the fact that it's too much phone, I don't play any heavy games and don't want a $800 without insurance since I buy unlocked phones out right. That's why I'm trying to stay under $500. And would keep my OP7 but it struggles to get 2 1/2 hours screen on time being 4 years old so I'm always carrying around a power bank, plus I want more 4G connections and access to 5G.
I actually bought the A54 at first, but could not stand the lagging. Returned it and bought the Pixel 7. Very happy with it, in contrast to the Finland issue, in Sweden it's very fine with 5g. The absence of SD-card is no issue, with google drive or Onedrive.
Pixel Front facing camera is really good but the microphone has too much sound noise in it. Where as the A54 has the better microphone but not the best of video in terms of quality.
This video made me very happy that i got the Pixel 7 at Easter rather than the Galaxy A54. Also the fact i got it for $298 including some free Pixel bud pros :)
@@shaivontefreecss4194 the battery is good but not great. Turning off 5g has definitely helped. 5g isn't really worth it it where I am in the UK anyway as it's not available in most places
I'm not super keen on taking exceptionally good pictures but having had an S7Edge and an S20+, I've always used a large microSD for my pictures and music. That leaves my phone's memory completely free to only run apps and only the apps I want. I can't imagine not having a micro-SD or some other on device memory extension. Paying 2dollars a month doesn't sound bad but it adds up really fast. And I'm hopeful the synchronization can be configured to only occur against WIFI as my son's plan (in the very expensive data market in Canada) is rather limited. I was all for looking at getting a Pixel 7 to replace the S9 my son before he heads off to University but this makes it a hard switch for me.
I´d go all the way Pixel, the exynos is like a SD778g (the same we had on Galaxy A52S) and belive me with updates the phone gets slow, my A52s is still a great phone but you can feel the difference from when it was new up to now with the latest update, the phone gets laggy, not even talk about the regular A52 that thing with a SD720g feels like a $100 phone nowadays, the a54 will age really bad
The Chinese phones available here in the EU have 2 years of security updates, often one every six months. So they are woeful in terms of software. Google makes excellent phones with outstanding software, but the lack of expandable storage forced me to have two phones; a Pixel 7 pro for Comms and a Sony (with storage and jack) for multimedia...
2:16 Good to see Google still hasn't fixed their terrible fingerprint sensors. Took you 3 tries to get it unlocked even with holding it down. It's the reason I got rid of my Pixel 6 and will never use a Google device ever again
Yeah, it's bunch of those small things that annoy the people most in day to day usage. I guess that's why Samsung still looks like good contender here, despite inferior SoC
You're correct. I live in the Philippines and we have tons of options. We have Pocco, Xiaomi, Vivo, and Realme. I actually use a Redmi Note 10 pro but man I want a Google pixel and it's expensive here!
The strange thing is that in Italy is that A54 is way cheaper than pixel 7, but both of them are official distributed here, so the situation shuld be similar to Canada or the US.
Soo many of these phone reviewers whine about lack of wireless charging support. Guys these are budget-to-mid range phones. These phones are for the working class people that don't spend the money on gimmicky crap like that. Besides, wireless charging is slow as hell. I care more about how FAST a phone can charge. Of course, the OnePlus phones completely blow Samsung and Google out of the water with battery life and recharging speed.
"Touching my fat belly". There's a visual I'll never get out of my head. I've always found the physical appearance of the Pixel 7 appealing. Don't know why, it's a subjective thing of course.
Furious Greek here. It's such a shame that VoWiFi/VoLTE (making calls via WiFi/4g) doesn't work on the Pixel in so many countries. I don't understand the reason for this - choosing the Pixel would be a no-brainer for me. But in the occasional absence of good signal, these features are valuable. (Quite satisfied A52 user otherwise, but the Pixel is so yum)
really appreciate the fact that talked about global market phone pricing. specially in south Asia here phone pricing isn't the same as USA or other Europeans countries.
I wouldn't be interested in either of these phones, but i still watch so I know what's happening with phones in this price range. More importantly, I see you're creeping toward 700k subs Matt. It wasn't so long ago when you were sub-200k, and I'm glad to see your channel growing as well as it has. You deserve it man. Have a great weekend.
Can those of you who have a Pixel 7 confirm if the fingerprint unlock fail @2:15 happens, and if so, does it happen often? It took him 5 sec to unlock it because of failed attempts..
Longer Android support with a slower and less powerful processor is going to turn into a bad user experience in 3 years when the latest Android OS barely chugs along on the A54
If the 7a comes with wireless charging, a microsd card slot I'm leaving Samsung for now despite being a huge fan of one.ui and how the phones look like atm.
The problem in my country is that Pixel 7 and 7a are almost 100$ more than i can get A54. Good to live in US for those phones having basically same price. I bought A54 and i still think this phone is amazing for this price. Those little stutters doesn't really bothering me since it happens mostly only when u first time open or scroll an app/game while it's off ram or background running.
I was looking at the A54 today I don't think the processors good enough, scrolling was very choppy and sluggish... I wasn't expecting that. The Google is a nice looking phone. As for all the others you don't get regular updates quickly and only for a couple of years. The honour phones are very nice.
If you're planning to buy the A54, just go for the s22. It has better build quality, camera, screen and overall. And, s22 is just around 400-500 right now.
I had the 6a and had heat problems and massive signal issues in a big metropolitan area, that makes me a little nervous about picking up the pixel 7 it really doesn't matter to me if the pixel was $200 if I can't get or make calls send text or get on the Internet it's just a pretty block of aluminum and glass in my pocket 🤷♂️
I'm a pixel user but not every phone battle is just about the camera quality. The Samsung has better battery life and a better screen and much cheaper $330
A54 claps every single poco/realme etc phone at the current price it is (can be found at $370-380 ish) Maybe not in performance but it has higher build quality and better cameras + 2 years more software updates and is a better all rounder overall. Better poco phones (like the F5 series) or the Pixel 7, cost about $100+ more here, and even the pixel 7a costs more.
in this price range another good competitor is the Oneplus 11R or the Vivo V27 and i have been confused for a while. In india A54 is like 38K INR, Pixel 7 is like 45K, Oneplus 11R is 35k or 40k. My number one requirement is good camera and then performance
Ome plus 11r is quite good imo. 8+gen1 is a quite capable and imx766 takes good photos. It also has fast charging. The only problem is the curved display. I myself like curved display but most people prefer squarish display
Well he is right about the different vendors thing cuz here in Pakistan we don't even have pixel phones and like he said that we have other sub brands like oppo realme and poco. Like I'm using a poco phone which is the poco x3 pro and performance wise it is a gaming phone cuz it has the snapdragon 865 processor and a 120 hrz refresh rate screen, while it is an ips panel in my 1 year of using it i haven't felt any problems with outdoor visibility. So yeah as he said the pixel in Pakistan is very expensive compared to the a54 but i would choose a midrange pixel over a samsung just cuz of the camera's and software
I live in Latin America and here the approximate price of the a54 is $400 while the pixel is not even available here. So if you want to have a pixel, you have to buy from a particular or buy it through internet which will increase the price at some level. So, in the best scenario, lets say that a pixel will cost you $600 dollars without taxes and the a54 for $400. So the difference is quite high, in that case the a54 is the easy choice.
A54. I get all the functionality of my Galaxy Watch 4, that I was able to pick up for only $135.00. You take the A54, add the Galaxy Watch 4 to it, you have a better deal than the Pixel 7, then trying to get a Pixel Watch that costs so much more. Nearly 50% more! A54+Galaxy Watch 4 = a deal that Google can't match.
How are you Matt watch your video couple of times. I have tmoblie. I have a54 5g. Put I also like the pixel 7. I'm on jump on demand. 20 bucks plus my service pixel 7 is 499. Now a54 is 450. The pixel is 22 bucks jump on demand. So for 50 bucks more I feel like pixel 7 is the way to go better package. And will also get updates for sure.
The A54 has been on sale for $375 at Best Buy for the past 8 days. At that price its a steal. I think the Pixel 7 is probably the better phone, but similar to Apple, people are getting stuck with Samsung's ecosystem a bit more than before, and that includes the One UI skin on Android 13. In that case, I think that the A54 is the pick, or maybe even the S23 when on sale for those willing to spend a bit more. There was an activation deal with Best Buy as well last week where Totaltech members could get it for $599 which is a no brainer for anyone needing a phone.
I'm using a lg v60 and I would keep over both phones LG v60 almost years old. And is a better work horse over those two. Pixel 7 might be it benchmark but not in overall performance. And a54 any day get video Mathew I like pixel 7 and a54. I have xl hands. And both are just too small.
It kills me that if you look into the stats of the entire current A-series lineup, for instance on GSM Arena, you see that there are better feature options listed there than on Samsung's US shop, especially in chipsets and RAM (4GB on the A14 and A23? Really? My old S10+ sits at 4.8GB in use after my average day of app usage and "closing" them all). Turns out, those are pretty much exclusive to India where the competition at the low/midrange price point is so much stronger with the Chinese contenders. Dammit, capitalism...
@Tony I looked at the 6a but 128Gb of non-expandable storage is a deal breaker for me - cloud or not. I'm already storing twice that amount on my sxdc card. The Samsung also has a better screen - bigger, brighter, and 120Hz rocks. Even the A52s was better in this regard.
@DMC12Gauge I take photos using my Sony full frame camera and sync them to my phone to edit in Lightroom. 33MP RAW images really add up. There are also apps and games, Netflix alone stores some 8GB on my phone. Then you have the OS files. 128 GB is not really a lot these days.
@@MatthewMoniz Another reason is: Sony phones are ignored by tech youtubers. Fact is: There ARE current premium phones with expandable storage, headphone jack, notification LED, etc.
Both are pretty good handsets. You'll be happy with either. Basically any current midrange or slightly older flagship will suit someone just fine for a few years. And did this donut conplain about the bezels on the a54? Are we STILL complaining about bezels in 2023?
@@idontevenhaveapla7224 speak for yourself. I know a lot of people who do, problem is the phones with small bezels are more expensive, so people don't have much choice. It's not like they enjoy big bezels....
I think this comparison is a bit unfair because you are comparing google's flagship against Samsung's midrange. Also the fact that the price match only happen for a certain moments instead of permanent one meaning only lucky few can actually do this comparison. As for the rest of the world I can tell you that even though Xiaomi, Realme and Poco do offer cheaper devices, there are also many samsung loyalist here who still buy A54 anyway because not only one UI is one of the best Android skin, but the 5 years update and clean ads experience itself really worth the little extra price.
All those vendors like Xiaomi Poco etc. their weakness is the camera and for me honestly, I don't need to play with my phone anymore. Daily use is more important and taking photos definitely comes down to pixel is better. Unfortunately, the price is what makes me wonder if it's worth it.
One UI is smoother and more refined than Google's skin... Also side panels, adjustable flashlight, goodlock, and superior multi window implementation... Sammy has better software, and this is coming from someone who detested them during the Touchwiz days.
I just switched to the P7 from the S9+. The S23 is a better overall phone excluding the camera...possibly. Googles hardware is just a small step behind. But for the $300 price drop the P7 was perfect for me. Its like 85% of what the S23 is. Compared to the A54 it not even a consideration to me. P7 for me again.
Pixel 7 user here, has by far the worst fingerprint scanner I've ever used. Phone almost always locks up after 3 failed attempts to the point where I just started using an unlock-code instead.
You didn't mention the fact that while the a54 does have a plastic frame on the sides, it's back is actually made of glass, just like the s23 plus, except the s23 plus has a matte finish, while the a54 has a glossy finish
I owned the Pixel 7 pro for a week and really didn't like it at all. I've used Samsung for many, many years, and for some reason, I just couldn't get along with the Pixel and so I returned it. Question for the A54 - can you revert to using the back button, recent apps and home button instead of having to use the swipe feature? I despised it when I had the Pixel and refuse to upgrade to a phone that forces you to use it. Thanks!
The icon jitter 4:50 shows how Samsung still looks like a small team of students trying to make their own software rather than a proper smartphone company
In my country the Pixel 7 isn't officially available. The new ones that get imported have their sim locked, and we have to pay an extra 38% of the phone's price to get our sim working. This makes the Pixel 7 way more expensive than a A54. And nearly 30% of the Pixel features don't even work in our region. That was the only reason I had to go with the A54.
The Samsung has dropped to $330 on Amazon recently. However if the phones are at the same price, it's the pixel every time, the smoother user interface alone is enough.
Im use to having Samsung Galaxy A series phones now I upgraded to my first Samsung Galaxy Fe phone the s24 Fe and I really like it better than the A series phone
I got the Galaxy a54 for 50 bucks. The choice was clear indeed for me lol. I still have an iphone 13pro as well but I got bored of it wanted to try something new with out breaking the bank.
The a54 is one of those phones where if you (i don't know the best words in english) bind yourself to a 12 month mobile subscription you get the phone super cheap. What i do when i buy a new phone is i find one that my subscription carrier has on half price if you get a new 12 month subscription, and i just tell them hey im already with your subscription, but bind me for 12 months, and then i get the phone for half price. You're not losing anything since you are already using that mobile carrier anyways and you get a phone for half the price.
@@anmol3457 If you don't plan to play heavy games, you don't need 8 GB of RAM. 6 GB would be suffice for daily use. On my phone games, once I loaded up an MMORPG the memory usage would shoot up to 6 GB of RAM lol. So the other guy is not being clear with his words.
I had a pixel 5a since it’s launch and it’s straight up crapped out 3 times and the last two were back to back when it came back from the google repair. Even though customer service was great looking up and seeing the suspected problems was overheating causing permanent damage and that the same overheating was an issue for current pixels. And Walmart has the a54 for 360 it seems way more compelling
And imo the a54's pics looked better. So it's for you to decide. I think the a54 is still a scam despite being a samsung fangirl for over 8 years now. It not having wireless charging is a big L when compared to the Pixel7 and Nothing1
The camera was way worse than my iPhones, and the pixel was buggy, worst battery life I’ve ever had as well. I think the battery life of the pixel was the biggest hit for me. People say wait for it to learn your habits but I couldn’t wait for it to not be horrible. Returned it in 3 days
If anyone is thinking of A54 ... Give a try to S21 FE. Performance on A54 is it's bottleneck. And given such a weak processor, it won't hold for long during its 4 years of OS update. After 2nd OS update, you will be looking for a powerfull phone than that.
The biggest thing that turns me off from the Pixel is lack of expandable storage. I don't want to limit myself to stock storage, because files are going to get bigger over time. It just future proofs the phone that little bit more. I mean, a phone with over a 1tb of storage is insanely awesome And the downsides of the A54 are either fixable, or a non-issue for my uses. The micro-lag is barely noticeable, and only comes up when I start app hopping. The camera I rarely use, so the fact it takes decent pictures is good enough for me. And I don't use OneUI, I use Nova Launcher because I like the extra customization.
@Matthew Moniz it's an upgrade from the s10+ I had, so happy with it so far. I definitely would have dropped more $$$ if the top end phones still had an SD.

Screen size on pixel is yucky...a54 is perfect
Good points for the comparison.
*SMALL CORRECTION AT 1:28*: A54 is having Gorilla glass 5 at the back.
I got on launch day the a54 and it's a pretty solid phone. I was a huge pixel guy, but since I moved to Colombia you can't get them here officially unless you're willing to import them, which adds up to the price. As for the Chinese phone I avoid them for security concerns (I work in InfoSec)
Love Colombia
dont need to import coke tho
@@freezxng_moon I guess so, but I heard that is way easier to get that in the US though xD

I live in Canada and got the Pixel 7 while visiting the US in Nov 2022. Been an amazing experience for me.
For that price, the Pixel is the "go to". I'm f****** tired of depth and macro cameras, so useless. The one thing I liked about the a54 is the micro sd slot.
Why are you tired of them lol

The SD expansion is the deciding factor for me. Photos can be edited, and video upscaled and color-graded.

My only gripe with the Pixel 7 is the fingerprint scanner, it is miles ahead from my previous phone, but still, it is not 100% accurate, just like at - 2:15 :D
@@thetacoguyy not anymore, also if you set animation speed, you can get more or less fluid. *Smasnug* has upgraded their UI.
Don’t even think about a54 after OP7. You would feel its lags and slowness in comparison to yours previous phone. The only advantage of a54 is its battery and OneUi, which is subjective. I guess OP11 is really great option, the only disadvantage for me is its curved display.

Here in my corner of Europe the Pixel 7 is 50 percent more expensive than the A54. The Pixel 7a will probably be a fairer fight for the Samsung.
Anyways, Pixel 6a beat the shit out of A54 in almost everything and its cheaper

No memcard slot is instantly a no go for me.
You didn't mention the fact that while the a54 does have a plastic frame on the sides, it's back is actually made of glass, just like the s23 plus, except the s23 plus has a matte finish, while the a54 has a glossy finish
Also any decent user has a case so the sides don't matter that much
I owned the Pixel 7 pro for a week and really didn't like it at all. I've used Samsung for many, many years, and for some reason, I just couldn't get along with the Pixel and so I returned it. I despised it when I had the Pixel and refuse to upgrade to a phone that forces you to use it. Thanks!
Yes, the button feature is the default
You know you can do that on the Pixel right?

You can use that on the pixel as well
The icon jitter 4:50 shows how Samsung still looks like a small team of students trying to make their own software rather than a proper smartphone company
Newer phones so janky software.
The 7? I'd still go for Pixel 6 over the A54. 7 still has no sale in my area. No Chinese phones for me so it's 6, maybe even the 6a.
I got a Pixel 7 for 460, less than what the A54 is on sale for in my country and I'm happy with It.
Interesting...but forking over a bit extra for the Samsung S23+ as my pick (don't need all the feature of the Galaxy Ultra)
How's it performing?
The a54 is one of those phones where if you (i don't know the best words in english) bind yourself to a 12 month mobile subscription you get the phone super cheap. What i do when i buy a new phone is i find one that my subscription carrier has on half price if you get a new 12 month subscription, and i just tell them hey im already with your subscription, but bind me for 12 months, and then i get the phone for half price. You're not losing anything since you are already using that mobile carrier anyways and you get a phone for half the price.
Awsome video! Are you aware that in EU the Galaxy A54 has always 8gb of ram despite the ROM?
That's awesome! I think in Canada you have to pay for 8gb
Cool, except that 8gb of ram on that phone is completely useless
@@lukabosnjak3829 why?
@@anmol3457 If you don't plan to play heavy games, you don't need 8 GB of RAM. 6 GB would be suffice for daily use. I have 8 GB A52, but I don't ever play games and I rarely use more than 5 GB of RAM and I have whatsapp, and Line installed. On my phone games, once I loaded up an MMORPG the memory usage would shoot up to 6 GB of RAM lol. So the other guy is not being clear with his words.
Brazil here. I kid you not, Pixel 7 cost simply 2 TIMES the price of an A54. I am buying the Samsung without a single shadow of doubt.
I have noticed a BIAS comparition here, you mostly shown where the pixel 7 where it has an advantage
And imo the a54's pics looked better. So it's for you to decide.
I think the a54 is still a scam despite being a samsung fangirl for over 8 years now. It not having wireless charging is a big L when compared to the Pixel7 and Nothing1
Also the A5x phones used to be under 300 on sale, not they don't even touch 400
I mean, a phone with over a 1tb of storage is insanely awesome
And the downsides of the A54 are either fixable, or a non-issue for my uses. The micro-lag is barely noticeable, and only comes up when I start app hopping. The camera I rarely use, so the fact it takes decent pictures is good enough for me. And I don't use OneUI, I use Nova Launcher because I like the extra customization.
Could you do a screen dimming/throttling test with like an hour of Star Rail, by iPhone model?
A54 is the win for me because of the ssd. I'd have bought an s23 or any of the top range phones if they still kept the SD.
Ya, theres still an audience for a MicroSD card slot but unfortunately it's only on midrange to budget phones. How you liking the phone so far?
@Matthew Moniz it's an upgrade from the s10+ I had, so happy with it so far.
I definitely would have dropped more $$$ if the top end phones still had an SD.
@@cncntrc how is it an upgrade exactly? I'm genuinely curious.
Recenlty got an a54 does more than i need, runs xbox games pass with a wireless controller hooked upto it without any problems has a nice sized battery and charges up pretty quickly
@@jamescassar5348 120hz and bigger battery life and new android updates.. but prob a downgrade in gaming.
I just got A54 256/8 for 290$ and I live in the Middle East. Pixel 7a here is DOUBLE that price.
I guess this comparison only belongs in North America.
In the UK, this is from Chris,, it’s £449 i’m 54 years old I just want a reliable find we are good reception and I always use the microphone to send texts and I did watch something on TH-cam. That said their texting is really good through the microphone. Just like the Apple iPhone 8 not because a lot of people keep coming back saying Chris, what have you just said so I’m going to order it now and I’ll come back. Thank you from Chris, and I need good reception being in a wheelchair
Pixel is louder but to me the A54 sounds better
