All the acting in this movie is magnificent, even the boy who plays Taka's older son. The screenplay is so well done, and the cinematography is truly remarkable.
Every single actor in this film including the children have been excellent. The story, performances, music just amazing. Hans Zimmer is a God for creating such amazing music. And Tom Cruise, man, u are incredible.

Even in the new year's eve of 2019, I see every scene and those making videos of the movie with the greatest gratitude I can have and a tear in my eye. I just can't help it. Tom Cruise may be merely an actor to many people in the world, but for me, since I saw this film, he is someone who truthfully worked hard on understanding the Japanese and contributed to the world the true picture of our Japanese ancestors in as an authentic way as possible that Hollywood can make it. Also, sending my greatest appreciation to Mr. Ed Zwick and his team. Thank you!

In this movie with many powerful, emotional scenes, I cannot easily say what is my favorite. But one of my favorite scenes is at the end, when the soldier defies Omura and orders that the guns stop firing. Omura insists on shooting even more, but the soldier is sad because he knows what the samurai had done for Japan for over 1000 years. And then he actually bows to show this last moment of respect.
I tell the level of honor and valour in this movie can change a man's whole perspective to life as a whole ...the things this movie did to me ...I AM as we speak right now because of he effect this movie had on me at age 14
That's a good one. One of my favourite scenes is the first night Nathan spends at Takas House and he's screaming and having nightmares throughout the night. Taka observes the demons inside of him and the pain he endures.

It is related to our 'root' of culture and the importance to protect it from any other influence. gioDMP 13 assassins I'd say is a lot better. If you see it you can see why. It's way more accurate. A big example is when they draw their swords. In the last samurai they make the typical metal grinding noise. In 13 assassins it's more accurate. There is no metal grinding noise at all.

Vincent Vin Good to see I'm not the only one who has watched it over and over. I'm sure I've watched it somewhere between 10 and 15. Crazy part about it is, I've watched it in consecutive weeks. Not sure what it is but the movie just pulls me to it.

My all-time favorite movie! It probably helped that I had two years of Japanese in high school and a scholarship for same at USC, in addition to having been born in Japan. Still, it stands all by itself as a great movie!
I do enjoy very much this story because first of all it has been possible to get the best information of the political situation in Nippon at that historic time & as the story is rolling we can feel the struggle for power we can see the determination & the unbeaten spirit of the rebels to go on fighting to the end then the struggle for the unification of the country as a whole for social changes & last what western modern smarty weapons can accomplished on the battle field here tom again as an actor has proved his self & never mind the Oscar is getting it later on in due time he is with out any doubt absolutely superb & do his part so skillfully now I'm glad that the film is made with the local Japanese actors therefore to understand better the difficult things in the Japanese society .well done tom .
