The most beautiful film in the history of cinema, I can't count the number of times I've seen it over the years, maybe more than 50, I know the lines by heart but every time I see it I cry, I think the day I'll be able to watch it without crying will be the moment it has exhausted its emotional charge on me, for now I feel the need to watch it every now and then. A true masterpiece, perfect in everything and the music is wonderful, Hans Zimmer whom I consider a genius had to be inspired.
This movie was Tom Cruise very BEST. The actors, scenery, music and story were absolutely Amazing. I cannot begin to say enough. My very favorite movie.
A few good men, the firm, born on the fourth of July, American made, knight and day all the tom cruise movies super duper movies all extraordinary movies and also all movie scenes... I really want to appreciate and thankful for giving movies like this... And I want mission impossible continue until 10 above... Love u Tom cruise
This movie is my all time fav! It's a work of art, I'm visiting Japan right now and I hiked up a mountain to Engyo-ji temple last week which is the temple in the movie, it was incredible!!!
I love this film. Jst watched it recently... again! Had no idea some of the movie was filmed in my hometown NZ. Beautiful place. Beautiful movie and great cast.
It's like looking at an old painting, splendid. Hats off to the people involved in doing the research and the details are perfect. Great job to the people involved.
I love it so much That’s us great movie special with Japanese actors katsumoto. Oishy. Taka. It’s awesome But feel sad with end movie Last battle samurai are lose all heroes 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️💙💚
I stopped counting how many times I have seen this movie I enjoyed every time one of the best movies Tom have made or participated in. If not the best it’s a masterpiece. We don’t get movies like that anymore sadly and ken and the other Japanese actors was phenomenal perfect cast also the photographer everything is perfectly made I only miss a scene. where the Japanese actor. Explains the importance of the sword that got it a gift from the emperor 600 years ago gift to his family. That scene sadly wasn’t in the movie. Otherwise everything is perfect.
Aj Sky I love his Mission Impossible franchise BUT i have to agree with you. I dont want him to stop makin the MI movies, i want him to make another Last Samurai!
I fully understand why they had to shoot Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit in New Zealand, because Middle Earth actually doesn´t exist. But to build a Japanese Village outside of Japan?
Too expensive to shoot a movie like this for weeks in Japan and Japanese people don't like to be inconvenience, so permits would have been a nightmare to obtain.
Japan is the kingdom of bureaucracy and paperwork. Permits and all sorts for this sort of production in Japan are an absolute nightmare and they're also very careful about what they let happen where. New Zealand is quite rare in that it has a huge array of different aesthetics for such a small country, and can be made to look like something from a fantasy world, or just another part of our world. It's vast, open, and logistically a hell of a lot easier to use for a huge production than Japan. And let's be honest. Would you have known it wasn't filmed in Japan if you didn't look it up, or it wasn't mentioned anywhere at all?
Very nice movie but many 'cultural' mistakes as well as in the costumes. The spin of the Yumi in the archery practice scene, the Kote in the armor, women and men didn't eat together...
I have watched this movie over 15 times and everytime, its fresh and enjoyable to me. Just so many details!
X3
Everything about this film was amazing! From the casting to the story!

This movie is his best movie of his career acting in Hollywood. But what a shame the Academy Awards didn't give him the honour yet.

lilly: "very temporary my work". yes but here, its immortal.
Japan DOES still have this so called "pristine quality".. weather it is in a traditional sense or modern..

Building the Village they way they did follows the principles of Japanese life: Work with Nature, not against Nature.
Bravo NIPPON .....!!!💖👋 ....
عمل جيد
Tom. if you are watching. Stop making them damn Mission Impossible movies. You've milked them enough! Start doing these kinda movies for heavens sake.
KaptKan1 Valkyrie is the movie you're thinking of, but I agree that's always a treat to go back and rewatch.

Just a guess but perhaps it is very difficult to find a location like this in modern Japan.
They needed to have a mountain that resembled Mt Fuji in the backdrop and Mt Taranaki looks similar thats why they chose to predominantly shoot in NZ.
Too expensive to shoot a movie like this for weeks in Japan and Japanese people don't like to be inconvenience, so permits would have been a nightmare to obtain.
They could have found actual sets like this in rural Japan -- and they would have been even more authentic!

Unlike China, Japan actually values their culture and heritage. Epic fucking movie.
