I truely Hope you dont shut this channel down, you are honestly one of only a few beginner channels that really does it right and coaches new people toward doing the hobby properly.
Glad to hear you want to keep making videos! I found your channel a couple months ago. I used to watch CS Brews, but I started getting off vibes from them which made it REALLY hard for me to keep watching. Something no longer feels right with them like they either don't enjoy making videos anymore or they have some issues in their relationship. Idk. Anyways, I'm glad I found you! When I watch your videos, I know that you enjoyed making them. People can get good recipes and advice from many sources, but it's surprisingly difficult to find genuinely entertaining videos on fermentation (at least for me). I'll keep watching your videos for as long as I can tell you enjoy them too. 😊
My Suggestions for you aside from this channel would be Man Made Mead, Doin the Most, and Faewood Mead, if you have not checked them out already. CS Brews never really Sit right with me as an expierenced brewer(been making wine, mead and beer for around 30 years) the fact that they completely ignore tons of ACTUAL avaible Science about yeast nutrition doesnt set well and honestly is a recipe for sub standard brews.
@@vance7354 Thanks for the channel suggestions! Also, that's awesome you've been at it for thirty years! I only have about four years invested so far but I've been loving it. Hopefully I stick with it as long as you have. I bet you've made some truly amazing things.
Thank you so much! I too have slowly but surely moved away from CS Brews. There are several more substantive issues I have, but one is exactly what you’ve pointed to: the vibe has changed. In a way that’s hard to articulate, it just “feels” more negative these days.
@@letswineaboutit My Biggest Issue with CS brews personally is they totally Ignore the well established Science of brewing. There are tons of actual sceintific studies on yeast nutrition and what yeast need for best preformance and they act like nutrient additions are optional.
@@SanguineHosen Made some great stuff, made some middle of the road stuff and made some truly HORRIBLE stuff for sure. Made one beer that took 5 years in the keg to be good. Smoked malt is dangerous when you use too much lol. My best advice, Science is your friend when it comes to brewing, Read up on the scientific article on yeast nutrition, and ALWAYS use yeast nutrients. I even use yeast nutrients when brewing beer even tho you can get away without them, better safe than stalled. As far as nutrient choices, If money isnt a huge issue I suggest Fermaid O and Fermaid K, Along with Go Ferm for rehydration. If money is tight like it is for most of us, Fermax yeast nutrient is a good cheaper option and is similar to fermaid K. Another tip, Kveik Yeast strains are Bullet proof as long as you give them Plenty of nutrients, Double or even triple the nutrients you think you need when using Kveik, but you will be rewarded with a yeast that does not care what temp you ferment it at. I have used Voss Kveik at 45F in the fridge and it was done in 11 days to dry. I have used it in a Sous Vide set at 110F and it was Dry in 36 hours. Kevik are an AMAZING yeast strain. But they are an Ale yeast, however most will go up to around 12 to 16% ABV so you can totally use them for wine and mead too.
i like the later on reviews of how things aged and how things have changed. i think that might be the singlemost important part that never gets talked about or rarely does. doesnt make riviting content, but its sorta easy content (if you can hold off from drinking one of your few bottles you get). I think the other attractive side of the channel ( i dont subscribe to those other so they might be doing it too) is that 1 gallon batches allows you the ability to do as wild of stuff as you want and not have as big of a commitment to it. no one wants 5 gallons of an experiment that sucks.
Philosophy of religion? So, now you'll be like Cosmic Skeptic but with brewing, lol!! That's like the ideal combo for me. Seriously dude, wow! Oxford?! Congratulations!! Sincerely, that is mad impressive and I wish you all the best! I've only discovered this channel recently, but not only will I continue to follow you here...I'll definitely subscribe to your other channel as well. For sure! Btw...I have masters in Philosophy of Science, but have become really interested in Philosophy of Religion over the last couple of years or so. I follow Joe Schmidt of Majesty of Reason - he just graduated from Purdue in your subject. He's skeptical agnostic with awesome content, incredible commentary of arguments from both theistic and naturalistic perspectives and incredible connections to leading scholars in the field, whether it's Graham Oppy on one side, or Ed Feser and Josh Rasmussen on the other. Check it out if you don't already know about it.
On the other channel, it’ll be like CosmicSkeptic but from a broadly Christian perspective (I say “broadly” because I’m gay, so my understanding of Christianity is different than, say, a William Lane Craig’s brand of it). But honestly, I’m open minded and undecided on many philosophical questions, so it’ll be far more exploratory than expository, if that makes sense. I’ve watched a bit of Joe Schmidt. He’s an inspiration for having published and still being so young; hopefully I can follow suit. Regardless, I appreciate your kind words!
