I grew Echinacea paradoxa from seed. It flowered in the second year, but the flowers were huge with vivid yellow petals and tall sturdy stalks. Pollinators loved it.
Great selection of seeds. Wishing you lots of success this year! 🌱 I grew Echinacea pallida from seed last year and put it by my mailbox. Definitely punishingly dry, hot and sunny. There were only leaves last year. Hoping for flowers this year! 🤞🙏
Glad to see native plant content! I winter sowed a lot of my seeds in milk jugs and water bottles if I wanted to ensure something grew. The rest I just tossed around areas that I recently filled or cleared. Native plant seeds are usually pretty easy to germinate unless it's something very small that also needs light (i.e. Cardinal Flower) or requires a double stratification. Good luck and I'm excited to see more!
I really want to try growing Jacob's Ladder again. I failed the first time. Love the seed haul video! Isn't it so much fun when your seeds arrive in the mail? Pure bliss.
I have success germinating echinacea pallida and then rabbits never fail to eat the seedlings. Gonna try again this year. Thanks for the video. I had kind of written off most shade plants as too hard or take too long from seed, but I think I'll give Jacob's Ladder a try; it looks so pretty in those big clumps.
I had to chuckle when i saw the opening of the Prairie Moon envelope. That has been me for about the past 5 years as well-lol. in fact, i just ordered a bunch for Fall planting about a month ago. I also cannot recommend swamp milkweed enough to others looking for some great pollinator favorites. I think everything loves them.
It’s funny you posted this the same day I started fridge cold stratification of my natives seeds from prairie moon. I don’t have room for a lot of jugs for winter sowing so the plan is to stratify them there and then plant indoors under grow lights. We’ll see. Hoping for success! It’s always fun either way. Also, I planted echinacea purpurea last year under grow lights with no cold stratification and they sprouted fine. Maybe either way is possible?
@@lisalikesplants $5 isn't much, but maybe it will buy another package of native plant seeds! LOL Just know that I find your content really interesting, and I just love your presentation style...very engaging and enjoyable.
Hi Lisa, I love your videos, I learn so much from them. I have a few questions. Can you do a video on rain gardens, I can't wrap my head on how they work when it doesn't rain. Do you do landscape design? Do you have a landscape design software suggestion for beginners? Would love to know your plant background. Go Natives from St. Louis.
Have you ever ordered plants from Prairie moon and if you have were you satisfied with how the payment went and how the plants turned out? I pre-ordered a tray of 50 for Monarda Didyma cause I cannot find them in any native nurseries and they are native in my county but considered rare.
I have also had a good experience ordering their plants. I like that they let you do mix and match trays of plugs. That way you can try a number of different plants and see how they do in your garden. Once I know a plant will thrive I either grow it from seed if it's not too difficult or buy single plant plug trays (Izel is also a good source for these). If a plant is tricky from seed I sometimes buy some plugs for insurance in case the seeds don't work.
Looking forward to seeing your sowing methods!
More seed hauls. Longer content. You are a fresh voice. Us chicago-near folk are loving it!
I’m so happy I found your channel! I’m much more interested in native plants since they always do better in my garden. Waiting for the next video!
Thank you so much! 🌱🌱🌱
Loved this, I have a bunch of native seeds to start this winter, can't wait to see yours!
Thanks! I'm excited to get them started too! 🌱🌱🌱

I've lost so many seedlings to rabbits! 🌱🌱🌱

Totally agree! 🌱
Love Prairie Moon! I hit several grasses and some more cardinal flower. Also love my New Jersey tea which is finally getting kind of big in year 4
Nice! Yeah it takes a while for New Jersey Tea to get going, but it's so worth it!

I’ve been successful with both methods! 🌱🌱🌱
I ordered purple/blue flowers exclusively 😂 I have a type 😅
They are hard to resist! 🌱🌱🌱
You'll get bored in a couple of years, then go one of two ways: adding white, or adding orange.😂
So many seeds!
It's a lot! 🌱🌱🌱
Thanks! Love your content!
Thank you so much! Really appreciate it! 🌱🌱🌱

I love rain gardens so much. Would love to make a video about them. 🌱🌱🌱

I ordered plants from them a couple years ago and they arrived healthy and on time. 🌱

Thanks for the information, very excited to try some of these. 🐛🦋🐝🪰
