Went up Mount Keen once on the longest day to see the sunrise, when the clag lifted at dawn there was lots of people who had the same idea,so much for solitude !!! Ian Dundee, cheers Charlie
Hi Ian, Mount Keen certainly wouldn't be the first choice for a quiet Munro with it being so accessible and relatively straight forward but still worth the effort for the sunrise. Cheers, Charlie.
I climbed Mount Keen on 1st or 2nd January 1992. The Trig Point in the video was covered in horizontal icicles. A strong wind was making the sub zero temperature much colder. It was the only time that I have kept my face turned away from the wind because it hurt a bit if you didn't. Great views and a good area for walking in. 👍
Hello, The wind chill in the winter can be pretty severe and when it's blowing the snow about then it's certainly challenging. A great experience as to the type of conditions that are possible through the winter months. Cheers, Charlie.
Hello, Yes, we were fortunate to hit the weather window and get the top clear while the rest of the country was covered in clag. Many thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
Hello, A good bit of exercise before the poor weather moved in.... it's great when things turn out better than expected. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
Hello, Alabama Fwee, I agree it’s been a poor winter for the hills and seems to be worst than previous. Fingers crossed we get something on the tops soon. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Andrew, It’s generally a top that catches the wind possible due to it being isolated but I agree some super views of the Cairngorms with the bonus of seeing the North Sea for a change. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Heather, This was the only area in Scotland that looked clear and it turned out a lot better than expected which was great. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Dave, It was great to get things clear as against the clag across the majority of the country and Glen Esk is an enjoyable area for a visit. Cheers, Charlie.
Hi Dave, Your right, the weather is all over the place and it’s looking like winter might be a poor season this year. On the plus, we’ll get into the bigger days a bit earlier than normal and have more outings north of the great glen. We’ll see…. Cheers, Charlie.
Hello, Mount Keen and Glen Esk is a super area for walks at all levels. It’s a softer landscape from the rugged west and quite a good contrast for a change. Cheers, Charlie.
Excellent Charlie Mount Keen is a great walk it was my 3rd Munro in The Cairngorms and i have loved them ever since made the loooong drive up from Glasgow worthwhile :) Have you and Mike bagged it from Glen Tanar?
Hi Peter, Mount Keen is certainly a long way from the west. Going west/east across Scotland is just a lot more awkward. We’ve looked at Glen Tanar in the passed but dismissed due to the extra travel and walking miles. Going via Glen Esk is a lot easier for us. Cheers, Charlie.
Another good video as always.👍
Hi Goprocaz, Not a bad outing on a poor weather day. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Charlie.

Afternoon Charlie...Looking forward to this one but its a long way away! great views as always! Paul.
Hi Paul, Your right, it’s a bit of drive from the west. You’ll be in the car more than walking once you decide to go. Cheers, Charlie
Enjoyable video as usual Charlie 😁👌🏻

A lovely walk in and a great view in all directions at top. We climbed it in Nov 2021 on a cracking day, wind at top turned on all of a sudden.

Great video as usual, thanks. I have never done Mount Keen, and it is my level of exposure, if only my knees could hold up.
