I like JPJ, I've seen several interviews over years and he comes across as a real gentleman. Many years ago, I was driving around and Ramble on came over the radio. As I listened, the bass lines hit me like never before. I'd heard Ramble On zillions of times before, but all of a sudden, it was like I had new ears and I thought, man these nass lines are fantastic! Thereafter, when ever I heard Led Zeppelin song I'd pay special attention to the bass and was confirmed in my new found appreciation of JPJ's bass greatness. Hat's off to John. One more bass great to mention is Paul McCartney!
JPJ was the glue that held three massive egos together. No matter where the rif went, JPJ was always there maintaining the original rhythm and track, like a human lifeboat to bring them back to reality! While showing immense musical skill on many different instruments!
John Paul Jones is nearly missing on Presence, and it shows. Its a lesser album. On the othe hand, In the Light, Black Dog, No Quarter, All My Love, Trampled, Ramble, etc. shows JPJs contribution. A musical genius!
You could tell that there was always a schism between Jones and Page, and somewhat with Plant. Jones was the only true musician, being able to not only play but write and compose complex music. As the years go by, you begin to realize just how important Jones' presence in the band was, widening and influencing their sound as well as writing and production that wouldn't have happened without him. The true difference can be found on In Through the Outdoor, which I call Jones' solo album. With Bonham and Page missing, the music was all Jones with Plant on the lyrics and vocal melody. The result of that album was a more raw sound on Presence, as Page said "We needed to get back to a heavier rock sound," as it goes. Sure, there were difficulties and challenges, but that tension is what created the great sound that is Zep.
Hate this damn narrator, sounds like that serial egoyistic interuptor from Redacted and seems to be everywhere with that cold, sterile, robotic speech pattern,Made it impossible to tolerate this video.
John Paul Jones is the unsung hero of Led Zeppelin. His talent and versatility brought depth to their music, making every song unforgettable!
Good guy. Great musician
Kind of like entwistle from the who.
Listen to the bass on "Ramble On".............simply amazing

I agree
The bass player is usually the most gifted musician in the band albeit ignored and forgotten.
Bass players are always the best human beings in bands too! Lead vocals & guitar make egotistical a-holes.

True. Been there done that.
AND the songs written usually have stupid elements that need to be changed but no one listens to the bass player. 🤣🤌🏼
The conceit of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant during after show interviews , which only included these two, was hard to listen to.
And more. this video link had Laura Ingraham as the implied show host? Ingraham and this "Heartbreaking Truth" are similar.
Yeaahh This is weird , I thought well maybe some wine spilled on my computer and got drunk 😂
what heartbreaking truth...u invent things to get people to read...pitiful
