    Gentlemen......
The Christie Suspension "was Not" reverse engineered by the Russians.....
    it was "Produced Under Licence".
T-34's "did not" carry 4 fuel tanks, when and if they did carry the max.....
    it was 3 (three).
There was "No Intention" by engineers/designers to make the "Mickey Mouse"
turret to "be" the Mickey Mouse turret.
It was "Troops in the Field"
that made the remarks of the resemblance to Mickey Mouse.

IIRC the rifle is SVT-40 semi auto rifle.
Lovely looking kit, actually tempted to go for a soviet tank group over a british 1 now.

On your comment about the German superior engineering compared to the Russians': I've had the pleasure of meeting a few Russian WWII vets. They all mentioned to me the typical 'engineering thought' while designing personal weapons as well as afvs: 'It must be simple and durable enough to be mended by a hammer'!

No John the unit order is: Squad, Platoon, Company, Battalion, Regiment, Brigade (depending on whether or not that Army is structured with it or not), Division, Corps and then Army. Even larger units like Army Groups have been used in WW2 by the Germans and the Soviets called them Fronts.

The little "possible bow gun" thing is is the alternative to the hull mg, its the hull flame thrower. Makes it the OT-34-85

Can we have a "Wax Lyrical" series where John just rambles about historical stuff? Honestly, I love his unboxings because of the level of detail he dives into.

Interestingly T-34 production carried on after may 1945 whereas the USA started winding down production.
If you pro rata the T 34 production to the period during ww2 then you'll notice that M4 production wasn't all that far behind the T 34, and that the Germans had got to the point where they were knocking out T 34s faster than they were being built.
Which of course raises the point that the T 34 is also the most destroyed tank in history.

that piece that they thought was part of a bow gun is actually an ATO-42 Flamethrower

  • @WarThunder-zt4xw

Actually it's (ascending) divisions, corps then Army. After that is Army groups or "Fronts" as the Russians called them.

I can't believe you missed the flame thrower bit. You were calling it a gun it. It is next to the hull mounted mg and is for a hull mounted flame thrower. Yes it is the standard infantry and weapon sprues. Otherwise very nice video as usual keep up the good work.

Just remember that war time production of T34 tanks. Were different quality than the T34 tanks produced after the war. Two of the main problems of the T34 was how much the Russians hardened the armor plates. Under Soviet production. The armor was heated to twice the amount of temperature vs other allied tanks. Making the armor harder, but also more brittle. Meaning that if a anti tank round hit the tank, but didn't penetrate the armor. There was a very good chance that the crew was turned into Swiss cheese. From high speed fragments breaking off from the interior armor. The other main problem was the 4 speed transmission. Most drivers of a T34 tank. Just Were not strong enough to get the tank into the last gear. That is why many drivers carried a hammer. Otherwise the T34 was limited to 3 gears forward. Which limited its top speed. Even on road marches.

I think the big grenade is an AT one. At least, it looks like the AT grenade the Russians get in Men of War

Should it not be Division to Corp to Army, rather than Division to Army to Corp?

Great unboxing! The rifle is indeed the SVT-40 Tokarev :) Have you guys taken a look at the game Red Orchestra 2? The tank warfare in that game is amazingly realistic!

Sorry, but you are wrong. T-3 and T-4 has way more than 15 mm side armour. Actually it was twice more than 15mm. But PTRS (anti-tank rifle), as wikipedia tells, still could penetrate 30 mm armour at 300 meters.

If I understand it correctly, he meant the early war period German tanks, the sider armor of a Panzer III was.... 15mm!

      AVT-40 is a variant of the SVT-40.
The SVT-40 was a semi-automatic rifle whereas the AVT fired fully automatic.

Getting quite tired of all the t-34 praise and claims of being the best of the war. It really wasn't all that inovative and the layout inside tended to be more of a deathtrap inside especially since the crew were so in line

Guys just saying the Soviet infantry did not get one gun and someone else got a pouch of ammo no they had more then enough guns to given to their army. And enemy at the gates was not accurate. Just saying I refer you guy's to brondon f's video the one with the rifle shoot's.

    • @rotsechs4382
      @rotsechs4382 6 ปีที่แล้ว

yeah didnt like that comment too. old video but that didnt happen. same with the "flee and get shot with mg"part of the same movie. prison battalions or whatever they were called got that shitty "motivationboost" but even those poor guys got a rifle and ammo for it. They may have given out less ammo because of short life expectancy but every russian in stalingrad wars armed. If i recall correctly, even the tank factory ppl had their own fighting groups with tanks so they could self defend in case of attack.
