No matter how good Sons of the Forest is, I can already bet you there will be people who think the game is dogshit because they are blinded by nostalgia from the old game. I personally love the game

After watching gameplay and reading some reviews I just decided to not get the game right away. I'll wait for a few months of updates and check again, as I'm sure the game will have improved by then. Also I really hope they'll add VR support again. The Forest in VR was/is awesome.
This game was really good, had good mechanics and great graphics, but it felt super short. i beat this game in 14 hours. Since i booted it up and got up on the snow covered mountain i made my way down and built shelter, i never even spent more than one night in my shelter, as soon as i made it i left to explore, i entered a cave with a spear and left with a shit ton of creepy armor. The game felt really easy even on hard difficulty, the spear felt really busted because it would always stagger the mutants and cannibals. by a few hours i already had the pistol, the shovel, the shotgun and two access cards. i didn't 100% the game by any means but i did explore EVERY cave and point of interest. i really did enjoy this game and it is better than the first. someone said "This game does such a great job at thinking there is so much more than there really is" and i couldn't agree moer. I know this game is still in early access i went into this game completely knowing it was but i still found myself really liking it. i'm a little confused on it still tho but my experience was good

SotF is by far the definitive edition. The OG doesn't hold a candle to SotF. So far the 1.5 hours ive played have been great. The first caves i've been in looks exactly like the caves in BC here should. The coast looks like Vancouver islands rugged coastline. You can see how heavily influenced by their local area the devs are, and they really did a outstanding job this time. Running into the fingers mutant the the blind cave ones in that first cave was scary. The lighting this time is perfect! New crafting system is interesting, will take time to adjust but it is better.
The one problem with this game is that they made the caves way too filled with mutants and way too large without any of the loot. Had to fight over 10 mutants to get the shovel.
Sons of the Forest has great potential, but is empty at the moment. The map is huge with 70% of it lacking content. I literally ran through the entire western part of the island and there was nothing of interest except for the green marker thingy.
You probably get this quite a lot about the way you cut down that tree in the second game so I wanna give advice when cutting down a tree in the second game. when you cut down a tree I recommend moving closer and trying different angles like aim higher or lower.
The only big reason why I prefer to play The Forest now is SotF optimization. I know my PC isnt that good, but I still can play Hitman 3 60fps on ultra, its a cap a game like Sons of the forest have soooo little Fps. I will wait for SotF to come out from early access, then I will enjoy it. Hope they will optimize game well.

The level of demand should not be this excessive.

They do a really cool trick the with bushes and foliage on sons of the forest, its all 2D but they have some sort of simulation so even though its 2d it can bend and twist which gives it more of the illusion of 3d but saving heaps on polygon counts
i just wish they'd went with the original graphics with better textures so i could still run it nicely now neither of my sisters can run the game to play with me

it`s amazing how both games feel as fresh when comparing them. Also there´s a sustantial graphical improvement, but it isn´t that mind blowing. If i didn´t told u sotf2 released in 2023, u would think it´s about only 4-5 years of difference between both games just looking at the graphics. Looking forward to what sotf2 will become
