    I recorded a track with a 303 a while back and had to read the flippin' manual before the session. If only your video had been online!
    Excellent work as ever.

    I wish every how to video was this fun and clear. You are a great teacher. Got myself a Behringer TD-3 and this got me up and going in about 5 minutes. Thanks!

    I have the behringer version of this synth. It's been like trying to program a casio watch. This video is very refreshing.

    My mate had a TB-303 years ago until he sold it when the price rose above £1000, anyway he let me borrow it for a week once and it took ages to work out how to use it properly this was even before TH-cam existed! Even when you know what your doing it can have some random results which can be good or bad, still got a DAT tape somewhere with loads of patterns and bass samples from it.🤗

    Thanks for the very straightforward video. Had one og in for repair and I was not sure how the buttons should work. I changed every switch and tested it out and everything works!

    Ive been meaning to thank you,
    there is a lot less info out there for real deal 303s then I expected. My manual is in Japanese (tho not a problem to dl these days but it’s still kinda confusing in eng 😵‍💫
    so…thanks for being the only resource that got me up and running fast!

    Cool, thanks Dr. Mix. Would it be possible to do a video in which you create drum sounds on a Moog Model D? Thanks for the videos mate. Inspiring stuff.

    Great video but I am still not sure how you programming all the small patterns together to make a sequenced song. So for example, in track mode (in black writing) is this mode used to chain the all the patterns (1 to 8) together to make a song? If so, how would one do this?

    • @skarryprankhunter
      @skarryprankhunter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can either switch from one pattern to another or, on the TD-3 from Behringer, you can chain them.

    Hey. The movie is great. But can you explain the novation bass station ??? is he familiar with you ??? How to program it ??? And how do you get 303 out of it ???

    • @szymonwieczorek2667
      @szymonwieczorek2667 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like it quite a good replica and I bought a bass station rack 20 times less than the original one because I did not stand on 303 ...

    could i build a jazz bass line in AABA form using the 303?

    • @Meteotrance
      @Meteotrance ปีที่แล้ว

      It was build for that in the begining with the tr 606 drum machine it was build to be a bassline generator for any kind of music genre but crazy kids of the 90s like me use to put guitar distortion on it to make gabber and acid trance music 😂

  • @bobrobrules
    @bobrobrules 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you know how this (and other synthesizers, drum machines etc) works just by looking at it or do you read the manual? Or do you just mess around and figure it out for yourself?

    • @Doctormix
      @Doctormix  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do freshen up for these videos :) Maybe reading the manual if I can't remember some functions... but I've programmed the 303 for years and I still remember ;)

    • @Ishkur23
      @Ishkur23 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like most Japanese products in the 80s, the manual was full of broken English and was hard to follow. Most of the 303's secrets were discovered through raw experimentation.

    Kindly explain
    How can I transfer and mix this type pattern into Flstudio

    • @Doctormix
      @Doctormix  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can record it at roughly the same bpm and stretch it into position if it veers off

    da funk bass line please

  • @Ishkur23
    @Ishkur23 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    As I said before: It's almost impossible to make a bad 303 lead. There is just so much raw funk and wirrbly wobbly timey wimey goodness in those accents to mess up.
    It got its start as a bassline accompaniment for guitarists, and when used properly actually does produce decent basslines (early Electro/Hip Hop artists like Newcleus and Mantronix used 303s for non-acid basslines).
