I love this band so much. I’m absolutely opposed to nazism/fascism but just because something doesn’t align with my views doesn’t mean I’m not gonna listen to it if I like it. Still have my old bootleg CD of Boots and Braces/Voice of Britain and I listen to it all the time.

If you're claiming this is goth music, I'm going to have to disagree. As far as ties to anything, back in the seventies and eighties there were a ton of bands that used Satanic imagery not only on album art and merch, but in lyrics. Not because of any actual spiritual intent one way or another, but because it was a good middle finger to the right wing establishment and Christianity- both of which had a stranglehold on both social and political institutions. Now we've seen the pendulum swing the other way, with the left in a dominant position. Any sort of "rock" music has gone against the grain and music like this is just doing what is in its nature. Are they NS and if so, does it matter? Who knows, and no. Music is music. There's always going to be some remedial nutbag who draws too much from music, a book, a movie, etc. All that matters is if the listener enjoys it.

I don't know anything about Edelweiss' politics, but I highly doubt any of their members are legit Nazis. They're only labeled as 'NS' because of the WWII themes. As for why this music reminds me of the goth sub genre, I tend to associate such heavy use of pipe organ with bands like 'Radio Werewolf'. At least that's how I think when they mix rock into it. Pipe organ without the heavier instruments would be classical/part of an orchestral piece. My logic is flawed, I know. But the mood and sound of the band sounds somewhat similar to me.

Everytime I listen to bands like edelweiss or BMSS I wonder what's the point of the Nazi imagery. I don't much mind it the music is great itself but the themes of a lot of songs of them have nothing to do with Nazism or the connection is so obscure that it can be taken in some other way just as well. The music especially BMSS is great and definitely could be successful but its off putting to many, perhaps it could be exactly for that, to stay obscure. There might be financial incentive too since obscure psychedelic music band won't be financially secure, but BMSS seems to always sell out their merch.
i wondered about this too. I think it's just imagery. Similar to death metal bands putting dismembered corpses on their album covers or gangsta rap talking about shooting people, pimping girls, and selling drugs. It certainly evokes a reaction when people see it as society views nazi's as way worse than the other common images in extreme metal scenes.
Wouldn’t be an Edelweiss release without a bizarre outro track.
