Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue Responding Urgently To a Elementary School Fire!

- Today at 1:26:30 PM Est. Palm Beach Gardens Fire Rescue and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue received a call of a reported fire at Timber Trace Elementary School. The fire turned out to be nothing serious and was a small electrical fire on the delta side of the building. On scene photos are on my instagram: www.instagram....

Yes, amazing how people kept going when the undercover type vehicles came to the intersection. It's almost like no one could tell those were emergency vehicles.
Ineffective emergency warning package. Can't blame other drivers if the lighting sucks, which it does on those white tahoes.

The two white tahoes had poor lighting patterns. Rapid flashing plus other poor patterns make them less visible. Should have a rooftop lightbar instead of visor lights. Much more effective and visible to other drives, especially during the day
Those are most likeley Fire Safety Officers or something of the sorts, and either way that's not what I was talking about.

Those white tahoes are a bit of a trouble because during the peak afternoon hours you can barely see their lights from the massive white glare blinding you. I almost hit one coming down Northlake once and he waved to me like "my bad". But they are brand new so maybe they are waiting for a promotional wrap for the holidays like they usually do with some of their slicktop units.

Yea they barely responded, maybe once a call every 3 months or something crazy like that. I have no clue about the wrap, they have had these for a bit now but we’ll see.
Agreed, you can barely see any lighting on the car and clearly the siren doesn’t help that much.
I also don’t get the need for a completely unmarked fire vehicle like that.
I wonder if they are part of a pilot program or something to get data in the field. Sometimes new manufacturers will do that to win a contract

Excellent video, though (and maybe it’s different in FL), but my time in Fire/EMS we always called it “Responding Emergent.” Also, the Q’s on the QRVs are awesome, but I’m not a fan of Fire/EMS vehicles that are not marked. Way less visible, hence why people do not notice the two of them at the traffic lights.
Yea we call it responding emergent or non-emergent. And yea the qs are awesome!
The white, slick tops need brighter front warning lights. Difficult to see hence why no one noticed them

This video is a great example on why PBGFR requires the marked units to all have q2b sirens on their vehicles. You can see battalion chief and ems 61 get through the busy intersection with no problem.
City should consider investing in opticon systems to control intersection lights
Chiefs 64 and 65 too cooll for school with the undercover look (unfortunately it slowed them down)

Looks like a great response. Occurs to me that no vehicle had good lateral (ie sideways facing) intersection clearing lights on the front. These would need to be really big: headlight size, even just white to grab the cross traffic attention. Needs some field trials to work out the best solution, though.

1 thing i hate is how low their sirens are from a distance. Seems like a common thing in palm beach. People wont hear them until they are on the drivers rear end
Approximate bumper height is pretty common to mount a Q or other siren. Generally the bulk of the sound wave projects straight forward so high mounted sirens go over the top of most vehicles and also impact the noise level inside the responding vehicle cabin. Air horns on the other hand are best used at a distance from intersections since they are louder and will have a wider sound dispersion. (like trains)
In my city our battalion chief drives a white explorer and its one of the rarest fire trucks to record in my city , you see American battalion chiefs respond to all fires but here they dont

The white Tahoes belong to the chiefs in the department, whether they are the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, or Assistant Chief.
@@EvanDowell1213 Okay, that makes sense. Thanks! CHFR has unmarked Tahoes as well belonging to the chiefs. The FC’S buggy is silver with a civilian trim while the other chiefs have white with the PPV looks.
The cars in this video are Chief 64, and Chief 65. I don’t know which chiefs are assigned to these two units.

Does Palm Beach Gardens have both Ladder 61 and Platform 61 or is the Ladder just a spare or something or what?
Truck 61 (bucket) is now truck 64 and is stationed at station 64. The ladder in the video is the previous ladder 61 being used as a spare. Their new ladder is a Seagrave.

The “q” is the silver circle on the front of each of these trucks, it’s a siren known as the Q2b, which is the sirens all these trucks are using besides the white Chief cars.

I think the whole department needs another review of the emergency lighting. For the money they are spending I dont see the return from this video. Lotsa fun stuff but not that effective. My opinion. Thoughts??

I saw things in this video that frankly pissed me off. Nothing to do with the firefighters or the videographer. It has everything to do with the dumbassed self centered drivers who thought they were more important than the yielding right of way to Emergency Vehicles responding hot code 3. Emergency vehicles do not respond this way unless it is a serious situation.
That’s why I don’t like slick tops!! Sitting in a intersection waiting for traffic to see them.
Those two white SUV's are useless. Low visibility and even in the recording the sirens were low, can't imagine someone in a car with windows closed and A/C running will hear it. Poor design. Now, those Chief's vehicles with the Q...Awesome.

Nice units, But until they put some damn blue lighting into those vehicles, especially those slick top units and at least the staff units start with them first, they are going to continue to either get somewhat ignored due to visibility or the public is mostly aware of red, amber and blue lighting “PERIOD “ it is even scientifically proven that those 3 colors especially RED and BLUE lighting is more visible and especially to the naked eye, which is why the majority of public safety agencies are switching to those colors especially fire and police vehicles more so than ems units, even though many of them also use Red and blue as well, Seeing that all red and amber with some white, just looks plain and silly, Those days are played out, even many police vehicles that had all blue have added some red into the mix especially to the back or Michigan state police have the one large red light on top but have added blue lighting to the back of their units just like the FDNY and the NYPD have also done as well.. just my beautiful opinion..🙌🏼👍👏🏼🚨🚒🚓🚒
