I remember watching MASK back in grade school. I was so into the toys that I was looking for them in stores as late as '90 or '91. Just couldn't accept the magic was over. Thank God for Amazon. :)
I for one hope we will see MASK on the big screen one day. There are enough good actors in hollywood that good play the roles of the mask team and venom. I loved this show when I was a kid and still love it now. Too bad season 2 ended after only 10 episodes.
So you’re one of the very few people who *liked* the racing series? Did you like Miles Mayhem’s new ‘Buzzard’ outfit, and (used more for defence, rather than attacking, as it created defence barriers) Flexor mask? Additionally, did you like his (which he never wore in animation) ‘VENOM’s Revenge’ outfit, and (as implied by the name, shredded metal) Ripper mask? Imagine if Miles Mayhem was to clone himself, so that his first outfit, that he wore in season 1 (his ‘Switchblade’ outfit, and Viper mask, which shot acid), could co-exist with his above two outfits - imagine what that would be like for MASK! (having *three* Miles Mayhems!) Imagine what the likes of Alex Sector (owner of Boulder Hill, and Rhino systems commander, with Jackrabbit mask, which enables flight) would be like! You could call it a ‘Triangle of Terror’!
+AquamentusZero Probably because it's weird to go from 65 episodes where MASK is fighting a terrorist organization, only to have the last ten be all about some episode-long race of which VENOM is merely a part. It's just weird, even if the vehicles (Goliath in particular) were pretty inspired.
CinemaBiohazard Yeah, you're right. Goliath was pretty cool. Bulldog was also nice. And some interesting charcters, too. Even though some felt a little randomly thrown in...
from a fans point of view i wish they had one more none race episode as the final episode a chance for the none racers to have a final adventure i missed bruce and hondo in the race shows.
This is actually the first episode of the 2nd season, not the last, especially since the ending implies that M.A.S.K. will race anywhere against V.E.N.O.M. I take it that you used the U.K. DVD release as a reference, which sadly doesn't help as the last 10 episodes were all in the wrong order.
I, personally, actually don't dislike this series too much (as I can now see Miles Mayhem's Buzzard outfit in a more positive light - after his Switchblade outfit making him look like a General, I can see his Buzzard outfit as making him look like a Colonel). People slagging off this season is what took away what we *could have* had thereafter - a third season - where we'd have gotten seeing Miles Mayhem's NEW new outfit - his 'VENOM's Revenge' gear (which I'd have perceived as making him now look like a Sergeant). It's possible that these 'MASK Adventure Pack' outfits were to have appeared in animation, at some point, but poor ratings of the second season (as well as the toy line) caused 1988 to be the last year of the show.
@@colingram8785 I’m a different user from shermanvermin76 but they did say how they try to see this series, rather than keep regretting it was made (by saying how they see Miles Mayhem’s outfit he wore for this season, and, even though he never wore it in the cartoon, his VENOM’s Revenge adventure pack gear).
My proposed cast for MASK movie Matt Trakker : Gerard Butler (senior enough but not a dinosaur) Hondo Maclean : Chadwick Boseman Dusty Hayes : Chris Pratt / Scott Eastwood Bruce Sato : John Cho Alex Sector : Sean Connery / Nick Offerman Buddie Hawks : Jack O’Connell / Charlie Hunnam Gloria Baker : Emma Roberts / Lea Seydoux Brad Turner : James Franco / Zac Efron Scott Trakker : Ty Simpkins / Levi Miller T-Bob : Bring back the original voice actor! Miles Mayhem : Tom Selleck (I think his current look would make a great Mayhem) Vanessa Warfield : Gal Gadot / Dakota Johnson Sly Rax : Robert Pattinson / Tom Hiddleston Cliff Dagger : Nobody cares, just any big size bald tough guy
All i want is a CIB Manta, a CIB Switchblade and maybe a CIB Buzzard.... Then I'm in heaven! Thunderhawk, Condor, Rhino, Gator, Tbob I could have loose... Well any figure or vehicle loose...... But in reality all I want is Manta... My favourite of the whole show was Vanessa
I think a good idea to bring in the mask movie would be to have Matt tracker used transformer reverse technology on how to build weapon area vehicles that transform from bid from cars to planes to boats etc.
I don´t recall watching S2 as a kid and I am happy I didn´t. It completely lacks the magic and adventure of S1. Doesn´t feel like MASK anymore really and I miss many of the old characters from S1. But overall MASK was great, nothing like this is made nowadays.
one thing about KIDS cartoons, the good guys NEVER Kill the bad guys, and the bad guys NEVER KILL the good guys,, its more like kids pranking each other.. if only criminals are like that in real life..lol.. They rather block your car with rocks then blast your car.. lol
It's exceptionally hard to find. You are better off with a fan version. I think there's a Region 4 full set of all75 episodes... S2 has different owners and rights. Its a mess
Wasn't to crazy about the racing theme MASK episodes. You came to watch the show one day and all of the sudden everything changed. Matt did have a cooler looking vehicle though. His vehicle was harder to find to buy. I remember I had Myles Indy car, buddy's tow truck, Brad's stock car, the Indians (dot not feather) motor cycle, I remember when I was a kid and I saw Vanessa warfields car...I went holy crap they have it. I had every vehicle from the older series though. They were pretty fun to collect. Even had T-Bot and Scott.
The Indian character (who was a *proper* ‘Indian’, and whose last appearance was ‘Race Against Time’) is Ali Bombay (his motorcycle’s name was ‘Bullet’, and his mask was ‘Vortex’ - it created windstorms). He’s one of my very few favourites, in this (‘Indian’ means from India - country in Asia, whose capital is ‘New Delhi’). The character Nevada Rushmore is a Native American (people wrongly call his race ‘Indians’ owing to centuries ago, when Christopher Columbus was in the States, and thought he was in India). People of Nevada Rushmore’s race have nothing to do with India - they’re not Asian. They’re North American. It would be like if you were in Scotland, and thinking you were in Ireland. Another of my very few favourites, in this, is Sly Rax (though I, unsurprisingly, only like his outfit he wore in season 1 - his ‘Piranha’ gear, where his mask was ‘Stiletto’, which shot darts; his trousers are blue, not purple, and, under his mask, he has a small goatee, as well as a moustache). Does anyone think he looks like John Lennon?
This felt much more like a spinoff than a second season, lots of characters and vehicles missing, and a focus on action and racing instead of mistery and intelligent problem solving. I wish it ended with Miles actually leaving open the idea of being good. Besides, they're far more competent on the honest portion of what they did - engineering and treasure hunting - than trying to get a buck through terrorism lol.
In retrospect, it speaks to me somewhat like the series finale of Star Trek the next generation, with a wide opening for a made for television motion picture. Trakker could pursue the Mayhem brothers on a truly deep caper which combines the best parts of Season 1 with the racing aspects of this season, culminating in the M.A.S.K team imprisoning Miles and co. in a maximum-security prison block - after Maximus leaks evidence of his whereabouts to Matt. (Since this was the mid80s, could have taken place somewhere like South Africa, in which Miles might have exploited apartheid in some underhanded fashion. )
M.A.S.K., as a child I thought better of it, but this is a perfect example of a cartoon created just to sell toys, differently to what happend with Transformers characterize by a better concept. I just think that if they would have done more transformable stations that at the end one could assemble in a giant fortress... They lack of inventiveness, what a lost.
