    I've had 2 var awayukis that did the same thing when I first got it. Lost a lot of leaves, rotting etc. I thought that if I keep them dry, they have a higher chance of surviving. Your video rescued them from sure death! ❤️❤️ From 🇵🇭

    Another very helpful video for me to be fearless. I'm always afraid I'm going to over water my succulents. I tell myself Bahala Na, and give them a good drink. I purchase many succulents from Korea with no roots, it always takes me forever to get them to root. I feel I'm doing something wrong, or they just don't like me! 😂 Wow 700.00 dollars for 1 rosette.😮 The most I paid for a succulent was 20.00 dollars. Because I'm still a newbie, maybe when I get better and become a succulent Whisperer like you, Liz, I will spend more on the beautiful ones I've seen. Blessings to you & Pedro from Mexico.

      I've slowed down a lot now with my purchases, Helen. I find setting a limit because the prices do come down a fair bit. Most plants are only expensive when they're new on the market. I've learned to wait for 6 months (novelty period) and the price drops drastically.

    Thanks dear Liz for another great video. Beautiful plants in beautiful pots ❤
    We have temps between 41-42 Celsius and my plants are struggling . The sempervivums have been attacked by mealies and also burnt in the strong sun 😢😢
    Just waiting for this heat wave to pass

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sempervivum will do better in the shade and kept watered. They become attractive to meallies when they're dry. With your temperature, this is the reason I keep most of my succulents dry during summer. They can handle the heatwave better if they're dry. Alternatively, a 50%UV shade cloth will do wonders.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watering is easy Moira. After leaving it dry for a couple of days or a week or two. I usually soak the whole pot and drain. Of course it all depends on your soil mix. The less organic matter, the less chance of rotting.

    I have loads of leaf cuttings from last year but many badly etiolated. I don’t know if I should cut everything’s head off and repot in a few days. What do you think? They’ve been in a south facing bedroom the whole winter. Only the malice kitten, moon stones, ghost plant (G Paraguayensis) money plants and hawarthias look ok.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Once they etiolate, it can really be a challenge trying to grow them compact again. Cuttings is the only option and hopefully you get lots of babies too.

    It’s 105F in the shade. How often should I water my succulents? Do I keep cuttings in the shade or keep them inside?

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I usually don't water them when it's that hot. I wait till temperature goes down to below 86°F and I keep my cuttings on bright but no direct sun area. 50% UV shade cloth is a better option.

    Please will you explain how leaves can rot when the plant is dry and wanting water [at 2mins 43]. I have the same symptom on my indoor Perle von Nurberg that's due to be watered after a month. Thanks.

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The best trick I've learned from growing succulents is to water them when they need watering (soft leaves & dry soil LIGHT POT), and not when we think they need watering. Rule of thumb is to water heavily(soak) but less often. The video below might help to answer your question. Cheers

    • @GrowingSucculentswithLizK
      @GrowingSucculentswithLizK  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Been doing this for a long time and they don't seem to mind. Only rot I had was if they have open wound and haven't been dried first before dunking on the seaweed solution. Using plain water is another story.
