Lots of good stuff packed into this video. The tip about wetting a little piece of paper towel and putting it in the palette before heading out "into the field" is great. Knowing little stuff like that makes a big difference! Thank you!
Informative. This is my first brush with Gouache too. Pun intended. LOL just got a couple black and white and burnt umber in today. I've got something up my sleeve that I think only gouache can do. If I get back here a post the end product. I most like the ability to detain fine lines and yet erase as needed. Thank for the Video.
Thank you, this was very informative. I tried it today before this video, and I like what resulted. It does feel gluey which made me a bit nervous it was going to damage my brush. Next to experiment with it the right way...
I am just starting my gouache journey. I bought Holbein and M Graham Tit. White. I will add Magenta to my palette later, but I decided not to even fuss with Reeves, to have the full experience. Full setup for Amazon 43.00. Very inexpensive medium! I keep it in an 18 Mijello palette. Off to paint. Thanks for this video.
No. Watercolor is transparent for the most part. Gouache is generally opaque. It's because the pigment particles are larger in Gouache while Watercolor particles are much, much smaller.@@christopherblalockfineart3557

M Graham binding pigment with pure honey and gum arabic
How much longer does gouache take to dry compared to water color?
I find it dries slightly quicker than watercolour on the page.
So what advantage is there over Acrylic? Thank you!
Acrylic is not really a paper medium. It can feel plasticky. It dries hard and can't be reanimated.
So it's a gouche vs. watercolor thing? Thank you!
