Airfix should use these videos(and compensate you) to advertise these Starter Kits. Great job as always!

I was really glad to see you mention the mold release (oily residue) and how to deal with it. I was watching a similar video on the VW Beetle and the presenter didn’t know to do that and ended up getting terrible paint coverage the first few coats as the oil prevented paint adhesion. I didn’t want to say so and make him look bad, but I’m happy to reinforce your excellent suggestion! Very nice build...cool that you demonstrated the dark wash and highlights, too.

Thanks for that John. There have been plenty of people saying that the washing is a waste of time, but good to hear of an instance where it would have helped! It might be older moulds that need it, might just be a random thing if they don't spray release agent into the moulds every time, but I have noticed that it helps the acrylics find a key to the surface a bit more easily. Thanks for the very kind feedback - happy modelling!

Lovely job Gary :) Nice to see a non-military model. Nothing wrong with those of course, but the variety is nice. Probably for you too :)

As an aside, on another channel World of Wayne, he's done a 1:16 part work of the same car. That's fun to watch too :)

Lovely job Gary, you made a fantastic job on that very old kit, I myself think that the e type jaguar was a very beautiful car. Well done I hope your channel keeps growing, all the best

It is a decent kit if you allow it some problems simply due to age. However, Airfix has teased something that looks very much like a hard-top E-Type for 2022 - look out for details on 10th Jan after 4pm!!!

👍. I was thinking, of all the places you can visit, of all the best wine you can taste, of all the best views., the thought of having an ignition key to an e type .. just to drive for a mile would do 👍

Hi Gary - great work on this. It's a really helpful guide for beginners. This kit was one of my first ever builds and I wish I'd had someone advising me about Humbrol acrylics!
Have you tried the Revell E type? That's a lovely kit.
    Cheers, Thomas

Thanks Thomas! Not tried the Revell E-Type yet, I'll have to look into it. Cheers, Gary

I recomend that instead of a white table top , you use a darker color , it would be less harsh to the veiwer

The wear & tear of the moulds and resulting flash and even warping of some parts is why I always look for the oldest edition of a kit, when the moulds were "fresh". Without paying a fortune for these "vintage" kits of course.
Unfortunately for the decals it's the opposite story, you should find the newest ones. Old decals have yellowed or get brittle making these unusable.

    • @garys_stuff

Good point about the moulds. I wonder if the type of plastic has changed a lot as well. The 'modern' plastic has a different feel to it. Using modern plastic in older moulds may be part of the issue. I've got a few Vintage Classics on order so I'll check it out.

@@garys_stuff The plastics have changed. More adapted to model building. And so has the glue, more adapted to these specific plastics.

FFS. That is what is called FLASH. Quite disgustingly bad actually.

    • @garys_stuff
      @garys_stuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That's the downside of vintage tooling - it is generally well knackered!
