    Any bad day of fishing on the water down there is by far better than any work day up here! But of course there is no bad day just being on the water. Nice couple of flounders Jay!!

    I'll be coming down there for a week end of this month. I'm staying in Delaware off of 54 not too far from the border and I'll be spending most of my time on the boat in Maryland waters. How does that work with fishing licenses? Do I need just Delaware since that's where I'll be docked? Everyone 16 and older needs one? And some navigation/fishing/crabbing tips would be greatly appreciated. I own a 23 foot tritoon. Sorry for being so needy.

      Loaded question, but I'll do my best! Everyone 16+ needs to have a license and registered as a saltwater angler (free). You can buy a license online compass.dnr.maryland.gov/ You can buy a boat decal so everyone onboard can fish, but it won't come in on time for your vacation. I would recommend to just buy a license online. It's the "Bay and Coast License". If you fish in DE, you would need a license there too. The waters in the bay can be pretty shallow, I would really suggest looking at nav charts. Once you get into the bay, you should be fine. For fishing, check out a few of my other videos for fishing spots. All my videos I give tips and show what I use so you can get the same things. Crabs this time of year tend to move towards deeper water. Good luck, hope this helps!

    Great that they have minimum size to keep flounder but when I order flounder in every restaurants always get served very thin & short piece of flounder that might be 6" shorter then the 18" law. Gill netter's get away with murder. Some of my fishing buddies stopped spending $70 or more to go out on a 8 hour party boat to catch maybe one legal size flounder.

      Commercial fishing is different. Even an 18" flounder has small filets. The best flounder fishing is in the ocean on wrecks...they pull up some big flounder!!

    Will try the Deadly Double next time, Can you tell the different with other High/Low rigs. Very enjoy your video !

    • @ReelJayB
      @ReelJayB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main difference I've seen is the line attached to the hooks are a lot longer than a standard high/low rig. You can see in the video how far they hang down. I've tried my high/low rigs but don't have nearly the success rate as I do with the deadly doubles.

    I plan on fishing the assateague bridge in July 2023 2nd week I was wondering if you can give me any tips or pointers to fishing that bridge and South into the Newport Bay chincoteague Bay area primarily looking for flounder and blue fish. In the month of July where are big blue fish. Thanks

    • @ReelJayB
      @ReelJayB  ปีที่แล้ว

      Deadly Tackle flounder rigs are by far the best for flounder. If you are by boat, just drift the bridge and bounce it slowly off the bottom. If by land, cast as far as you can and a slow/mod retrieve should work. Bluefish....anything like gotcha plugs, swim baits....anything with action will bring them in. For bigger blues, try around Stinky Beach in OC and cast straight out towards the sand bar.

    Glad you were able to get a keeper. I haven't done much flounder fishing last couple years, but it seems like the last two seasons have not been banner years for them. What ramp did you use to launch your boat?

    • @ReelJayB
      @ReelJayB  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Flounder this year has been decent, but yeah....the last few years haven't been too great at all. I used the Ocean Pines boat ramp.

    What size bucktails hold bottom here? What oz does your rod handle up to?

    • @ReelJayB
      @ReelJayB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bucktails I use anything from 1/2oz to 2oz. 2oz is more closer to the 50 bridge where the current rips faster. I have a bunch of rods to handle the weights. Hope that helps!

      @@ReelJayBthanks man! I usually fish the jetties and beaches in Delaware. I do pretty well with a Nomad Design 7'6" rated for 1/4 - 1oz, paired with a Daiwa BG 3000. I'll bring it anyway, but will probably pick up a new combo. We're doing a bay tournament, and I haven't fished on a boat for decades. I appreciate the help!

      @@adamaguado272 I have a daiwa bg 8000 on my offshore rod, absolutely LOVE it! Good luck in the tournament, hit the south jetty with the boat. Let me know if you catch anything!

    Great video man! What time of year do the flounder usually show up in the bays there?

    • @ReelJayB
      @ReelJayB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First flounder is usually caught mid March. The thorofare is where they tend to hang out early season. Good luck!

    • @ReelJayB

      Nope, not at the 90 bridge. There is at the 50 bridge.

    Is that a public ramp aera if so where is it

    • @ReelJayB
      @ReelJayB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's Ocean Pines property, but there's a county ramp across the river in Bishopville. There's also the 64th st boat ramp in Ocean City.

    • @ReelJayB

      Dogfish and a bunch of different species of sandbar sharks. Check out some of my older videos where I catch some dogfish. They should be here in force within a month or 2.
