Kia Sportage OWNERS: Brighten the road with upgraded headlights

Watch as I replace the halogen bulbs with HIDs in this Kia Sportage S. The halogen bulbs light up the road just fine, but they don't have a nice appearance with the warm color temperature. Installing HIDs will increase the light output of the vehicle as well give it more of a modern appearance.
I use basic tools and zip ties to complete this job.

The white cloth is to absorb humidity inside the headlights so water doesn't condensate inside
That's a moister absorber
I installed CAN BUS Ballast HID's for the head and fogs for my wife's 2019 Sportage LX, no error messages from the dashboard. My 2012 Sonata are all HID's too....
That white material is used to keep moisture to a minimum in the headlight assembly

I realized after I made the video that it would have been nice to include a night performance shot. 🤦♂️ I got a little ahead of myself.
What I can say is, the difference is a big improvement. Note how the halogen bulbs light up the road as you see it now, then imagine that light, but brighter so more of the road is lit up and the color temperature is more white (less amber). It is a real big improvement.

Whwn you turn high beams on does intensify the light or turn it back to a halogen color. Had an older car that the hids did that
This car, the projectors are bi-beams, meaning they function like bi-xenon. There is no separate high beam bulb. The projector has a flap that drops out of the way of the light when you flick the high beams on and the HID intensifies as the high beam. It’s amazing.
brother its been more than a year, what are your current views on the hid? has the heat caused any minor/major damage to the projector due to heat? secondly due you think its wise to get 55watt setup.
lastly whats the longest time you have kept the beam on during night drives.
I really like the HIDs. They really brighten up the view of the road as you drive, the beam pattern is fairly crisp so it won't be blinding oncoming traffic either. The sweet thing about this setup is the projector is a bi-beam meaning it has low AND high beam so it functions just like what you would find in cars outfitted with bi-xenon headlights. First I have seen with factory halogen bulbs. The HIDs just make sense in this housing and I don't know why they didn't do this from the factory. As far as length of time running at night, they have been ran at night no more than a couple hours, probably no more than 4 hours in one night. No issues with heat, no issues with burn in where the inside of the housing gets ghosty, it's all good so far. Also I haven't seen any issue with moisture build up from removing the white moisture absorber in the lens cap. I would be weary about using 55 watt HIDs, that might be pushing the envelope just a little bit. I'm not sure the factory wiring can handle that but I may be wrong. Perhaps urge on the side of cation with that.

Hi, I have the same suv with the same headlights. Here’s the question I mount HID & afrer 5 mounts I noticed that the projectors are starting to get weak. I have tool for measuring the light & the light is lower with the HID & with the original bulbs. The question is did the HID have more heat & burn my projectors?
I don't want to definitively say yes, but it sounds like your projectors may have suffered from the HIDs. Did you try swapping the halogens back in and see how they look? The headlights in this Sportage are still fine so it's possible there's something else wrong with your set up, or the HID kit you purchased is a higher wattage and the bulbs caused something to suffer. Another idea is maybe there is moisture within the headlight housing?
@@iambigsteveo I try swapping with the original halogen HB3 & the result is worse before I mounted the HID. The HID that I mounted is 35 wats canbus
