dumb idea to move the young guys. let them develop. the free agents signings are short term deals.
We don’t need young guys, we need win now guys. It doesn’t get any easier with boeser and houghs coming up for big paydays. Also JT miller isn’t getting any younger. The best shot they have is the next 2 years or they’ll be stuck being playoff losers until Peterson and houghs get old.
@@JohnRedCorn79terrible take
@@jaymewillett1675 so we should not get supporting talent for our team which has a 2-3 year win now window we should develop some B string players because they’ll replace Miller when he’s old gotcha.
@@JohnRedCorn79 because we should give these young guys time to develop into the supporting cast, hoglander scored 25 goals without even being on a powerplay.
@@jaymewillett1675 what time, miller is old and houghs and boeser are in for big pay days. The best chance is within this 2 years window you trade young talent for a shot at the cup everytime. But maybe your right let’s not go all in and at least we will lose to Edmonton every year and look at these young guys scoring 25 and go we made the right choice.
Trading pods or hogs is insane talk! Clean out Abbotsford if we need to move players!
I'd say Alvain would be a fool to trade Hoglander at this time. He's a young winger coming off a breakout season, with plenty of upside yet he's still a 20 goal guy already, with the potential to peak at a 30 or even 40 goal scorer. He's good enough now to be either a legit top 6 forward and contribute well, or a high scoring bottom 6 forward. Yet he's likely to get better before he peaks and starts the decline. He's able to help the team win now, but also be the next generation of stars to step into a top line role when guys like Miller and Boesser are starting to age out of those roles and drop down to bottom 6 veteran stabilizer roles. You don't trade that away on a whim. The time to trade a guy like Hoglander away is when either he's not on course to become our next Brock Boesser, or we don't have anywhere in the lineup for him to evolve into that, but have a hole we need to fill elsewhere. Our defensive roster, while not as strong as our forward roster, is still very strong, so while it's the weakest part of the team, I'd not call it a hole. Maybe a trade to bring in someone who could replace Myres or allow us to drop him down to the 3rd pairing would be helpful, as long as we're not trading away our present and future talent to get that.
Long term, we've got guys like Juullsson, Friedman, and Desharnais, any of whom, over the next 1-4 seasons could evolve into a 2nd line blueliner, with yet more like EP-D who could evolve into our depth and 3rd liners in that time frame. We've got a team with generations of talent from veterans like Myres and Miller to players just starting to begin the first signs of their peak like Hoglander and Joshua, our bona-fide superstars like Hughes, Miller, Boesser and EP40, and Thatch. and we've got talented rookies with all kinds of potential like Lekarimaki, Karlsson, Baines and Podkolzin. That means the team has that good blend of past, present and future to build a dynasty around. Vancouver's never had that potential. Usually we either have too much future and not enough present to be a contender now, but may be someday, or we have too much past and not enough present to be a contender now, and can only reminisce over the brighter days behond us, or we have a stacked lineup of present day talent, but nobody to replace them.
Thanks to the building of Alvain and Rutherford, we've got all 3 now, and the chance to have a dominent team for the next few years, and when our top stars of today start to decline, we've got the next generations waiting in the wings to step up and keep it going for maybe a decade of dominance, like what the Red Wings had going on in the late 90s and 2000s. They had guys like Yzerman and Federov, and when they were starting to decline, then it was guys like Lidstrom to take over, then when he was starting to fall, it was Datsyuk there to take over. It was only when Datsyuk's generation started to age out and nobody was left in the system to step up that the Wings had to go into a rebuild.
I wouldn't give up on Podkolzin just yet... he has size and a great work ethic - bigger guys just take longer to develop. I have said this many times in the past, but I think Garland and Hoglander are similar enough of a player that one of them should probably be moved if it can help the team (in this case, shore up the defence). I also feel that Joshua deserves a shot in a top-six role - I think he and DeBrusk together with Petey can work some magic and Petey can have some room thanks to DeBrusk and Joshua banging around. If Garland is traded, Hoglander moves up to play with Miller and Boeser, and give Podz a chance to skate with Blueger and Heinen/Sprong. Suter, Sherwood and then you can have Aman/Bains/PDG
You guys are forgetting we have Jett Woo, Cole Mcward, Christian Wolanin. Not to mention prospects like Tom Willander and Aidan Celebrini.
Jett Woo
I don't see him making the NHL
Especially if he doesn't improve next season
@@sirfrancis1756 except most of those guys are defensemen lol and by most I mean the only good prospects
@@conservativeamber1216 I haven’t watched him, but his Abby stats look pretty good and I know he’s strong and plays physical.
@@jaymewillett1675 that’s the point.
I’m wondering if garland could be on his way out so they could bring in a top 4 d. As much as I would want to keep him and have that great third line, it would clear up 4.95m and allow the team to get a very good top 4 d which could overall make the team better than keeping garland. I also think garland is pretty much the only player that makes sense for the team to trade based on his cap and the other moves they’re after doing by resigning and signing all their other players (basically saying you don’t usually trade players that you just signed and resigned before the season starts)
Garland last couple season's was on trade talks .. Yet look at the workhorse he really is ..
maybe that’s their tactic hehe
Theres no way they trade hogs. Podz is probably gone which is unfortunate since they never gave him a chance
Yes they did.. they did right away and he was brutal defensively so they sent him back down and he's never made his way back up in the lineup. Not to say he can't this year
He can’t score
@@sirfrancis1756he's only 23
It took Kesler 4 Years to hit 30 points
@@sirfrancis1756I'd give Pods 1 more year..A proper chance
Also right now we won't get much back for him..Maybe a 3rd Pick
It took Kesler 4 Years to reach 30+ Points
But the difference was this...Kesler improved each year and Podkolzin hasn't after his first year..
@@bsolo505I'd give him 1 more Year
Maybe trading podkolzin at the deadline would make sense, but moving hoglander would not.
trade couple of forwards for second pair defenseman from St Louis? Peraiko?
It's hard to see guys like Podz and Hoggy Boi on the sidelines for this roster. But at the same time, we are in win-now mode. The only way to get out of this is to put them in a position to succeed, that can also mean trade them to a team where they can mature. Not saying we're not a mature team, but we just don't have room and I feel sorry for them. Around this time in their careers, both of them should be in a position where they start to be regular NHLers. The thing is, they're not regular NHLers right now. As much as I want to keep them with the Canucks, I can only see them get traded elsewhere to bolster their careers. This is where the Canucks should trade them for help in defense.
Anyone can disagree with me all they want but let's face the truth. Can you see them STILL wear the Canucks sweater in a few years from now with the way their careers have gone at this point?
“Daniel Sprong… He does not have that dog in him” 😂😂
if they trade Hogs they're gonna regret it
I wouldn't trade Neither of them just yet
Especially not Podkolzin..The dudes going to be a beast
Still need a Top 4 D Man
So that means one of our TOP 6 will be traded
I dont see us getting Any Top 4 D Man for under a $4 Mill Cap Hit..
If Pods doesnt win a spot hes going to be moved. He needs to clear waivers to be sent down and theyre not going to give him up for nothing.
Hogs has value and is a decent player. Podz has underperformed relative to players drafted in his range- he's actually rather mediocre compared to most others. I'd miss Hogs. I hope they trade out Podz. I wanted them to draft Boldy so badly that draft. Drafting Podz was a mistake.
Trading podz I could understand if it brought in a top 4 Dman, trading hogs after his best year is insanse to me
Podkolzin reminds me of Bo. He's a keeper. Let the season start and see how things turn out. Then pull the trigger on some trades. For now stay put.
Makes sense podkolzon and Hoglande 3 million off the Books Benning core Needs righthand shot Defense for them Benning core players lefted retooled
What the hell are you talking about
Trade the pipsqueak, Podkolzin is bigger and still has untapped potential, the kid scored 14 goals not too long ago, and Miller raved about him.
@@patrickday1816 you are dumb, hoglander got 25 in this season and actually was able to put up numbers, pods is a bottom 6 player that hasn’t even gotten 20 career goals in the nhl lol
Sucks but Podz is probably healthy scratch to start the year
Podkolzin, McWard, Poolman, 2027 1st rd, 2025 4th
to Calgary for
Rasmus Anderson
to make the cap work (need $1.05M), they would have to send Derek Forbort to down to AHL, Juulsen's 775K isn't enough
Hughes/Anderson
Soucy/Hronek
Desharnais/Myers
I know Des is RHD and maybe they would send him down over Forbort either way 1 would have to go down to Get Rasmus in.
That is the dumbest thing I have seen in along time. First of all. We don't need to give up another 1st round pick. And Rasmus isn't worth what you are giving away
@@soullessrenegades1444 Id do that deal in a hearbeat
Barron for podkolzin
Give Demidov a Russian buddy to help him when he comes over
Trade Podz, keep Hogz. Trading hogz would be a huge mistake the Nucks would later regret
This team is a wagon lol ever heard don’t count your chickens before they hatch or end up with Pierre Dorian syndrome lol
In the oilers shadow Canucks r bad
almost as delusional as leaf fans.
@@Yxds Canucks pushed the oilers the 7 games and honestly could’ve won if we weren’t stretched to a third string goaltender and no Brock Boeser
Canucks retooled almost finished Hoglander podkolzon Garland Boeser Demko amen De Guisssepi juulsen Hughes lefted can't afford Boeser Demko or Hughes? BENNING core
They need to trade Pius Suter and Teddy Blueger away then your good to go. They both have at least 5M to both of their contracts and they only have 1 year left. I believe Suter is 3M and Blueger is 2M for one year. Trade them.
you know bleuger resigned.. for 2 years at under market value right? what's wrong with you?
That makes zero sense thats 2 of our centers LOL that would create a new problem of us needing centers
Neither of those guys are going to be traded and shouldn’t be traded, suter cap is 1.6m not 3m and blueger cap is 1.8m not 2m
They aren’t leaving
I hope not those are two of my favorite players and they both have a lot of Potential
@@hockeygod-ry4rf yeah I know hoglander should stay for a long time and also I hope podkolzin does better and hopefully could become a top six player
Might be more of a move you make in season tbh
