I've seen this like 500 times and just now I realised what's wrong with it. Every other time I've seen Hal Jordan make a plane construct, he's inside it piloting it, so I just assumed he was inside this one too. No, he just made this one and threw it, and Hal Jordan't was too stupid to just move out of the way. Now, if this was in the comics, I'd argue it could be a pretty cool scene. Hal Jordan't, once a proud pilot, now taken down by a plane because he was too focused on destroying it. A good writer could do something with the idea, or use it as a cool visual metaphor. But because it's this game it's just random nonsense probably

For instance, he used it as shield that extended tendrils to knock out two armed gunmen, a power set that served two purposes at the same time. Plus, the before mentioned shoot lasers, flies and summon protective shields were still pretty cool on their own. It's the kind of stuff that Iron Man could do. The problem is when they make him do something big and awkward with his powers that could've been done on a smaller scale and less over the top. For example, in Injustice 2, he creates a giant rig to run over some robots instead of doing something more practical.

I always assumed that ring constructs didn't get the power of the objects they were recreating, it was just more effective to use that energy if it was given shape. Kind of like it's more efficient to have a sword instead of a rod of metal, while technically a sword is also just a rod of metal. But the power of a construct cannot exceed the raw power of the energy it's made of. So it's kind of like making a robot in a shape of Superman: it will look like Superman, but will not gain Superman's strength and durability, because Superman gets it from his specific biology, which is impossible to recreate as a construct. Or if a Lantern would create a construct in the shape on Zatara, he would not be able to cast magic because it is either a very specific skill or a gift. Something like a minigun works because it's easier to imagine a minigun bullet being shot and therefore gaining necessary speed and destructive force rather than imagining a separate piece of metal that suddenly pops out into existence and accelerates to supersonic speed. So yes, you could create the wackiest of stuff, but it would be like creating cardboard cutouts of that stuff, just out of a very durable piece of cardboard.

Fifth all Lanterns make what they are most comfortable with. Hal is a pilot which doesn't require huge amounts of imagination. Kyle is an artist. That's why the constructs turn out as they do.

John makes rifles because he was a sniper and buildings and construction equipment because he is an architect, Simon makes cars because he is a mechanic, Guy makes boxing gloves and practically nothing else because he is just a bruiser

Practicality comes first. What else could stop a plane coming your way? Hal Jordan is also a literal soldier. He operates in terms most familiar to him.

Because that is precisely how a soldier would deal with an enemy aircraft: by using anti-air defences.
@@anton.chigrinetc.96 Is that really efficient? Even if you're a soldier, it wouldn't be practical to keep firing at an airplane that takes zero damage from your blasts. Can't he at least dodge, or find a way to split the plane with his powers? Green Hal isn't even in the plane, so Yellow Hal is wasting time by firing at it.
