Sitting on phones, texting, scrolling on insta, chatting away, nowhere near any kind of intensity, let alone failure

This is why they make literally zero gains in the gym. Broccoli cut and phone permanently in their hands. Pathetic! They can use their phone all they want, but when they spend 90% of the time sitting on a machine on their phone rather than training, this becomes MY problem!

Phones+social media=most dangerous weapons ever created. Smartphones make you dumb, social media makes you anti social, earpods fry your brain with EMF. But they need their dopamine.

with alot of people i think its how they handle social anxiety of not knowing what to do in between sets, but definitely makes the environment less social and closed off. When i was 18 i heard some old head complaining about how everyone uses headphones in the gym now and how its so much different but at 27 now i def think the gym would be better if everyone had headphones off/ no phones for real.

I train at home, i only touch my phone to set up my music before i start then i only touch it to update my training diary which is an app on my phone. This is done after my set during my rest period

My music is set up before i walk in and no need to touch or look at my phone again. But all gyms play vile rap music so i need my own headphones to block that tripe out!

He’s spot on I’ve been training since 1976 and todays young lads walk in the Gym with their hands glued to a phone, do a set with no intensity and then back messing with the bloody thing, just leave it in locker or at home for an hour, the whole population is now controlled by them, sad times I’m afraid.

What if I'm logging and tracking my progress in an app in the phone? Not using it for anything else in the gym. I pick it up after a set, log my weight and reps, and put it down right after.

Besr advice i ever heard from Dorian was high intensity workouts, fitting in 5-6 exercises with 4 sets each within a 45minute workout. That way you only need to workout 3-4 days a week, and its only achievable with short rests and no phone!

The real problem is the phones are too heavy. Really really heavy (sarcasm!). Because in between sets these phone-users have the phone down in their laps and their heads collapsed down on their chests. So it must be that these phones are too heavy, heavier than the 60kg bench they've just been doing, because they can't even hold the phone up 😁

Besides it logs everything and you can go back through years of workouts. It literally takes me 10 seconds of my time after my workinh set to put in what i lift. The app i use also has a 1RM calculator so it makes it handier to see progression 😊
