Fun fact: Kenichi stated in an interview that L never knew the feeling of kindness until Soichiro put a blanket on him at the time when all of the task force members slept in the suite and L was on the couch. Then L tried experimenting and started to be more generous to people so that's why he gave that sweet stick to Soichiro to try to be more kind to people. That's why he gave a stick to Maki too.
