Mikey is the GREATEST! Just ask him. Insulting others and verbally bullying peers to make himself look better is his 'best' personality trait. His career and musical ability to write lyrics and arrange songs has really blossomed in the decades after he went his own way. I can't think of anything he has done that rated recognition from anyone.

Songwriting wise he was basically the lyricist because Brian wasn't good with lyrics and Love was sold on the surf, cars, and girls image more than Brian ever was. It was Brian who always wanted to expand and break the formula experiment and trying new things. Vocally, Love couldn't hold a candle to Carl Wilson. If this guy wasn't a cousin of the Wilsons he wouldn't have been fronting any bands. He wants to see this and he wants to see that? I'll tell you what I'd like to see. I'd like to see Mike Love write a decent song for once in his life and sing in something other than that thin nasal whine that he calls a voice.
In Mike's defense.....he was fasting and doing a whole body cleanse as part of a "yoga/meditation" type exercise that started 4 or 5 days before the RRHF induction. He had not eaten anything solid in almost a week. I heard this from Brian Wilson.

"Strangely" however, the other four members, (even though three of them sacked their own father), never kicked Mike out of the band or started a new band without him (which would have been easy with two guitarists, a bass player and a drummer, three of whom could sing and one of whom wrote great songs). The Beatles kicked out Pete Best; the Stones kicked out Brian Jones. The Beach Boys kept Mike Love. Obviously, the other four thought he added value to, and was an integral member of, the band.
