- I hope everybody safely assumed what said "prized collection" was.
The version of the myth I based this out of was translated by Joyce Tyldesley in The penguin book of myths and legends of Ancient Egypt
I am really sorry about the one pesky pixel in the video, I did everything I could to get rid of it but nothing worked ): My computer seems to not be strong enough anymore to render without these "corruptive" frames, but I am activelly trying to resolve it!

4:45 Weirdly enough, in the older version of this story told from the Middle Kingdom, the "card game" that happened between Horus and Set was consensual. As weird as this story gets, it's still not as weird as Norse mythology lol.
I have seen that version, but I decided to rather go with this one haha

For those who don't know: Isis had the ability to keep herself alive for some time without her head. She's saved by Thoth who returns her head just in time (Or a cow's head in some versions)
Oh I watched that it looks like Anne bolyen with her head chopped off like it said isis is beaheded

From the sound of the story, I think that the Contendings of Horus and Set might be an ancient work of satire, kinda like Aristophanes' The Frogs.
It's possible! From what I read it could be Political satire reflecting a real life conflict at the time, but it can also be a full religious story which may seem silly to us, but was important to people back then.
But I also read that when theatre arrived to egypt later, they LOVED satire :D

Egyptians to this day have a reputation for having a great sense of humor. Doubtless, this stretches back to ancient Egypt. They're the same people, after all, who had a creation myth that involved Atum causing the big bang, through what we will call unconventional methods.
Mind you, they also decided that their idea of a disaster movie was to have a giant lioness terrorize everyone, only to be defeated by beer disguised as blood. I often joke that the Egyptian Arabic use of the term "lioness" is doubtless a holdover from that time (I don't know if it actually is, and personally doubt it).

Thank youu (: They actually are not really sure with what animal Seth is! He is most probably a mix. I think there was like an aardvark, antelope and such guesses? So I took a chance to make his face really long because i found it funny :'D

3:04 I get that you tried making the story as entertaining & simple as possible but that eliminated the actual profundity of the plot , Set is the impersonation of human's extreme ambitions even though it could spiral out of control meaning this part was the epitome of his character being fulfilled ; one he cared for someone else (in that case , his new found love) he would've brought the whole world for her ... Ofc, as long as it doesn't collide with his own persona and laser - sharp vision.
I only put in my videos what i got from my source - which is a translation in the description below (: I don't add anything else to the god's characters, but i am not also leaving anything out (as mentioned in this specific story and translation)
As Egyptian mythology doesn't really have a "canon" Seth can be a god and impersonation of many things written in many different sources. (:
