I don’t really think the length is that much of an issue considering they’re just adapting a game from back when data storage was smaller. There’s a reason why the crash remakes were bundled together. Plus nemesis was originally going to be a side title while code Veronica was gonna be 3. Not that I have a problem with that, they had their reasons. Speaking of code Veronica, we may want to ask for a remake of that one next before we lose our shot.
Veronica is probably the best of the classic RE games imo (the ones before 4) unless you count 1 remaster but its a remaster after all. Hopefully they get to it eventually, it wouldn't exactly lose them money.

Don't mind the lenght. I did speed runs of the og's back in the day. I'm sad to hear about the cut content tho, since the lab section in re2 remake made kinda of mad... cause they pretty much turned into a streamlined area with little to no complexity on it's level design.
I agree. I was sad the lab was a very quick straight run and not multi leveled vertically like the original with spiders and moths. I also heard in 3 the gravedigger worm boss is cut too. Smh.
@@TimNewmanGaming That's one of the biggest travesties of this REmake! The Gravedigger was an iconic sub boss fight, like the Alligator from RE2. The list of removed stuff is very disappointing.
@Mitch Remake was definitely a perfect game. I don't like tank controls but I still did good with it. The mansion setting was a remake done right. I would love Code Veronica to get a remake. The original was cheesey but I liked the story and the prison island was good setting. Plus the Ashford kids relationship is so creepy. I think with a good remake it would get more love.
@Kris It's annoying to those who sucked at beating it, just like newbs that complained about Mr. X in REmake 2. Dora the explorer, My Little Pony, and the Care Bears should be the proper difficulty level for these inept gamers.

These are the only game reviews I listen to. I can't begin to tell you how much of an honor it was to hear THAT voice talk about MY entry in the 2007 Outnerd the Nerd Contest. When he said my review was funny, despite not winning, it made for an amazing feeling.
I encourage everyone to start their first run on hardcore difficulty so the game doesn’t auto save for you and it forces you to take your time and think about your next move while you gradually make your way to the next typewriter and in turn will prolong the first playthrough . It’s the best way to play .
Yeah this is what convinced me to hold back. I got great replay value out of RE2 so no doubts I'd get the same here. But presently it seems too reckless to spend full price on almost any game, so the guilt might ruin the fun of the game for me!
depends on which type of gamer your are, but 6hrs for Huber in a resident evil is 10 hrs for the average gamer. Huber is a beast when it comes to completing games at breakneck speed.
That’s my only gripe about all of the reviews too. However, RE was never a long game. Also, it works out if you’re also Interested in FF7 and Person5R.
As much as I'm hyped to play RE3, the length of the story is a big oof for me. No way am I spending full price for a game that only lasts about 6 hours. I know there's Resistance but I'm not interested in the multiplayer portion of RE3. Only the single player side. I'll just wait for a sale and buy Persona 5 Royal instead tomorrow.
You must be a millennial who never played or was a fan of the original resident evil games back on ps1 in the 90s . They’ve always been short games but high replay value .
Excellent review Huber! Although I'm certain my first playthrough of RE3 will be longer than 5-6 hours going off of how much longer my first playthrough of RE2 was compared to you 😅
Lol, the dynamic between RE3 Remake and RE2 Remake compared to original RE2 and RE3 seem exactly the same! Original RE3 was a slightly more action oriented game compared to RE2 without sacrificing much of the horror and the RE3 game duration was also shorter. I wish they added even more stuff, but it looks like at least it's a faithful remake. And from the review it doesn't sound like there's a Mercenaries mode or extra game modes after you beat the game, which is kinda disappointing. I'm curious about where they go from here. Do they attempt to remake another RE? Or is RE8 next? Whatever it is, I hope they do away with the first-person perspective. It just doesn't feel like RE to me...
All RE games are relatively short, the only game that had a lot of game in it was RE4. RE4 is my favorite game of the series and I played it last week. I was kinda shocked at how long it was, excluding Separate Ways, Assignment Ada and Mercenaries. But the thing is, RE4 is still very much replayable because of the guns, special costumes and speedruns. I think most RE games are very much replayable. Even RE2 Remake had great replayablity because of the Leon/Claire A and B campaigns which totals to about 21-25 hours of gameplay. This one doesn't have that. It's so short compared to RE2 from last year. Project Resistance is not enough to extend everybody's time with the game as that mode is not for everyone. I think most people won't pay for this game full price. This game will have a sale for it sooner than RE2 had because of it for sure.
this thing is 4 fucking hours man, then people can defend this to say all games are short. They cut a lot of content and in many ways this is a step back from RE2. Yet this review gives it high marks (8.5)
It feels like Capcom pissed away the opportunity to tighten up and expand on the RE lore like RE1 Remake did in these last 2 remakes. They could have paved the way to future installments or just start fresh with these remakes being the new canon because after 6, the lore was destroyed and 7 was barely an RE game and added almost nothing.
i'm aware it isnt a long game, RE2 remake wasnt that long either scenario B wasnt that different from A. regardless i'll still buy it at full price because i replay my RE games alot, backwards compatibility will be avaliable on the PS5 so atleast i'm only buying it once. additional DLCs would be nice to add in the future.
I was a bit disappoint the B scenario was so poorly implemented. The original had you do a different puzzle but in the remake both have to do the chess plug puzzle for some reason. It was kind of slapped on it feels.
Robert Cassidy re2 is filled with puzzles that take you awhile to solve, re3 lacks these puzzles and has an emphasis on combat so the game prolly won’t take a long time to beat for all of us
Nice review, the surrounding negativity around the game based purely on its length was making me kinda sad...but its good to see that its worth the ride, as I anticipated it would be. It was always gonna be just a little under 2 though, RE3 original certainly was, its more of an action blockbuster.
The complaints aren't warranted imo. It's roughly the same length ad the original game which sold at full retail at launch back then too. If you don't think it's worth $60, that's okay though - it will be $25 by Christmas.
Finally a good review that yes while im sure the game is going to have issues that not everyone will care for,no game is perfect and i never expected this game to be.But atleast this isnt just 15 to 20 mins of pure hating on it like the game punched their mother or some shit like the other "reviewers".Its like they have never played a RE game or any classic game from the 90s which this is a remake of.They are sad and pathetic but you sir are clearly a fan and knowledgable and fair and not an idiot expecting some kind of 30 hour action rpg metal gear solid kind of story out of an RE game overpaid crap gamer reviewer like the others, and so for that i give u a huge thank u sir.
I bought re3 last night. I heard enough and I’m taking it back to get my money back bc I did not open it. No puzzles let alone hard puzzles and the game is short. Looks like I’m keeping crash bandicoot over re3
@@EasyAllies Well, now you've just went ahead and embarrassed me. Do me a solid. Delete your comment, I'll edit mine and nobody shall ever know of my shame :P
I suspect we are going to get free DLC just like we have with 7 and 2 Remake. If indeed that is the case, it'll be great additions to this single player campaign and the multiplayer in this package. That said, I am so backlogged that waiting a spot for the price to drop is going to be my approach.
I’ve watched Huber play enough games on stream to know he rushes through them. His length is probably a couple hours less than average. It took me a few hours longer to beat RE2 compared to Huber. He thinks it’s a crime to let go of the sprint button.
All the original RE games were 3-5 hours casually. Only the non-horror ones are “long” (meaning 8-15 hours) with the exception of CV, which is made long by endless backtracking, and RE7, which I think is 7-10 hours on a casual first playthrough.
I dont understand why people complain about the length of resident evil games. like they have never been 30 hour long epics. and most can be beat under 2 hours...
These people act like they can only play a game one time. If you do only have time to play it once, there's nothing stopping you from waiting for a sale. RE6 took like 20 hours to do all the campaigns and it was easily one of the worst in the series because of how drawn out it was, among other issues.
Thanks Huber! I'm really looking forward to this, I played the original RE3 just a year ago for the first time and after that I completed ALL the RE games...
I reckon it’s about as long as RE 7. You could finish that game in 5-6 hours if you focus on the main objective, didn’t do any backtracking and you don’t get stuck on any puzzles.
If you only play it once then yea it's a bit steep. But this game, like RE2, was meant to be played multiple times with different unlockables and rankings.
Except that RE3 has no multiple walkthroughs (original and 2nd run) and no challenge modes that it's hard to justify the high price on a really short game.
But RE2 Remake had Claire and Leon's A and B campaigns. That's like 22-25 hours of gameplay. Still feels like they rushed RE3 because of the short campaign. I heard there were stuff cut from the original game which is a shame.
@@geeerwin Theres virtually no difference between leon and claire's campaign aside from the secondary characters and a few weapons, I dont even want to talk about the second scenario, the only difference being that mr.x appears pretty much at the beginning of the game and slightly remixed puzzles
@@METROIDROCKSXP98 The changes to the A and B scenarios in RE2make are the major reason why I still prefer the original RE2 to RE2make. At least in the original there was more connectivity between the 2 campaigns, both Claire and Leon communicated with eachother more than 3 times throughout the whole game, and each run has its own unique moments so it made playing each of them different.
They cut way too much stuff out of the game. Removed costumes, removed entire sections of the game, and (the worst offense in my opinion) they removed Mercenaries. The game just does not offer enough content unless you are interested in 100% completion. Compare that to RE2 Remake which gave you 4th Survivor, Tofu, Claire/Leon’s campaign (depending on who you did first), as well as the A/B scenarios (even though those were half lacking)This game gives you...more difficulties...that’s it. compare it to 2002 REmake which offered costumes, Invisible Enemy, the realistic Item Box, One Dangerous Zombie, etc...An 18 year old game offers more variety than a $60 game in 2020 and that is stupid
I'm sure it will be a good game, but imo it came out a bit too quickly after RE2R and since they are very similar it feels like i already experienced it to soem degree. In some ways it feels more like something that could have been an addon to RE2R, which is weird considering is has been in development way before RE2R even came out yet it lacks content and detail in comparison.
It is sad they giving less gore blood dropping while decapitate limbs and heads. They removed many content that original game that have. Example, Spider, Brain Digger, Crows and the most memorable Clock Tower fight scene where Jill encounter Nemesis. They also changed the RPD department where Nemesis break through the windows while chasing Jill. Marvin was caught by Jill while lying unconscious in the West office after gets bitten by Brad. All this scenes were removed due to unknown reason...
@@buttertoast1146 I probably will after seeing the divisive reviews. I don't have unlimited money and can't see myself paying full price for a 5 hour game without much replay value.
People are forgetting that resistance is bundled in with this game.....there is actually alot of content for the £s, $s or whatever you trade in. Having played the PS4 demo i think this game look beautiful, the neon lighting of the Raccoon streets, rain effects, gore effects give this game a massive atmosphere. Can't wait till Friday when i can get my mits on it. Itchy ...Tasty....Mmmmm
They literally explained that they're gonna review Resistance as a separate game. From what i see this score is only 1/2 of the actual game. I'm betting Resistance will get a 9/10 and then combine that with the other score they gave the single player... it'll be a 9/10.

That's a little bit too specific. You generally wouldn't emphasize it that much as an English speaker. It would sound like you suddenly changed languages for one word. The way Brandon said it is fine and natural. -Bloodworth
@@EasyAllies ...but you are changing languages, its a Portuguese/Spanish name. With all due respect, speak for yourself, not all "english speakers" please, in Europe we generally try to pronounce the words as they are in the original languages. Mispronouncing foreign language/loan words leads to Hyperforeignism, like this: www.waywordradio.org/voila-vs-walla/ - what happens when you try to learn French later on in your life and you have all these broken versions of the words in your lexicon? The people you speak to will never think of you as a fluent, which isn't great because there will still be a barrier between your words and the meaning. I'm not saying everyone has to use a heavy accent when pronouncing loan words, but I'm sure you yourself try to pronounce japanese words as they are said by native speakers, in fact I've heard you doing this many times on livestreams. I've had plenty of foreign flatmates who call me "Been/Bean" and I wouldn't continue to correct them if they didn't take it on board, but I also wouldn't concede that its an alternative way to pronounce my name, they would just be saying it wrong, whether intentionally or not. We all pronounce things incorrectly throughout our lives, you aren't an idiot for realising you might be saying things wrong down the line, but its good to recognise how other languages work so you can make assumptions about other words from said languages. Sorry if this sounds hostile I don't mean for it to be, but this stuff is a slippery slope imo. Anyway, thanks for engaging so much, epsecially when you are as busy as I know you are Bloodworth.
I mean we live in Los Angeles. Unless you're speaking Spanish, anyone that went around saying the name of the city correctly would be considered a weirdo or a little full of themselves, and there are hundreds of similar examples throughout the region. Kentucky has a town named Versailles - it is pronounced ver-sales. The difference between the correct pronunciation and what Brandon says isn't even that extreme. It's just a difference in accent. Slightly more emphasis on the "ay" sound. Brandon still says it, it's just muted compared to a native speaker. There are actually similar examples of when Brandon has pronounced Japanese names that aren't exactly how they would sound in Japanese, but not "wrong enough" to be worth a correction. Conversely, Japanese speakers actually convert foreign words to sound more Japanese directly and intentionally. In Japan, I would not expect people to say my name correctly. Most would call me Danieru Buradowasu. There are definitely differences in expectations based on context. -Bloodworth
And to take it slightly further, knowing how his name is pronounced is also highly dependent on where he's actually from. Is it Portugal, Brazil, America? There are a lot of names here that sound very different from the countries they originated from. Even in my own family. -Bloodworth
What bothers me the most is If capcom releases This game Again with extended content that should have been there in first AND take full price!!!!!! They have done this one time to many in the past!!!
I wouldn't call Shenmue 3 one of the most anticipated games of all time, while I am amongst them, Shenmue's fanbase is passionate...but rather small. An niche game since the first entry.
I'm glad EZA/Huber decided to rate games on fun and not on length. I am so fucking tired of youtubers (and journalists sometimes) dropping the score because a game isnt the all-important "20 hrs minimum if its 60 bucks". I don't care, give me a 10 hr game (6hr in any game for Huber is 10 hrs for a normal human being lol) of the quality of RE2 and I'm sold. Hyped to discover RE3 with this remaster. Also played the multiplayer and its good fun (not incredible but not bad)
I figured the length might be an issue. The split campaign helped give RE2 a bit of extra replay, but I figured they might not bother trying to beef up RE3. It's short development time was also a red flag. That being said, I'm willing to be pay $60 for glorified RE2 remake DLC. It was my favorite game of last year.
As usual, always better than the IGN reviews. I'm not a die hard RE fan but I am invested enough to care about the lack of content and toned down blood and gore, what is this a game for sissies? But this is a hard pass until it inevitably goes on sale for $30 for the deluxe edition, heavily disappointed with Capcom making great come backs but leaving stuff up in the air like Vergil not being playable in DMC5.
The lighting in this game is pretty fucking exquisite I must say.... And this is how you do a female protagonist Hollywood... Non of that preachy feminist bullshit... Just a pure badass Heroine
Geez, I really miss the old Dead Space "game over" style. I mean, Issac Clarke could die in so many terrible and gross ways, and that is what we want from horror games! Capcom really should give Shinji Makami a call. That man knows what I'm talking about.

There’s a reason why the crash remakes were bundled together. Plus nemesis was originally going to be a side title while code Veronica was gonna be 3. Not that I have a problem with that, they had their reasons. Speaking of code Veronica, we may want to ask for a remake of that one next before we lose our shot.
damn with all these RE remakes, you know which RE i would be happy remaking?
RE: Code Veronica! C'mon capcom!
would be interesting. I doubt it though. RE: CV was really cheesy and way too anime. They really would've have to tone it down immensely.
CV was pretty crappy, admittedly. Probably not.
Re8 is next
I’d rather see re0 remade. The original zero was really a bad game. This team could do it better.
Smh.
@@TimNewmanGaming
That's one of the biggest travesties of this REmake!
@Kris
It's annoying to those who sucked at beating it, just like newbs that complained about Mr. X in REmake 2.
Dora the explorer, My Little Pony, and the Care Bears should be the proper difficulty level for these inept gamers.
@@TimNewmanGaming I love tank controls, yeah, I'm *that* guy. And yeah... In hindsight Re1rmk is the best because it respect all the OGs content.

I encourage everyone to start their first run on hardcore difficulty so the game doesn’t auto save for you and it forces you to take your time and think about your next move while you gradually make your way to the next typewriter and in turn will prolong the first playthrough . Damn 5-6 hours is just too short for a $60 game.
This type of thinking is what leads to modern games being boring, bloated open world games without any thought put into them.
well what were you expecting this isn't a dual story like re2's that being said a valid argument guess we know why resistance was created .
Go play a Trails game.
I like the length. Perfect length to be done and ready for FFVII next week!
You must be a millennial who never played or was a fan of the original resident evil games back on ps1 in the 90s . They’ve always been short games but high replay value .
Dude Huber. Well written my man. That was glorious.
$60 for a 5-6 hour game? What the actual fuck?

All RE games are not short, Code Veronica, RE Revelations 1&2 and RE4,5, and 6 are longer than four hours.

I was a bit disappoint the B scenario was so poorly implemented. The original had you do a different puzzle but in the remake both have to do the chess plug puzzle for some reason. It was kind of slapped on it feels.

What's the next Remake? Code Veronica?
Nice review, the surrounding negativity around the game based purely on its length was making me kinda sad...but its good to see that its worth the ride, as I anticipated it would be. It was always gonna be just a little under 2 though, RE3 original certainly was, its more of an action blockbuster.
The complaints aren't warranted imo. It's roughly the same length ad the original game which sold at full retail at launch back then too. If you don't think it's worth $60, that's okay though - it will be $25 by Christmas.
Exactly, wait until Christmas. Why does anyone need to rush and play this game?

I hope you enjoy it 👍 and ya dlc would be awesome
Probably not as you didn't mention it, does it have the mercenaries mode from the original?
Great review! 4-5 Hours sounds a bit too short for me so I'll probably wait for a sale on this one.
didnt he say 5-6?
I’ve watched Huber play enough games on stream to know he rushes through them. His length is probably a couple hours less than average. It took me a few hours longer to beat RE2 compared to Huber. He thinks it’s a crime to let go of the sprint button.
All the original RE games were 3-5 hours casually. Only the non-horror ones are “long” (meaning 8-15 hours) with the exception of CV, which is made long by endless backtracking, and RE7, which I think is 7-10 hours on a casual first playthrough.
"Video edited by Brandon Jones"
Me, also named Brandon Jones: *insert meme of dude blinking and shaking his head*
i love huber and his writing. Feels great to be an RE fan!
Huber's 5-6hrs is 9 scrub hours yes?
In my case even more playing in hardcore straight up.
Nah, the game is actually shorter than RE2 ;/
The soundtrack at the beginning is so fucking AWESOME!!!!
5-6 hours?! Daaamn that sucks. It's a bit too pricey for that runtime.
If you only play it once then yea it's a bit steep. But this game, like RE2, was meant to be played multiple times with different unlockables and rankings.
Except that RE3 has no multiple walkthroughs (original and 2nd run) and no challenge modes that it's hard to justify the high price on a really short game.
I completed RE2 Remake in 5 and a half hours, that this game also can be completed in around 6 is no surprise
@@GinraiPrime666 thats exactly why RE2 Remake starts off awesome and then the dissapointment starts to appear
100% agree and you even forgot RE2R got free DLC in The Ghost Survivors and No Way Out! That's how poor RE3R is in comparison
they cut half of RE2 and made it into 2 exact same scenarios which is worse
As much as I played the original, for some reason I'm not all that hyped for this remake and I'm not sure why.
Probably cuz Jill looks nothing like herself (a much uglier version)
I'm sure it will be a good game, but imo it came out a bit too quickly after RE2R and since they are very similar it feels like i already experienced it to soem degree. In some ways it feels more like something that could have been an addon to RE2R, which is weird considering is has been in development way before RE2R even came out yet it lacks content and detail in comparison.
Same. I was hyped for RE2 and pre-ordered it. This one I haven't.
5-6 hours is really short really surprised by the length
Slightly longer than a Claire or Leon scenario, right? If that’s the case I guess it makes sense.

Just a small correction, the 'vei' in Oliveira is pronounced 'vay', not 'veh' or 'vie' ;)
That's a little bit too specific. You generally wouldn't emphasize it that much as an English speaker. It would sound like you suddenly changed languages for one word. The way Brandon said it is fine and natural. -Bloodworth
Well this word in particular is the portuguese word for olive tree, but its all good L&R.
-Bloodworth

Terence Caron yes that’s true but £50 for 5-6 can be a decider for some people
Thank you Huber for making this game real
Is there a unlock-able Regina costume doe?
I figured the length might be an issue. The split campaign helped give RE2 a bit of extra replay, but I figured they might not bother trying to beef up RE3. It's short development time was also a red flag. That being said, I'm willing to be pay $60 for glorified RE2 remake DLC. It was my favorite game of last year.
As usual, always better than the IGN reviews. I'm not a die hard RE fan but I am invested enough to care about the lack of content and toned down blood and gore, what is this a game for sissies?
