Thanks a bunch for hearing me out! Please share your thoughts on the remake and how it compares to the 99' original. If you'd like to see more of my content, here's the Critical Nobody playlist - bit.ly/2M3r65U
Its GARBAGE. Although I think REmake 2 was pretty bad as well. Both games cant do what the original REmake did and thats put the PS1 games to bed. They either take functionality out (Zapping. Mercenaries mode). Mess up story details (Chief Irons. Jill. Leon being an idiot. The scientist chick. Nemesis). Or add in mechanics (OTS shooting) that, in the end, didnt add anything to the game because they hamstrung it for bad reasons (Durrr! it would be TOO EASY! LMAO. As if you couldnt limit ammo or add more enemies in!). I just wanted a game that both paid respect to the source material and its gameplay, as well as maybe "a bit more". Instead the best we got out of this is Marvin is cool and a better Mr. X. Yay. Thats EXACTLY what we needed ALL ALONG./s God this was such a monumental disappointment and the series deserved better than this.
Chris Heyward I’m worried they’ll tone down or remove the camp and utter ridiculousness of the game for “immersion” and “realism”. I don’t think that’ll go well as many more people have played re4 than re2/3 but it’s still a worry of mine. I want them to cut the majority of the quick time events though, those were horrible.
@@punctuationman334 I just bought RE4 today and God, the controls are terrible for mouse and keyboard and in general (it's because I didn't grow up in the PS2 era, I was born born 5 months before the release of RE4) if this reboot is actually good I'm not even gonna touch the original just because the controls just ruin the experience for me.
Chris Heyward I’ve been playing the game on ps4 and it’s totally playable, I haven’t bought the game for pc so I haven’t tried out mouse and keyboard yet. It takes some getting use to but using a controller makes the game a lot more playable, and using a Wii Mote is even better as it makes aiming super easy, but you have to have a wii for that.
marcus24000 NO NO NO AND NO RE1 REMAKE is an actual definition of a remake you can’t call new RE3 a remake the fact that it change to many things up to super unrecognizable like for instance dog nemesis and not tendril nemesis removing and changing areas radically cutting enemy’s out face it it’s a fucking Reimagining at best unfortunately and not a very good one at that. RE2 remake now that was more of a fucking remake then this crap RE3 reimagining will ever be if you really want to be technical once again this fucking game strayed WAAAAAAY to far from original RE3 nemesis to ever call it a remake just remember that JUST REMEMBER THAT what a waste of 60 bucks ugh 😑 Lost my two best friends from schools past because of this RE3 lie of a remake and for good reason to now I understand why nemesis name was not slapped on the title oh yes 🤨
The biggest problem I had with Re3 remake, was that they just took out so many iconic locations and just made the game smaller. Also, they nerfed Nemesis! Like wtf, the game they remade was Resident evil 3: NEMESIS. Why is Mr. X a better nemesis than nemesis?!
Nemesis was made as a better Mr.X in the PS1 days and RE3 remake appearently only cared about visuals, so it makes sence why the remakes turned out the way they did
@@lpfan4491 the most iconic location in the original is the streets of Raccoon City. Stop using cannabis. Clock Tower doesn't even take 30 minutes to beat up and has the most easy and silly puzzles of the game.
That is not what an iconic thing means in that context. Literally everyone talked about the clocktower when the remake cut it, even people who said "I do not mind, never liked the place". Everyone remembers it, that is the thing.
13:53 this really puts Leon from RE4 into perspective for me. Yeah he's a total campy badass that does some total anime bullshit like the room with the lasers, but ultimately he usually gets out of situations in that game with his actual skill which means he can back up his witty clapbacks with actual substance, meanwhile the times he actually had fuckups usually did affect him; When the rope on the boat latched onto his leg it legitimately sounded painful for him as he had to frantically cut at the rope. Once he got that cut from Krauser, the cut stayed on him for the rest of the game. When he gets infected with the plagas parasite, he legitimately gets taken over by it at one point and almost chokes his waifu Ada to death. And heck, if you get near Dr. Salvador he's not gonna get chainsawed on the shoulder and go "oof oof owie" and just clutch it with a limp like he woke up out of bed the wrong way, he gets his fucking head cut off. Meanwhile one common herb can cure Jill from being infested by parasites.
I really really hope RE4 remake keeps the decapitations, being cut in half and and getting your face melted off by acid etc. The death scenes in the remakes being a lot more toned down has me concerned whether that'll actually happen though.
@@II_XenLEGACY My greatest hope for the RE4 remake is that they pursue the Hookman demo concept because any attempt to recreate RE4 as it was will probably just play like Resident Evil 6. The fact of the matter is, in my opinion, you cannot improve upon a game like Resident Evil 4 barring getting rid of some of the QTE sections and making Ashley a bit more canonically competent but even then there's an entire section in RE4 where ashley does fine on her own so... yeah. Truthfully I don't think it will be good, or as good as RE4. Not with capcom's B team allegedly behind it. They still have time to prove me wrong, I'm not _hoping_ it will be bad just for the satisfaction of pointing at it and going "REMAKE GAME BAD", I legitimately hope they learn from the mistakes of RE3 and it ends up being good.
I hope they just do like a HD remaster if re4. Like, make the visuals way better and just do some quality of life changes. Also, is it worth getting RE4 these days? I never played it and I know my PC can run it(hopefully, if it can't run a game from 2005 I'm going to murder whoever designed it)
@@demonguysayshi2666 2 things, yes, it's worth getting the steam version, and another thing, re4hd.com has been worked on for like 6 years now, but it's shaping up pretty good even if it'll probably take another 6 to complete.
Isn't it weird how a game from twenty years ago on old hardware has a greater sense of scope than a brand new game doing the same thing? These recent remakes have less personality than the original I feel. I dread a Resi 4 Remake that zaps the camp out of the story
I'm calling it the 'concorde' effect. In the 1960s we managed to make a supersonic passenger jet, after half a damned century they started to break down and get retired, but for some reason - not replaced. How can something developed with the best technologies of the danged 60s *not* be made today.
It is completely inexcusable that games from the PS1 generation have more content and soul than big budget games today. All we get is graphics, graphics that mean nothing if the game underneath them sucks. Just ask Battlefield V how that worked out for them.
@@Gruntvc Not well. I do sympathize that games cost a hell of a lot more to make now, but it's still weird that higher graphical fidelity means a smaller feeling world.
@H.D Beird, That high cost is due to graphics and expensive marketing campaigns. It seems little actually goes into gameplay. Doesn't help that a lot of devs lately don't seem to be passionate or skilled like the ones who made older games that are still beloved years later.
My friend an RE fanatic did everything he could to test the Resistance beta when they released it to select few. It was all he talked about in anticipation. Once he played the test beta I never heard a word about it again.
@Dominic dominic Inferno mode is easy, that's why they already made mods that change zombies to lickers etc.. because RE3trashmake was too easy. You try playing RE0 or RE1 remake on hard. You wouldn't pass few rooms
Classic RE3 all the way!!! It still has the RE magic. Old School Resident Evils are the Creme of the creme... the HOLY Grail of RE is the macabre music in RE 1-3, very little talking during the game, soulless zombie growls instead of dog barking, and highly detailed rooms.. Modern Resident Evils lack this magic and instead they focus on modern Hollywood generic trends rather than original 90’s true survival classic epitome.
yeah, code veronica and re0 are my favorites. i would have loved to see 2 and 3 remade on gamecube just like the first game was, those would be so much more fun and replayable for me than these new remakes.
Lone Cyclist But the thing that makes me wince is that they’re his FAVORITE Resident Evil games while having the WORST execution and the WORST gameplay mechanics of ALL Resident Evil’s yet he prefers those OVER the much superior and better executed Resident Evil games out there! And FYI, the classic Resident Evil games with its so called own “ups and downs” are actually what makes them perfect, quirky and more memorable. It’s what gives them CHARACTER. Something that Code Veronica and RE0 REALLY LACK!
@@Mr.Honest247 i'm not sure what's so bad about the gameplay. they both play fine to me, they're just more challenging than the other classics, which is a large part of the reason they're my favorites. sometimes i think people claim difficulty in a game is poor game design. the evil within is a perfect example, it is a very challenging game and many claim it has poor mechanics. these same people claim the mechanics in part 2 are so much better, while to me they feel pretty much identical, the game is just significantly easier.
With Resident Evil, you either make it short and maze like or linear and long... you dont make it short and linear, and if you do you're just not doing it right.
2 remake was ALL BACK N FORTH puzzle's and 3 remake was ALL LINEAR. I personally believe a balance is requied, but thats just my little humble opinion as a horror writer with over half a million active fans (just type in David MorningWay on TH-cam and my work will come up) but read the description under the video image of course to see my name. Thanks to my title, everytime someone types in THE MOUNTAIN looking for stuff on Hafthor B (the mountain from GOT0 they will see my work, and I did not even understand YT algorithms at the time lol, oh but I do now lol 😈😎😇
The thing that rubs me raw the most about this remake is the resistance aspect, and how I can't shake the fact that Capcom trimmed out most my precious offline single player game to make room for some always online garbage multiplayer that nobody asked for and will be dead in a matter of weeks.
RE should not be online at all!! Play Operation Raccoon City if they want online play! RE at its core, was about the exploration of the unknown and PURE survival horror 😈😎😇
Because they done 2, then 3 and now 4. They're clearly doing the main title ones. Plus its one of the best selling REs ever, why wouldn't they? No idea how people are even remotely surprised.
I used to love Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. When I was a kid, shooting through a horde of zombies, survive with your life and 4 bullets just to hear "STARS" was the single most heart attack inducing thing. Not played any of the remakes but can't imagine the work involved trying to make a man nearing 40 feel the same way.
@I am your mom, OK? Super hard is relative, the original puzzle wasn't hard for me. If anything its a bit out of place in a game as action oriented as RE3, nobody missed it except maybe you.
It's really just a shift in the industry from having technical minded programmers calling the shots to wannabe screenwriters that can't hack it in hollywood and come to games instead.
You just described Kojima and people engorge in his games, so this has been happening since the early 2000 or roughy 69% of the history of games are have been disposable trash made for sequels.
@@Aaron-g9b Kojima is very good at building hype and being cinematic, gameplay is usually the most mediocre part of any game he's ever done. Just look at death standing FFS.
@@lasarousi one of the worst takes I have ever seen, death stranding had fantastic gameplay and I don't even need to mention MGS, it speaks for itself. You are a philistine.
RE3 also had the single best delivery of the Nemesis voice line, the way he said “stars” in the original will always be how I remember the line mostly fondly.
Funny enough, I have been working on my own RE TH-cam project that counts down my top twenty bosses, and I state that Nemesis has an edge over Ustanak, specifically because he stalked you while you free-roamed. He was not just there for scripted set-pieces and mandatory boss battles. Ironically, I would later find out that the remake’s Nemesis is now mostly just there for linear set-pieces and mandatory boss battles, just like Ustanak, after I once pointed that out to contrast why Ustanak was not quite as great a pursuer as Nemesis in my opinion.
Since we got jill and Carlos classic skin they really should and I hope they will give us Nemesis classic skin. Its iconic and definitely should be a option.
Wasn't Marvin being bitten shown in RE Outbreak File 2? In the "Desperate Times" scenario, the ending shows how Marvin was infected and how he ended up in the room Leon/Claire find him in.
Yes it was and the Outbreak games are canon too so that means Brad never bit Marvin which only proves both that the people who made this game knew little of RE lore and didn't care about it anyway(and there are many more inconsistencies that break canon in this "remake", that is far from the only one), they probably only ever saw RE2 and even then only the "remake" of RE2 and thought it would be so cool to show that to tie the games together. Also in the original RE3 Jill sees Marvin already infected and passed out in the police station since he had been bitten before Brad died anyway so even if you never saw or played Outbreak you can see from RE3 that zombie Brad would never have infected him. This is just one of many details that prove that this "remake" is not canon in any way. Nor is the RE2 remake in my opinion, although that one at least tried to have the same story as the original. As it is the Remake of RE1 is canon but you better disregard the reimaginings of 2 and 3 as little more than spin-offs inspired in the originals. Kinda like the missions in Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles that relate to the original games are more retellings of the original games but reimagined to fit the gameplay and to give context to the new mission and should never be considered canon or substitutes for the actual original games, sure they are fun to play if you enjoy onrails shooters(and I love games like House of the Dead so I enjoy the Chronicles games very much) but the stories and events will break canon completely if you take them remotely seriously.
@@Survivor-cc5kg I mean... Kind of? The REmake is canon. They incorporated the Trevor family into the canon. They wouldn't need to make a separate canon if they'd just faithfully remade the originals like everyone wanted
Its actually the system from RE7 but to be honest I think the remake series is just to test features that will be in RE8 and the story edits are to cover their butts when people call bs in future titles but they will claim that the original titles have been retcon in the series moving forward and as for RE4 reimaginings I feel they will mess around with Jack Krauser but they will try to make it seem like the parasite put into Leon will have more of an effect on him in the game so that people can say but RE4 is more "scary" this time around even if the knife fight is cut or Jack Krauser becoming some combo of being Nikolai and Nemesis/Mr X which would suck as that would just be them throwing away his character for a lesser kind of character.
I don't get why capcom never just goes back to Outbreak's style of gameplay. That was the good one, where it was just Resident evil with co-op but still very horror focused.
And the camera angles were dynamically-focused. Fixed, but not static and followed the player. Fixed camera angles add more horror and less anticipation, the same features as showcased in Resident Evil 7's first-person design choice.
RE3 was such a let down I still haven't finished. Cleared the hospital with carlos and got bored... If only I hadn't waited in queue for mastermind in resistance for over 8 hours I would have asked for a refund...
@marcus24000 Different strokes for different folks. Realy happy for you for enjoying the game. Part of my frustration I admit came from project resistance (maybe 60 to 70% if I were to put a number). That said, I didn't like the sequences that felt like a hallway (running from nemesis at the start, or at the tower while he flamethrows at you, or running from dog nemesis in the bridge in front of the clocktower). Felt like I was watching a movie rather than playing a game. I didn't like that from what I played, after you leave the sewers with jill, all you do is fight bosses. Between flamethrower nemi and dog nemi, there was the police station with Carlos. When I jumped back on Jill, I thought ok there is more exploration, and then you see the clocktower, and I was like, ok, some more exploring. I didn't expect to boss fight so quickly, hence why I didn't take the grenade launcher with me, and that fight is a hog if you don't have the mines. While there was a Carlos section in between, Jill's section felt too short of a rest in between boss fights. I've played the original, it's my favorite RE game (yes, I like it more than RE4, which I feel doesn't follow in the spirit of the original RE games, and while a fun game, it is something different entirely). I know it is more action-oriented, but the remake felt more linear than the original. I intend to go back to it at some point and finish it, but in my frustration, I stopped playing, got Alien Isolation on sale for 2$, and started playing it. That one so far is a MUUUCH better experience in my opinion, so RE3R will have to take a back seat for now.
@marcus24000 I think he just doesn't want the same number of Boss fights for a game with half the size. I beat the game 2 times, normal and hardcore and yeah. way too little exploration and too many boss fights, you almost can't breathe. Still not disapointed in buying the game but I seriously expected a game with the same quality as RE2R
@marcus24000 Could be but I don't think so, they just cut corners. It was probably because of Capcom itself and not the Dev team. Just compare RE7 and RE2R with RE3 and you can tell that the last didn't get the same love as the former 2.
This might be a little paranoid of me, but I’m getting the sense that Capcom is trying to cash in on the Resident Evil nostalgia because Resident Evil 8 might just do something radically different like being paranormal or supernatural horror instead of biological, and they’re afraid it just might bomb, and these remakes are their backup in case that happens.
@@Gruntvc Reminds me of when RE4 was first coming about, they started taking it down a paranormal route before changing it, but there is an actual playable demo of the "lost version" out there somewhere
You have a point there. Cause I really liked RE7 but if I'm not mistaken it sold less than RE2 Remake which in a way it makes sense that it would sell less. However also there were complaints about it not having enough type of enemies. So really by in large it was a risk what they did with RE7 but it paid off to me.
Doran Mitchell It definitely paid off for them. It gave them a new engine, gameplay mechanics, assets, etc. to transfer on to several titles, and a new approach which I’m sure they found satisfying to work on.
Well hey one positive is that not as many people are going to riot in the comments like they did in the re2 video because many people are probably going to agree with you😐
there was time for them to fix RE2 remake, literally add a B scenario difficulty, maybe a few new cutscenes or just even going to the weapons locker as Claire, seeing the shotgun also there and have her mutter something "better leave the shotgun for Leon" just something simple like that does so much. So many ideas to easily fix this shit, but the fans who once were critical on Capcom did a complete 180 turn when it came out because they are so scared of being hated by the fans who just love Capcom no matter what. Now RE3 is even worse with a few exceptions like the music (which btw was one of the only things people criticized from RE2r).
First Ruby of Blue's incredible video. Now this. Two critics with professional understanding on how to do a remake right. I've yet to play the remake, but I have been playing the original trilogy and 3: Nemesis is my favourite for its improved control, more tense gameplay thanks to Nemesis, and some of the highest replay value in the series. I can understand why some may prefer 2 considering it gave me a really strong first impression, but I did grow tired of it after four playthroughs. I'm still playing 3: Nemesis and I'm still having a blast.
I enjoy RE2 1998's story and characters, especially Clair A Leon B runs. But yeah, RE3 Nemesis 1999 is arguably the best of the classic trilogy. Completely refined tank controls, excellent graphics, high replay factor, and the introduction of the Mercenaries bonus mode to the franchise. I especially enjoyed how RE3 priorities player choice and gameplay thanks to the the branching paths and built in RNG elements. While playing RE3 Remake 2020, I felt the game resented the player. It suffers from many of the problems a lot of big budget AAA games have lately. They feel like they want to be movies, not video games. Doesn't help how easy RE3 Remake feels.
Honestly, after this disaster, I'd prefer they'd leave RE4 and Code Veronica alone. They're fine as they are and my heart can't handle another letdown like this.
@marcus24000 the game received some mediocre critics from german magazines as well. One particular famous gaming site compared the Remake with the OG by fair points. The Remake lost with 2 to 5 points. The Remake has way too many issues to be a good game.
RE2 remake did end up being my personal game of the year last year, as i felt it was a perfect middle ground between classic RE and RE4. the behind the shoulder perspective and manual aiming of 4, with more metroidvania like level design, route planning, inventory management, and puzzles of classic RE. RE3r on the other hand feels like it leans more toward RE4, because it is much more linear and removes pretty much all puzzles. RE3r still had the same inventory management system from RE2r, but the more linear nature made it feel way less important. the most disappointing thing was nemesis. i was hoping he would just be a souped up Mr. X, but aside from one short section between the power station and subway, he really isn't like that. Nemesis is more of an entity that shows up for brief scripted chase sequences and boss fights. the section where Nemesis is kind of like Mr. X, isn't even close to as well done as Mr. X. Mr. X was slower, but the stomping around and having him just pop up out of no where was so damn exciting and tense in the first playthrough. Nemesis never feels close to as threatening. that said, RE3r was good, but definitely not worth full price. it felt more like a 20-30 dollar DLC campaign for RE2r.
Totally agree. The original game did a good buld up and great first ecounter for Nemesis, while here he just pop up, throw you agaisnt the wall and get his ass kicked again and again. He is more annoying than anything else. Looking at the visuals, I don't like his second pahse that much, it's just dull. I like the design of fisrt phase quite a lot, though. Also, maybe it's me, but I felt that the pace of the game isn't very good neither.
RE2R has it's "problems" but it's a great game and a great RE. Faaaaaaaar superior tô RE3R. RE3 R is Just a quick cash grab. It's like some people think it's cool tô say that only the RE1 REMAKE is great because it's super "old school" to say this, even more now with this RE3R. 😂
the only thing i need to say is that For all the hate that michael bay gets, he made The Rock and that's one awesome movie from the 90s, his best movie and probably one of the best action movies ever and that's it, i agree with everything else.
Farid Saba Henry One of the best action movies ever?!?? Yeah right... have you seen some of the best action movies ever?!?? There’s no way The Rock comes close...
Resident Evil 2 Remake: What did we get? Main story: First and Second run, Costumes: five for Leon and six for Claire, 4th survivor, tofu survivors and the Ghost Survoirs DLC. Resident Evil 3 Remake: What did we get: Main story, The Shop , a few costumes, and Resistance. WHY RESISTANCE?! Just remake Resident Evil Outbreak and include multiplayer like the original.
All these over-the-top set-piece QTEs remind me of Tomb Raider Anniversary, and more specifically how it dumbed down its iconic source material bits (e.g. the T-Rex encounter). It's very flashy, but without the player overcoming the odds themselves the moments feel hollow.
Yeah. I do remember Tomb Raider Anniversary also cut a few parts from the original game without much new to replace it, more so in greece and egypt. Makes me wonder actually how OG fans took it at the time considering most people only ever played Anniversary due to easier controls and simply refuse to play the original and the same can be said for these recent RE remakes.
@@royal2852 I recall it having a very mixed reception among the older fans, until the next reboot came along and made it look incredibly faithful by comparison. I'm still not a huge fan of it, and it felt far shorter than the classic games, but it made for a fun afternoon.
Anniversary was the game that introduced me to tomb raider so I have fond memories of it and out of the three games it was a part of it was the best one. In my opinion that is but I'm that one guy who likes angel of darkness. Still it a hell of a lot better than that shit they called Thief from a few years ago
Aside of many, many other concerns, on 6. Dodging, my main concern is that it has no limitations of use. You can literally perfect dodge it as much as you want and always stay on top. A certain fatigue would apply some value to the function. But in a product so rushed and careless - obviously there wasn’t time to even think about it, leaving implementation alone.
That was intentional because it's final boss. You go and compare standard enemies from RE2 remake and this now and see what I'm talking about. I suggest you check out video by Nick930, where he compares these 2 games.
@marcus24000 most of the gore that you're mentioning are mostly found on game over screen dude. who the fk wants to waste their time dying on purpose just to see a death animation? Sure they can downgrade the gore aspect, but atleast keep the horror aspect intact, which was missing in re3r.
@marcus24000 now you are a complete idiot...the guy told you to watch a video which you haven`t ...I don`t know if its the one the guy says but I have watched videos compering normal zombie gore between RE2R and RE3R. When you shoot a zombie with the pistol on their legs on RE2R their leg slowly tears off and they fall. This doesn`t happen in RE3R. In RE3R their legs bounce kinda weirdly until they get stunned or their legs come off...no in between slowly tearing off...Go test it it will literally take you like 5 minutes. Or watch the damn video
Both games are very well designed and will be remembered as amazing horror video games. They are both very well received by critics and public and show very strong sales.
damn it is so sad. i grew up playing the original with my brothers and my sister as a child and always replayed over the years, this game is so special to me, my favorite in the series. i wish capcom would do this right like re4r, why did you do this...
They missed at the chance in the remake to show nemesis show up at the rpd before leon and clarie. To break through the wall at the shower room, but nope. They made Carlos break the wall
"she's not running for her life, she's just late for her waitressing job at Denny's" is so incredibly appropriate. You nailed that description of lack of urgency for sure.
I'm glad you mentioned the pacing issue in RE3. I was trying to articulate it the other day and I think you summed it up perfectly. You've basically got the game forcing your foot on the accelerator the entire game and I never really feel like I have time to explore, flex a bit of ammo on some monsters to feel cool or generally get surprised. Honestly I think a lot of the issues/cut content we see is the result of them making this game and RE2R at the same time and this game got a lot of stuff cut most likely for resource contention.
Yeah...... It's been touched up already I have no clue what they're gonna do but I doubt it'll have seperate ways, assignment Ada, AND mercenaries. I'd rather it live on instead of seeing it stripped down. I've been joking they'll do it with fixed cameras since it pioneered 3rd person for the resident evil series at least
An RE4 remake will probably earn more money than a CV remake. At the same time though, there's way more that could potentially go wrong with an RE4 remake compared to pretty much any other RE game, which means the backlash from features being cut like in the previous remakes would be catastrophic here.
i like the analogy of this being michael bays re3. the analogy of re3 remake being Paul W S Andersons resident evil game (without his wife) is an analogy i like better.
Perfect dodging was actually in the original too, but only applicable to the handgun. Jill would sometimes perform a roll during a dodge, and would end up on one knee, allowing her to fire the handgun much faster.
I totally agree, while RE2R cut some stuff like zapping system, interaction between Leon and Clair, and made Scenarios nearly identical, I feel like RE3R cut even more off RE3. I also think that while remakes of 2 & 3 are very good games on their own, they are not faithful to the source enough to be good remakes.
REmake 2 went above and beyond what was expected of it. Its a lengthy , meaty with ingenius zombie design,.best stalker in gaming and lordran tier level design. I cannot believe that some actually dare criticize REmake 2, a game that over delivers in every aspect.
Maybe it went beyond your expectations, but as you can see not everyone shares your opinion. It could be that you set your expectations low from get go or some people, me included, expected little bit more, like at least including all things from original and little more like REmake did before it just in 3rd person. All in all both remakes are still good games.
The quick exposition bit killed me Take my like. The best part is that "Escape From The City" is playing which is so fitting. Edit: I take it back, The line "She's not running for her life, She's a few minutes late for her waitressing job at Denny's" brought this whole thing together Edit 2: Critical Nobody, please stop being funny "Changing the substation to a lair of bug creatures that forcibly hentai Jill seems like needless shock value and make my peepee feel weird."
Even though I thought this game was pretty good, I feel like you did a really good job addressing what the original did better. I agree with a lot you said here. Something I think you should know though is that this game was developed along side RE2R and was developed by a studio comprised of ex Platinum game devs. You know, the same people who made Metal Gear Rising and Bayonetta. No, I don't get why Capcom had them make what's supposed to be a horror game either. Thanks for reading!
The reason why capcom made the original games so repayable has little to do with pleasing players. In the 90's and early 2000's renting computer games was huge. Capcom wanted to sway the consumer from renting and buy the game instead. Replayability was just a commercial decision
That's a bit of an oversimplification. This was more the case for older games. By the PS1 era, you'll find that a major difference between then and now was that developers were often given ample time and freedom, and when we have a lot of content, it usually means the developers finished with time to spare, and came up with some mini-games that could recycle the existing assets that were already included in the game. Conversely, you'll find that some games were not finished with enough time left over to do this, and have comparatively minimal extras.
REmake 2: No proper B Scenarios, cut enemies, music TOSSED out the window for a new minimalist OST that is thoroughly medicore. QTE Gator (Yes I know the one in OG RE2 was essentially a QTE in a way, but you COULD fight it normally too) Game is overly dark as a cheap way to replace the tension from the pre-rendered screen and fixed camera REs, etc, etc. REmake 3: No Nemesis choices, etc. Supposed Dino Crisis Remake: We were too f***ing lazy to make a T-Rex. Have a giant raptor that we just set their scale to 10 in the editor. It's hitboxes don't even f***ing work properly because we literally just upscaled the f***er to T-Rex size. We also modelled Regina's face after a literal goblin we found under a bridge in New York. Because character artists don't F***ing exist anymore and we're lazy and oh look shiny face scanning technology. Etc. Don't even try to revive Breath of Fire either, they'll just F*** it up... again. They already tried it once and just churned out some shite MMO thing and then just slapped the name BOF6 on it. Dragon Quarter was a masterpiece compared to that shit. Hell it's a decent game on it's own.
I played most of the survival horrors out there and Resident Evil 1 Rebirth is the one that scared me the most. There's nothing like coming back to a cleared room to discover that the zombie you killed 1 hour ago rise up and sprint to you.
RE3 could've had a semi open exploration of Raccon City, choices like do this first instead of this or an alternative way to do it Raccoon City feels big in the RE2 remake and u don't even go out to the city that much, and in RE3 remake the city feels big but u feel ULTRA limited
It's really bizarre for me that arguably one of the most important things about gaming - player's agency - is the first thing they cut down with these remakes. No cutscene can replace the feeling of you being in command of your experience. :(
Im glad you made the comment about Mercenaries. It was a really fun thing for me as a kid. I was so upset when i beat my first run and it wasnt there. My first thought was genuinely "well, i guess that means im done playing this unless i wanna get all the trophies" kinda not worth my 60 bucks. As a fan of the series i bought it. But i would rather replay 2. At least we got the HUNK mission in that one.
I respect RE2r much more than RE3r, because it's obvious that the developers tried to include as much of the original as possible. Hell, often times they even begged the directors to include certain content
@@mynameisharry8739 Exactly. They not only kept most of the original content. But with Re3r i feel like they gutted the game and took out all the good things. I felt so terrible buying it at full price. Not that i dont enjoy supporting Capcom. But it just felt like a sham of a game.
As a writer myself, I often wonder if devs ever watch videos like this? Or do they know all this and every failiure is caused by a lack of money and time?
I know that this comment is dated, but I think the modern devs from big corporates don't care about criticism, they only care about money they can get (and Capcom is pretty succesful) also people tend to accept weaker products every year

What are your creations/creation? I always support my fellow writers! Also Mr. Creeps does Perception which he renamed WE WERE TOLD TO NEVER LEAVE THE FOREST, I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED. Funny fact about THE MOUNTAIN (OLYMPIC MOUNTAIN SERIES) I researched MANY guns to make sure I had every thing spot on, except for one, because freakin Barry always carried a 44. Colt Python, but one of my fans told me that the 44. was actually called the ANACONDA...thanks BARRY!!! Thank goodness I have not had it professionaly edited yet! They should hire US to write a new RE script! OH, or just take what S.D. Perry wrote (author of the RE novels), they were amazing!!!! When Billy Cohen gets attacked while taking a shit on the toilet, added such a realistic aspect to everything! Like people that scared would FOR SURE HAVE THE SQUIRTS, and would have to act accordingly WITH the monsters around!!! 😈😎😇
Man i was hyped af for this game and as I was playing it my excitement just kept dwindling the more I played. Lol the game is still fun but there are alot of problems. I also hated the final Nemesis fight. Jill really didn't even have to fight him cuz a nuke was gonna wipe everything out anyway but they wanted to have badass Jill wielding a railgun lol.
The first trilogy made me think about real life. Politics, weapons, chemistry, art, piano music, friendships, career choices... The new games absolutely don't. They could just keep the piano music and naive empathy to these characters lines. But they didn't.
I understand why people like the 3rd person camera set-up, but I have always liked the static camera angles and tank controls. I NEVER liked the switch in RE4, and so it really bugs me that I don't even get that option. I was really looking forward to an HD version of 2&3 a-la RE1 and Zero. (Yes, I know there are mods, but it's not the same.)
So true story: I was playing RE3 for my gaming channel when it came out. But LSS, I lost some footage and had to replay some parts. It was then that I realized how heavily scripted every encounter was, and all my enthusiasm for the game just died. Remember when Nemesis is chasing Jill through the burning building? There's a save point on the top floor, just before the boss fight. You can stop there for as long as you want EVEN THOUGH THE BUILDING IS ON FIRE. It's ridiculous!
Depends on the remake in my opinion. RE2make may be severely lacking in some aspects but I believe it still outdid the original in other fields, being just as great as it but for different reasons, also confirming itself as more than just a copy. I genuinely thought "This is the best RE we got since Code: Veronica" when listening to Saudade after beating G5. RE3make, however, doesn't have enough pros to outweight the cons and managed to fail at giving us a proper Nemesis of all things, easily the most iconic aspect of the third chapter. The characters and interactions are generally better, sure, the gameplay's great, seeing iconic creatures return is nice too, but it failed at too many other things to be acceptable, especially when considering it offers substantially less than the second. Still a great game but it also feels like a kick in the balls.
@@DrRESHES To each his own I guess. Can't deny the 2nd playthroughs had me seriously pissed off though, and Irons was just too much of an ass to give him that aura of intrigue he originally had. But hey, better Ada, better Sherry, better Annette, more control and options without sacrificing the horror aspect, great Mr. X perpetually stalking you and so on.
No, the game does not directly tell you about perfect dodging. I discovered it near the end of my first run and literally yelled "I could do that the WHOLE time??"
Correction tho, the factory isn't just any random factory. It was dubbed as the Dead Factory, and the place pretty much serves as a dumping place for Umbrella's endeavors. Which is actually a more interesting idea to expand on that stupid ass NEST 2: Electric Bugaloo. Though I guess you can blame OG RE3 for not really giving enough info to the player of what even the place is supposed to be.
RE3make was not made by same team as RE2make. RE3make should not have been sold for $70 when Resistance was advertised as a free add on…or was we paying for $70 for Resistance with a tacked on RE3make? 🤔
"A remake of Resident Evil 4 was in development, the one game in the series that no one asked to be remade." Oh, you have no idea. When RE2 Remake came out Resident Evil fans were literally begging for it. I just don't understand why RE fanboys would rather have a cheap remake of an old Resi game than a new game. They hated 7, but will defend this mediocre remake, I just don't understand.
Sunk Cost Fallacy with a heaping dose of nostalgia is the reason why. Me? I've split 2 Remake's cost with a friend after waiting months for it to be 60% off. Good value, but we still both criticize it for its relatively short length and half assed Leon and Claire "differences."
They didn't add Resistance to add value to the package. They deliberately cut RE3 down so that players would breeze through it and then move onto Resistance where all the microtransactions live. RE3 was just a trojan horse to get Resistance onto people's hard drives.
2:40 This so hard! I've mentioned this myself in every single place as my main criticism for the remake. It literally removes every single aspect that made RE3 OG stand out from RE2 OG and it's baffling how Capcom found that to be ok.
My only guess is that the Capcom higher-ups in charge saw how the RE2 Remake got away with an utterly half-hearted equivalent to its predecessor’s A/B scenarios, then felt like they could get away with even more cuts to the features that gave the original RE3’s campaign structure some variety and replayability. Last year, that to me was easily the RE2 Remake’s biggest shortcoming (even more so than the incomplete new musical score and missing enemy types), yet it seems not enough people voiced that criticism to make those in charge of Capcom care enough to delay RE3 Remake, if they even got the memo.
Nemesis - The latest, most dangerous B.O.W from Umbrella sent down to cut every loose end in RC or in other words assassinate every S.T.A.R.S member left - Cannot even complete half of his objective (and there were only 2 left in the city) Come to think of it, even a random zombie did a better job killing S.T.A.R.S member than "the Nemesis" himself (Whom that built SOLELY TO KILL S.T.A.R.S member). Man Umbrella sucks...
Then again, since Chris, Barry, and (presumably) Rebecca were all outside of Raccoon City at the time, it would have been impossible for Nemesis to even kill half of S.T.A.R.S. It seems like the original RE2 and RE3 backed themselves into a corner that way, plus Brad was already bitten by a zombie in the original and the most incompetent member to begin with. So I honestly still do not know whether I consider it an improvement or downgrade, that Brad simply succumbs to his zombie bite and has that scene with Marvin in mid-transformation, which ties back to RE2 Remake and reminds me of Keeper’s Diary in RE1. It makes Brad himself a bit more interesting as a character for me... but it also removes the novelty of seeing Nemesis at least kill one S.T.A.R.S. member... even if he was the weakest of them all and doomed from the start regardless.
@@markcobuzzi826 Agree with you, honestly I like the Marvin Outbreak cutscene. I think they can simply cheese their way outta this is to make Brad doing a last stand in Jack's Bar against not just zombies, but Nemesis (doable 'cause Nemesis is already been introduced earlier in Jill's apartment). Then he lost and got infected by Nemesis, later they can still keep the Marvin RE Outbreak cutscene. In this way, they can have more screentime for Brad, justify his death, redeem his action from the mansion (by staying and buying time for Jill from Nemesis). They also can make Nemesis intimidating when he can ruthlessly complete his objective anyway he can. Also smooth out the chase scene in Jill's apartment so Nemesis don't just stop when he hit the backdoor, but burst through and continue to chase both Brad and Jill until Brad stop him at Jack's Bar. And by this way they can highlight NE-parasite enhanced virus and Jill's resistance to the virus (Nemmy infect Brad, turn in just mere hours. Then Nemmy infect Jill, take more than half a day for her to begin turning). Rather than making the virus from a random zombie bite is even way more effective than virus from the Nemesis.
@@dofydudes1735 I think they could maybe shown Nemesis piercing Brad's belly with the tentacle, rather than his brain. Brad could feel that he is dead anyway from his zombie bite, so he might as well buy time for Jill by shooting at Nemesis. But Nemesis is smart enough to not waste too much time on Brad and just knock him out of commission, before continuing his pursuit of Jill. That way, you could have both the Marvin scene and a part where Nemesis interacts with Brad (maybe he could then impale Tyrell through the skull to make up for Brad's more tame run-in). The only potential drawback I could see with this approach is that it could make Brad talking seem a bit more out of place. Rather than it just having Brad get infected and slowly transition from a living human into an "undead" zombie, allowing him to have a few final words when he is on the brink of turning... it would have Brad get infected by a zombie bite, be fatally wounded by Nemesis' tentacle piercing his belly, go into clinical "death", and then reanimate as a mutant zombie yet still be able to talk for a few more moments.
I would add that the perfect dodge simply makes the game stupidly easy when you learn how to use it properly. And that they pretty much elminated all the tension and horror by making Nemesis an annoying stalker intead the terrfying pursuer that he was in the original, eliminating ink ribbon on hardcore, making zombies weaker (even if more numerous) and making your character weaker on high dificulties (nothing better to increase tension than having you dying again and again in the same spot. Yep, it doesn't increase frustration or trivialize death, that increase tension). I mean, I expected that being a continuation of 2 remake, 3 remake was doomed to be less impactful, but they didn't even try, or went wrong on pretty much everything. And man, what a day would the one Capcom make a well written entry. I know it is Resident Evil, but 7 was almost good in that aspect.
@@LimitlessPotential12 man, Im sorry for your ass, but I don't think I have mastered the game nor I have any wish to do it. I don't play Resident Evil for stupid level challenge, but for the horror/tension part. So better luck next time with your bets.
@@mikel66661 you dont get my point...the dodge you say makes the game TOO easy. And here comes my point.. IF YOU PLAY THE GAME ON HIGHER DIFFICULTIES THE DODGE MECHANIC IS ESSENTIAL. It doesnt brake the game at all. Now if you have the attention span of a 2 year old and cant master a game then that's your problem. The game has the higher difficulties for a reason. If you are a casual player that wants to play it once and never again then thats your problem...the devs want the player to have multiple Playthroughs.
@@LimitlessPotential12 well, if you implement a game mechanic that is only balanced around 2 hardest difficulties, which aren't even unlocked at the beginning, the you did a bad design. That mechanic shouldnt not break the game on the hardcore and still does it. An sorry but your elitist opinion is both wrong and pointless. I play a game as many timed as I want and doesnt make me a casual player. And FYI, I have played various Resident Evil multiple times and still I dont care or want about challenge or matering the game, I revisit those game for the horror experience. Your are free to play a game in an unbalanced difficulty as much as you want, I will stick with a well balance middle ground.

Sometimes all a remake needs is a fresh coat of paint and some quality of life additions. That said, I fully agree with your assessment of the original RE2 and 3 verses their REmakes. Both games had so much removed from them that they are barely recognizable, save for the more iconic elements. I feel the originals had a slow build of tension, and escalation of threats not seen in the remakes. There were also more subtle moments and character actions that further fleshed out the world and lore of Resident Evil and Raccoon city that were lost in the REmakes. As for Perfect Dodging, I think there is a dialogue box that pops up quickly to explain it when the game explains dodges... but it's not well described. Finally, I really, really dislike the new look for Nemesis. The trench coat look was iconic compared to the new melted body bag of the RE3make.
Plus, because Resistance is designed to push you into its own microtransactions, it is definitely not something worthy of being called a “free add-on” to RE3 Remake. Simply put, they are two separately monetized products which somehow can only be bought together, giving an illusion that you are getting more for your purchase of the first product.
6:06 Even though he was scripted at points you always felt like the original Nemesis was lurking around and could pop up at any time. Remake Nemesis on the other hand only appears in certain places and you get the sense that Jill stops being his priority as soon as she's out of his sight even though his whole mission is to kill her.
I didn't like RE4 since I felt capcom really started getting away from the roots, however this is a great critical review on RE 2 and 3. I totally feel the same way and could not have expressed it any better. Capcom could have done so much more with RE 3 and if the vision is already being lost, I'm afraid for RE 4 remake.
A few things that I love about RE3R. Sasha Zotova is perfect as Jill. Evade function is great. The way Jill is written is great. Jaded yet still likable. Tough, but not invincible. Great chemistry between her and Carlos. Visuals are great.
Thought I’d give my two cents on things I agree/disagree with -Sasha Zotova is a great model in general, but not a good character model for Jill Valentine (Jill’s ethnicity is part Japanese part French, her new character model makes her look too Russian. And of course, that’s because Sasha herself is Russian.) -Evade function is a great feature. But to add onto that, I wish the same could be said about when the zombies catch you. In the original game, if a zombie caught you, you could tap a button rapidly to get out of the hold, but for some reason, that’s not the case here. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel no control over having to watch Jill get her neck eaten out by a random ass zombie every time she gets caught (unless she has a shiv). - While I can’t deny the fact that Jill’s character is “fleshed out” in the remake, a lot of that has to do with the fact that they rewrote her characters personality to fit this games grittier tone, which I honestly did not like. Jill being Jaded makes sense because of the Spencer Mansion incident, and she is certainly a tough woman in general, but she just comes across as obnoxiously cold and mean in this game which doesn’t make sense for her character. Jill is a kind and caring person who values human life, and she wouldn’t be so callous as to not simpathize even with members of “the enemy” that is the mercenary group of Umbrella. In this remake, she is immediately cold to them, even when seeing Mikial wounded. While this makes sense in the confines of this game, if you want to treat it as it’s own stand alone thing, it doesn’t make sense for her to act this way given the context of who she is from the other games that preceded this remake. - Her and Carlos do have good chemistry, but again, it doesn’t feel like Jill and Carlos. At least, it’s not really them. Carlos was much more suave, but Jill was dismissive of his advances, being cheeky with a “keep dreaming” one liner. But the core essence of that is not present in the remake, at least not at the start. In the beginning, Jill is much more hostile to Carlos. When saying surely she could douse out a few fires because she’s “a tall drink of water.” Her only reply was a simple “fuck you.” This doesn’t feel like the Jill I know, she’s never so outwardly hostile. And I know this’ll sound nitpicky, but even if she is, she doesn’t do something as immature as curse at them. But I’ve noticed in these remakes and the newer resident evil games, every character seems to curse like a drunken sailor and it feels… forced. Again, as a stand alone thing, it’s an okay game, but as a remake of RE3 I believe it’s a disappointment. But no hate at all, good for you that you like it.
@@gabrielcaro Jill doesn't look part-Japanese in ANY iteration, so this isn't an argument. I also didn't know Russians have a specific look outside being mostly white. Oh, RE3R is a disappointment, I just pointed out things I loved about it.
@@gabrielcaro everything you said about the new jill was 100% correct. I truly miss her old personality. Idk why capcom is changing personalities of these old characters .
Well you say gunpowder mixing is one of the things RE3 Remake didn't remove, but you forgot that they still took out making upgraded versions of ammunition
Upgraded ammo for pistol and shotgun. Plus no freeze grenade rounds. They also cut all the cool weapon and item drops from the original. No new pistol, shotgun, or 1st Aid Spray bag. Remake, only drop Nemesis twice to get two upgrade parts for the starting pistol. Otherwise, complete waste of ammo.
This remake had the potential to be the best game in the series. Imagine being able to explore an entire city with these modern gaming techniques, with the constant threat of the Nemesis following you. Tensions would be high, paranoia would be rampant. Missed opportunity
Remake: build from ground up with new engine and some extras added. May include the latest mechanics from recent titles due to having built with the same engine. Some stuff are added to ease/fix the gameplay or to redo a level to fix mistakes or fill up something that was missing from the original game due to time constraint or technology. Sometimes remake is done based on how it was originally planned/intended to be so expect some stuff that was never get out of drawing board to be added. Remaster: usually the original engine getting a full HD makeover. Engine's visual is cranked up to 11 & made for 16:9 ratio and new texture. Resolution are scaled for modern monitors or television. In some games, more polygons are added depending on the engine used and may have smoother gameplay than the previous version. In some cases, an updated derivative on the engine is used but retain the original content. Physics and animation are enhanced. Reimagining: making the content cater to current gen gamers. Some new stuff added or removed in order to please the *mainstream* players. Expect some things to be toned down, altered or excised due to current social trend or standards. Frankly that's how I see it imo.
Apparently, Nemesis likes to toy with his prey. This info is obtained through comics and other sources of RE3 media, none of which I’ve seen or read, just passing along the info. Also, I don’t care. OG3 is better.
@@dansmith1661 But actually it's not. Cause if it's canon it make many plot hole and inconsistents in the actual canon scénario. Plus comics or mahnwa are not made or support by Capcom.

@@tmerchead1 There is no where near as much action in RE4 compared to 6. You have vehicle segments, running segments, QTEs out the ass, wrestling moves, action movie set pieces, and explosions...everywhere!
What we need is a good online MMO RE game. Think of it like this. It takes place in Raccoon City Starting on Sept 23, 1998. The game runs in sessions lasting for 1 week. You start of by selecting a job class (cop, teacher, doctor, etc). This determines a basic set of skills, stats, and equipment that you start off with. The objective of the game is to escape the city. At the beginning there won't be as many zombies but as each day goes on there will be more and you will see more enemies like the lickers and crows. There will be multiple ways out of the city but they will change with each session and so will the difficulty of each escape plan. At the end of each session the nuke will go off obliterating the survivors. How long you lasted in each session and if you made it out will determine your score. Scores will earn points. Points will unlock new jobs and bonus equipment you can use in future sessions.
He missed something about the gunpowder, in the original if you made a certain ammo type enough, you would get enhanced powered up ammo later on, but the catch was that you could only use it with the unupgraded starting weapons, and you would get a smaller ammo stack compared to regular ammo. This added another element of choice, letting you decide what weapons to take for you if you know you would be going up against tougher enemies, or if you want to use stronger ammo to drop an enemy quicker in an emergency situation, just add this to the pile of reasons that the remake is so underwhelming compared to the original (but hey at least there is no water puzzle anymore sooo)
Plus, there was no separation between the regular and explosive gunpowder types. While the AA/AB/BB system was fine in RE2 Remake, it really limits your choice of ammo to craft with the materials you have compared to Original RE3. If you had 2A and 2B, for instance, your only choice would be whether to make 2AB or 1AA and 1BB, since each gunpowder type could only be used in one of two ways, while many combos of A/B in original RE3 could make almost any ammo type.
This is not a remake. It's a Re imagining, a very hollow and shallow re imagining. They say this was in development for 3 years. There is no way, there is no fucking way I believe this was in a 3 year development period. 1 year at the absolute maximum.
You're right, capcom even asked if fans are interested in RE3 remake after the RE2 released. They propably had the assets ready, but the game itself was definitely made after the RE2 remake

I sum up the games like this:
RE1 Remake 2002>>>RE2 remake 2019>>>>RE3 remake 2020.
RE3 Remake is the most disappointing one done so far.

It seriously can't be that hard to remake 4, especially since gunplay should be the main focus in that one.
What bummed me out the most of RE3 was the intro...I wanted to see the police department and umbrella be overwhelmed by the undead hordes.
Nemesis was made as a better Mr.X in the PS1 days and RE3 remake appearently only cared about visuals, so it makes sence why the remakes turned out the way they did
The game is not smaller, incel. The not so iconic places were REPLACED. Deal with it.
@@Aomegeus Ain't the clocktower the most iconic place in the original?

Wasn't Marvin being bitten shown in RE Outbreak File 2? In the "Desperate Times" scenario, the ending shows how Marvin was infected and how he ended up in the room Leon/Claire find him in.
As far as we know, Outbreak and other games aren't canon in the Remakes timeline. So far.
Yup, the sacrifice of marvin was destroyed
The remakes follow their own Canon. Not the originals. They are separate.
@@Survivor-cc5kg I mean... Kind of? The REmake is canon. They incorporated the Trevor family into the canon.
They wouldn't need to make a separate canon if they'd just faithfully remade the originals like everyone wanted
I feel like Capcom just thinks it's a Resident Evil 2 system is just all they need so I don't feel like a Resident Evil 4 remake will do well
Its actually the system from RE7 but to be honest I think the remake series is just to test features that will be in RE8 and the story edits are to cover their butts when people call bs in future titles but they will claim that the original titles have been retcon in the series moving forward and as for RE4 reimaginings I feel they will mess around with Jack Krauser but they will try to make it seem like the parasite put into Leon will have more of an effect on him in the game so that people can say but RE4 is more "scary" this time around even if the knife fight is cut or Jack Krauser becoming some combo of being Nikolai and Nemesis/Mr X which would suck as that would just be them throwing away his character for a lesser kind of character.

@marcus24000 Yes, but the problem is that the game is very short and that is not because it's more active. They were just lazy.
@marcus24000 Could be but I don't think so, they just cut corners. It was probably because of Capcom itself and not the Dev team. Just compare RE7 and RE2R with RE3 and you can tell that the last didn't get the same love as the former 2.
So true bro the game gets boring the worst remake
This might be a little paranoid of me, but I’m getting the sense that Capcom is trying to cash in on the Resident Evil nostalgia because Resident Evil 8 might just do something radically different like being paranormal or supernatural horror instead of biological, and they’re afraid it just might bomb, and these remakes are their backup in case that happens.
RE7 already felt less like RE, it honestly felt like a reboot.
RE8 is sounding even more paranormal.
Why not just make a new franchise?
@@Gruntvc Reminds me of when RE4 was first coming about, they started taking it down a paranormal route before changing it, but there is an actual playable demo of the "lost version" out there somewhere
You have a point there. Cause I really liked RE7 but if I'm not mistaken it sold less than RE2 Remake which in a way it makes sense that it would sell less. However also there were complaints about it not having enough type of enemies. So really by in large it was a risk what they did with RE7 but it paid off to me.

there was time for them to fix RE2 remake, literally add a B scenario difficulty, maybe a few new cutscenes or just even going to the weapons locker as Claire, seeing the shotgun also there and have her mutter something "better leave the shotgun for Leon" just something simple like that does so much.

RE 3 is a remake that cut out 90% of its OG highlight contents, start with unexpected apperances of Nemesis.

Aside of many, many other concerns, on 6. Dodging, my main concern is that it has no limitations of use. You can literally perfect dodge it as much as you want and always stay on top. In RE3R their legs bounce kinda weirdly until they get stunned or their legs come off...no in between slowly tearing off...Go test it it will literally take you like 5 minutes.

What about Claires AWESOME triple crossbow? I loved that weapon! 😈😎😇
The quick exposition bit killed me
Take my like. The best part is that "Escape From The City" is playing which is so fitting.

Edit 2: Critical Nobody, please stop being funny "Changing the substation to a lair of bug creatures that forcibly hentai Jill seems like needless shock value and make my peepee feel weird."
Yes, I get the Critical Nobody on the hentai bugs.
Conversely, you'll find that some games were not finished with enough time left over to do this, and have comparatively minimal extras.
so what? replayability is still important.
I think they were just lazy.
They also didn't have an agenda.
Dino Crisis REBOOT. No remake anymore.
I played most of the survival horrors out there and Resident Evil 1 Rebirth is the one that scared me the most. There's nothing like coming back to a cleared room to discover that the zombie you killed 1 hour ago rise up and sprint to you.
RE3 could've had a semi open exploration of Raccon City, choices like do this first instead of this or an alternative way to do it
Raccoon City feels big in the RE2 remake and u don't even go out to the city that much, and in RE3 remake the city feels big but u feel ULTRA limited
It's really bizarre for me that arguably one of the most important things about gaming - player's agency - is the first thing they cut down with these remakes. No cutscene can replace the feeling of you being in command of your experience. :(
If I remember correctly, one of the files throughout the game teaches you about perfect dodging.
It does.
How do we know you're a writer when the only evidence of your writing is this comment?
I know that this comment is dated, but I think the modern devs from big corporates don't care about criticism, they only care about money they can get (and Capcom is pretty succesful) also people tend to accept weaker products every year

To be fair she was trapped and had to get up the ladder
The last two minutes of those vid, are definitely gonna be added to the eventual RE4 Remake review
The first trilogy made me think about real life. Politics, weapons, chemistry, art, piano music, friendships, career choices...
The new games absolutely don't. They could just keep the piano music and naive empathy to these characters lines. But they didn't.
I think REmake 2 absolutely went back to that depth but yeah this didn't at all, sadly.
Hey they made you feel kinda sympathetic for Brad’s death. But otherwise yeah I’d rather play the original

Well Brad did leave alpha team for dead on the 1st game
these remakes more or less like Disney remakes.
at least they spell than correctly...
@Trevor Anthony true true
@@m.r.1514 i agree about re3r but re2r in other meaningful fields fail so hard that i won't be replaying as much as re2 original.

"A remake of Resident Evil 4 was in development, the one game in the series that no one asked to be remade."
Oh, you have no idea.
Cause the classic fans have pretty much abandoned the series, and the modern fans want simple action games that hold their hands.
@@GreenGimmick exactly
Re4r was actually a good remake that fixed the shitty tank controls
I still prefer the og
We're all missing the MOST important piece of dialogue in this game.
"I'm Nikolai and I hate you!"
Is that a yeti112 RE3 animation reference? That was classic lol...

Nemesis - The latest, most dangerous B.O.W from Umbrella sent down to cut every loose end in RC or in other words assassinate every S.T.A.R.S member left - Cannot even complete half of his objective (and there were only 2 left in the city)
Come to think of it, even a random zombie did a better job killing S.T.A.R.S member than "the Nemesis" himself (Whom that built SOLELY TO KILL S.T.A.R.S member).
@@dofydudes1735
I think they could maybe shown Nemesis piercing Brad's belly with the tentacle, rather than his brain.
Also the difficulty in executing the dodge in the original made it far more rewarding to master.
I bet my ass you probably have beaten the game in Hardcore and think you have mastered it...no way have you played this in nightmare or inferno
@@LimitlessPotential12 man, Im sorry for your ass, but I don't think I have mastered the game nor I have any wish to do it.

B-but taking out half the game and most of the replayability's a REIMAGINING my dude, totes not Capcom caring more about making REsistance, trust me
Plus, because Resistance is designed to push you into its own microtransactions, it is definitely not something worthy of being called a “free add-on” to RE3 Remake. Simply put, they are two separately monetized products which somehow can only be bought together, giving an illusion that you are getting more for your purchase of the first product.
Refuse to buy - didnt even know it had loot boxes...that utterly kills it for me
6:06 Even though he was scripted at points you always felt like the original Nemesis was lurking around and could pop up at any time.
Thought I’d give my two cents on things I agree/disagree with
-Sasha Zotova is a great model in general, but not a good character model for Jill Valentine (Jill’s ethnicity is part Japanese part French, her new character model makes her look too Russian. And of course, that’s because Sasha herself is Russian.)
-Evade function is a great feature.
